Radiocarbon dates for an elevational gradient by Toolik Lake, North Slope of Alaska 1988.

Two cores of peat, approximately 15 cm2, were cut to the depth at which mineral soils were encountered at each site. The sites of sampling correspond to an elevational gradient leading from the lakeside upslope to the begining of the water track at the ridgetop. Each sample was divided into three sections, one section to be used for radiocarbon age , one for loss on ignition, and the remainder to be kept for future needs.

Dataset: Timing the emergence and development of arable farming in Southeastern Norway by using summed probability distribution of radiocarbon dates and a Bayesian age model

The repository contains radiocarbon data and code for the paper

TIMING THE EMERGENCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF ARABLE FARMING IN 7 SOUTHEASTERN NORWAY BY USING SUMMED PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION 8 OF RADIOCARBON DATES AND A BAYESIAN AGE MODEL

Published in Radiocarbon 2021 (DOI:10.1017/RDC.2021.80)

ABSTRACT. The paper explores the emergence and development of arable farming in southeastern Norway by 12 compiling and analyzing directly dated cereals from archaeological contexts. By using summed probability 13 distributions of radiocarbon dates and Bayesian modeling, the paper presents the first comprehensive analysis of 14 the directly dated evidence for farming in the region. The models provide a more precise temporal resolution to 15 the development than hitherto presented. The results demonstrate that the introduction of arable farming to 16 southeastern Norway was a long-term development including several steps. Three different stages are pointed out 17 as important in the process of establishing arable farming: the Early and Middle Neolithic, the Late Neolithic, and 18 the Early Iron Age.

LBA-ECO CD-08 Radiocarbon Dates for Large Trees from a Forest near Manaus, Brazil

This data set reports the ages and growth rates of trees as determined by radiocarbon dating (14C), selected from a logging operation near the city of Itacoatiara, about 250 km east of Manaus, Brazil in 1997. Samples were collected from forty-four trees from 15 species with a basal diameter greater than 100 cm and prepared for radiocarbon dating by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. There is one comma-separated ASCII data file with this data set.

LBA-ECO CD-08 Radiocarbon Dating of Tree Ages in Amazonas, Acre, and Para in Brazil

This data set reports the ages and growth rates of trees determined by radiocarbon dating (14C) in three Amazonia forests. Tree samples were collected from permanent research plots at ZF2 km 34, Manaus, Amazonas, the Catuaba Experimental Farm, Acre, and the km 83 tower site (logged forest site) in the Tapajos National Forest, Para, between 2001-2003.Samples from 97 individual trees were either tree cores (Manaus and Acre) or a combination of tree cores and slabs cut from stems as part of the logging in the Tapajos National Forest (Para). Radiocarbon dating (14C) was used to determine the age and the mean diameter growth increment of samples from individual trees in various diameter size classes. These measurements can be used to verify and extend short-term diameter increment measurements done with dendrometers and to constrain models of tree demography. There is one comma-separated ASCII data file with this data set.
