Data from Time since liver transplantation and immunosuppression withdrawal outcomes: a systematic review with individual patient data meta-analysis
<p>This record provides one CSV file containing anonymized individual patient data (IPD) of pre-withdrawal times (in days) of liver transplant recipients that underwent immunosuppression (IS) withdrawal. Collection and publication of anonymized data was approved by the Ethics Committee Northwest and Central Switzerland. Patients of 15 primary studies are stratified by successfully reaching the state of IS-free operational tolerance (OT) or by developing signs of immunological rejection (non-OT).</p>
Transplanted Sapling Long-term Survivability with Experimental Fungicide and Fencing at Multiple Michigan Sites (2009-2023)
Long-term transplant sapling recruitment (2009-2023) in Michigan, seeking to understand the effects of transplanting northern, southern, and locally sourced tree seeds. Regional sapling transplants simulate the effects of climate change as well as different tree species' ability to survive human-assisted northward migration. This dataset includes >25 species of trees and woody plants with approximately 500 surviving saplings out of ~24,000 transplanted throughout 2009-2017. Saplings are also experimentally treated with fungicide, some fenced to prevent deer browse, and planted under differing levels of canopy cover. Saplings are censused yearly, most recently 2023, recording survival and height.
Mammalian herbivores restrict the altitudinal range limits of three alpine grass species (transplant and herbivore exclusion experiment and demographic data from natural populations), West Elk Mountains, Colorado, USA 2015-2018
Though rarely experimentally tested, biotic interactions have long been hypothesized to limit low-elevation range boundaries of species. We tested the effects of herbivory on three alpine-restricted plant species by transplanting plants below (novel), at the edge (limit), or in the center (core) of their current elevational range and factorially fencing-out above- and belowground mammals in the West Elk Mountains, Colorado, USA from 2015-2018. Herbivore damage was greater in range limit and novel habitats than in range cores. Exclosures increased plant biomass and reproduction more in novel habitats than in range cores, suggesting demographic costs of novel interactions with herbivores. We then used demographic models to project population growth rates, which increased 5-20% more under herbivore exclosure at range limit and novel sites than in core habitats. Our results identify mammalian herbivores as key drivers of the low-elevation range limits of alpine plants and indicate that upward encroachment of herbivores could trigger local extinctions by depressing plant population growth.

The Turf Transplant Experiment was set up in the summer of 2024. Paired experimental sites were established in two tundra community types - dry meadow and moist meadow - with one site of each community type pair in a lower elevation/warmer area and one site in a higher elevation/cooler area. Subplot turfs (25 cm^2) were transplanted (1) between sites of the same community type at different elevations/temperatures, (2) between plots within the same site or (3) left in place as non-transplant controls. This data package contains trait measurements on Bistort individuals.

Safety and Efficacy of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Mitochondria Transplantation as a Cell-Free Therapy for Osteoarthritis
<p><strong><span>Abstract</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span>Objective</span></strong></p> <p><span>The inflammatory responses from synovial fibroblasts and macrophages</span><span> and the mitochondrial dysfunction in chondrocytes<span> leading to oxidative stress, disrupt extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostasis</span> and accelerate the deterioration process of articular cartilage<span> in osteoarthritis (OA).<span> </span>In the last years, it has been proposed that mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) transfer their functional mitochondria to damaged cells in response to cellular stress, becoming one of the mechanisms underpinning their therapeutic effects. </span>Therefore, we hypothesize that a novel cell-free treatment for OA could involve direct mitochondria transplantation, leading to the restoration of both cellular and mitochondrial homeostasis.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Methods</span></strong></p> <p><span>Mitochondria<span> were isolated from Umbilical Cord (UC)-MSC (Mito-MSC) and characterized based on their morphology, phenotype, functions, and their ability to be </span>internalized by <span>different articular cells. Furthermore, </span>the transcriptional changes following mitochondrial uptake by chondrocytes were evaluated using an Affymetrix analysis, Lastly, <span>the dose dependance therapeutic efficacy, biodistribution and immunogenicity of Mito-MSC w</span>ere assessed<span> in vivo, </span>through an intra-articular injection <span>in male C57BL6 mice in a </span>collagenase-induced OA <span>(CIOA) </span>model.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Results</span></strong></p> <p><span>Our findings demonstrate the functional integrity of Mito-MSC and their ability to be efficiently <span>transferred into chondrocytes, synovial macrophages, and synovial fibroblasts. </span>Moreover, the transcriptomic analysis showed the upregulation of genes involved in stress such as DNA reparative machinery and<span> inflammatory antiviral responses</span>.<span> </span>Finally, <span>Mito-MSC transplantation </span>yielded significant reductions<span> in joint mineralization, </span>a hallmark of OA progression<span>, </span>as well as improvements in OA-related histological signs, with the lower dose exhibiting better therapeutic efficacy. <span><span> </span></span>Furthermore, Mito-MSC were detected within the knee joint for up to 24 hours post-injection without eliciting an inflammatory response in CIOA mice. </span></p> <p><strong><span>Conclusion</span></strong></p> <p><span><span> </span>Collectively, our results reveal that mitochondria derived from MSC are transferred to key articular cells and are retained in the joint without generating an inflammatory immune response mitigating articular cartilage degradation in OA, probably through a restorative effect trigger by the stress antiviral response within OA chondrocytes.</span></p>
Raw Data for the article: Donor Preconditioning with Inhaled Sevoflurane Mitigates the Effects of Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in a Swine Model of Lung Transplantation
<p>Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) and ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) occur in up to 30% of patients undergoing lung transplantation and may impact on the clinical outcome. Several strategies for the prevention and treatment of PGD have been proposed, but with limited use in clinical practice. In this study, we investigate the potential application of sevoflurane (SEV) preconditioning to mitigate IRI after lung transplantation. The study included two groups of swines (preconditioned and not preconditioned with SEV) undergoing left lung transplantation after 24-hour of cold ischemia. Recipients' data was collected for 6 hours after reperfusion. Outcome analysis included assessment of ventilatory, hemodynamic, and hemogasanalytic parameters, evaluation of cellularity and cytokines in BAL samples, and histological analysis of tissue samples. Hemogasanalytic, hemodynamic, and respiratory parameters were significantly favorable, and the histological score showed less inflammatory and fibrotic injury in animals receiving SEV treatment. BAL cellular and cytokine profiling showed an anti-inflammatory pattern in animals receiving SEV compared to controls. In a swine model of lung transplantation after prolonged cold ischemia, SEV showed to mitigate the adverse effects of ischemia/reperfusion and to improve animal survival. Given the low cost and easy applicability, the administration of SEV in lung donors may be more extensively explored in clinical practice.</p>
