Datafiles supporting the article: Impact of methane and other precursor emission reductions on surface ozone in Europe: Scenario analysis using the EMEP MSC-W model

This repository contains the input and output files of the EMEP model related to the article "Impact of methane and other precursor emission reductions on surface ozone in Europe: Scenario analysis using the EMEP MSC-W model" submitted to ACP.

The folder Python_scripts includes the .py files used to generate the MAGICC7 model input files and simulation results, as well as the files used to create the figures in both the manuscript and supplementary information. For users, the paths in these scripts will have to be adjusted to point to the data files included in the EMEP_output folder. The latter folder contains the 5-year average scenario simulations as discussed in the main body of the text, as well as the ozone sensitivity to methane concentrations.

The EMEP_input folder contains the IIASA scenario emission files for the baseline, 2050 CLE, 2050 MFR, and 2050 LOW scenarios, including separate international shipping files. The regional 0.1 by 0.1 degree emission files are a combination of IIASA files for EECCA countries and EMEP reported emissions scaled by the included 'femis' files. The EMEP model code and reported emissions are available from the open-source release, available here: https://zenodo.org/record/8431553.

Deliverable 1.1.1.1 BEL-Float project | Dataset containing the results of numerical simulations (motions, forces) of the operational performance analysis - Part 9: Operational and damaged scenarios in regular waves

This dataset contains the results of OpenFAST simulations performed on the DeepCwind OC4 semi-submersible combined with the 5MW NREL turbine for various wind and wave conditions. The basis of the OpenFAST input files are taken from OpenFAST r-test GitHub repository (5MW_OC4Semi_WSt_WavesWN) and adapted to simulate various wind and wave conditions. The turbulent wind field as the input to the InflowWind module is generated using TurbSim. The simulations are performed on a modified version of OpenFAST v3.5.3 to which adaptation to the code is made to extract additional Morison drag output up to 16 cylindrical members. This adapted code is uploaded on GitHub as a branch from a forked OpenFAST repository. In total there are 1152 simulation results consists of 768 irregular waves and 384 regular waves cases. The complete dataset is divided into 9 sub-datasets to which this is part number 9. A report describing this dataset is available on the BEL-Float project website: https://www.owi-lab.be/bel-float.

PPARγ-bla dataset curated and enriched using the Enalos tools and Enalos KNIME nodes for machine learning analysis (SCENARIOS project)

A curated and enriched dataset for PPARγ-bla, intended for in silico model development, was obtained from PubChem BioAssay under the numeric identifier AID 743194 using Enalos tools and Enalos KNIME nodes. This dataset specifically utilizes compounds from the Tox21 10K chemical library that underwent screening against the PPARγ-bla HEK293H cell line. The cell line contains a beta-lactamase reporter gene, and all the information was extracted from PubChem Bioassay ID 743194 using Enalos tools and Enalos KNIME nodes. The original bioassay, consisting of 6587 compounds, assessed the antagonist activity of small molecules and classified them as 'active', 'inactive' or 'inconsistent' based on their AC50 (potency) score. The curated PPARγ dataset comprises 1230 compounds selected from the original bioassay and enriched with 777 molecular descriptors extracted from their 2D structure using EnalosMold2 KNIME nodes.

Projected shifts in deadwood bryophytes in Sweden, data used for species distribution modelling and for climate and forest scenario analysis

Climate change and habitat loss are main threats to forest biodiversity. We fitted ensembles of single species distribution models for 23 deadwood-living bryophyte species in Sweden, based on species records from the Swedish Lifewatch website. This data set comprises the species and environmental data used for species distribution modelling, and coefficients of the fitted single species distribution models (GLM, Poisson point-process, MaxEnt).

Based on the fitted species distribution models, we conducted simulations of future species distributions given realistic climate and forest projection scenarios at the national scale of Sweden. The data used for the scenario analysis are stored here.

Climate-economy model scenario runs and sensitivity analysis using DICE-2016

This paper assesses the prospects for climate stabilization from both positive and normative economic perspectives, and with an eye to the conditions necessary for collective action across the three domains: domestic, international, and intergenerational. While it is well-established that international freeriding and transaction costs pose major impediments to successful environmental agreements, this analysis identifies the intergenerational domain as the source of intractability due to long delays between enduring mitigation costs and enjoying their eventual climate benefits. This lag causes the net benefits for median-aged voters' to be negative over their expected remaining lifespans. Drawing on estimates from several Integrated Assessment Models of the benefits and costs of climate stabilization actions, the analysis concludes that a program of domestic and international climate actions will be hopelessly stymied by the failure of the actions to pass individual and collective rationality tests. However, the dire implications of this conclusion leaves the door open to the possibility that some change in circumstances could undercut this conclusion. The assignment of rights, in particular, has that potential. Indeed, these circumstances echo the canonical insights from Ron Coase's observation in The Problem of Social Cost (1960) that the arrangement of rights can have large effects on welfare when transaction costs for an externality are high. Current climate rights amount to a de facto open access right to pollute the atmosphere. Were a right to a stable climate for both for current and future generations recognized, added weight or leverage would apply in support of climate stabilization policies and international agreements. These legal changes could represent a counterweight to offset the inadequacy of support from the current self-interested generation. Indeed, some recent climate litigation argues that many nations' constitutions already encompass an affirmative right to a stable climate, a proposition that could represent an inimitable means to break the climate impasse.
