Head of a Satyr, 1st century
This red marble (rosso antico) head of a satyr is displayed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. I took a total of 67 photos in RAW format at ISO100 f/8. My camera was on a tripod to get the sharpest photos. I used an old manual focus Series E Nikon 35mm 1.2.8 lens on my Sony Alpha 5100. 5463 BM Pouring Satyr
This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue in the British Museum. The statue depicts a young satyr (Latin *faun*), most likely pouring wine on top of an altar. This statue is thought to be a copy of an ancient Greek bronze statue by the sculptor Praxiteles. His sculptures were considered prime examples of the Greek ideal and therefore are thought to have been copied often. **Bibliography**: [The British Museum](https://research.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?objectId=1404176&page=1&partId=1&searchText=Castel%20Gandolfo) # Ancient World 3D This model posting is part of Ancient World 3D, a project that provides curated 3D open access content for Classical Studies.
