HEartS Professional Survey: Charting the effects of COVID-19 on working patterns, income, and wellbeing among performing arts professionals in the United Kingdom (April-May 2021)

<p>These data were collected using the <em>HEartS Professional Survey II</em> from performing arts workers in the United Kingdom in April–May 2021. <em>HEartS Professional II </em>is an adaptation of the <em>HEartS Professional I</em> survey which was used in April–June 2020 (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.s7h44j14z">https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.s7h44j14z</a>). Both surveys were designed as multi-strategy data collection tools with two main purposes: (1) to chart working patterns, income, sources of support, and indicators of mental and social well-being in order to identify trends in the effects of the lockdown at the time and (2) to explore the individual work and wellbeing experiences of performing arts professionals in their own words, in order to identify the subjective effects of lockdown in terms of challenges and opportunities. The survey covers six areas: (1) demographics; (2) information on illness or self-isolation related to COVID-19; (3) work profiles and income; (4) changes to work profiles and income as a result of the pandemic, as well as sources of support; (5) open-response questions about work and wellbeing experiences of lockdown including challenges and opportunities; and (6) validated measures of health, wellbeing, and social connectedness.<span> The <em>HEartS Professional</em> surveys are adaptations of the Depression, loneliness, online survey, pandemic, performing arts professionals, Social Isolation, UK adult sample, well-being, Work </span>which charts the Health, Economic, and Social impacts of the ARTs (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.3r2280gdj">https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.3r2280gdj</a>). </p>

Survey on the Effects of COVID-19 on the Wellbeing of Mexico City Households (ENCOVID- 19 CDMX – DECEMBER 2020)

<p>Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the ENCOVID-19 CDMX provides information on the well-being of Mexico City households in four main domains: labor, income, mental health, and food insecurity. It offers timely information to understand the social consequences of the pandemic and the lockdown measures. It is a cross-sectional telephone survey that, in addition to the four main domains and a set of COVID19-related questions, includes key indicators to capture the impact of the pandemic on issues like education, social programs, and crime. This is the second dataset of the project, corresponding to December 2020, collected eight months after the lockdown began in Mexico. Data collection was performed from November 29 to December 10, 2020.</p>

The effects of Covid-19 lockdown on health, lifestyle, and wellbeing of children with Type 1 diabetes and their parents in Kuwait

<p>This is a full data set to accompany our study, presently in submission.</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p><strong><em>Objective.</em></strong> The restrictions brought about by Covid-19 pandemic have substantially affected people&rsquo;s health and rapidly changed their daily routines. This is a prospective study that investigated the impact of the pandemic on primary school children with Type 1 diabetes and their parents during the first lockdown in Kuwait.</p> <p><strong><em>Methods.</em></strong> A questionnaire battery related to mental health, well-being, and lifestyle was administered at baseline in Summer 2019 (face-to-face, at a diabetes outpatient clinic) and at follow-up during lockdown in Summer 2020 (via telephone, in adherence with Covid-19 restrictions). Data were collected for 70 dyads with children aged 9-12 years.</p> <p><strong><em>Results.</em></strong> Significant differences were found in most scores for both children and parents. Their mental health worsened to a higher level of depression, anxiety, stress, and a poor level of wellbeing. The average scores on the follow-up tests fell within a clinical range on these measures. Significant differences in their lifestyle, compared to before the lockdown, included decreased levels of physical activity and lower healthy core nutritional intake.</p> <p><strong><em>Conclusions.</em></strong> Our findings indicate that the Covid-19 lockdown has had a significant psychological and possibly physiological impact on children with Type 1 diabetes and their parents. We conclude that there is a need for mental health support services focusing on these groups. Although full lockdown restrictions will have stopped in the past year, post-pandemic stressors may be expected to continue to adversely affect this cohort.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Data from: Great Lakes Restoration Initiative human wellbeing survey

<p>This dataset represents a comprehensive exploration of ecosystem restoration practices and their impacts on both ecological and human wellbeing indicators. Traditionally, ecosystem restoration efforts have focused on ecological benchmarks such as water and habitat quality, species abundance, and vegetation cover. However, there is an increasing recognition of the interplay between restoration and human communities, evidenced by positive socio-ecological connections like property value, natural hazard mitigation, recreation opportunities, and overall happiness. With the United Nations declaring 2021-2030 as the "Decade of Ecosystem Restoration" and a push for more socio-ecological goals in restoration, this dataset delves into the degree to which restoration practitioners consider human wellbeing. It is based on a case study of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), a federally funded program that has awarded over $3.5 billion to 5,300 projects. A total of 1,574 GLRI projects were surveyed, with 437 responses received, revealing that almost half of these projects set human wellbeing goals, and more than 70% believed they achieved them. In comparison, 90% of project managers believed they met their ecological goals. This dataset highlights the documented perceptions of positive impacts on both people and nature, suggesting that restoration efforts often go beyond traditional indicators. As such, it advocates for the adoption of a socio-ecological perspective in ecosystem restoration programs to comprehensively document the full extent of restoration outcomes. The data collection process included a survey methodology, and the dataset provides insights into project design, implementation, and success measurements. The data was collected between November 2020 and March 2021, with a maximum of three contact attempts for each project. It offers a unique perspective on the relationship between ecosystem restoration and human wellbeing, emphasizing the importance of capturing the often "unseen" benefits of these projects.</p>

The Acoustic Sounds for Wellbeing Dataset

<p>The field of sound healing includes ancient practices coming from a broad range of cultures. Across such practices there is a variety of instrumentation utilised. Practitioners suggest the ability of sound to target both mental and even physical health issues, e.g., chronic-stress, or joint-pain. Instruments including the Tibetan singing bowl and vocal chanting, are methods which are still widely encouraged today. With the noise-floor of modern urban soundscapes continually increasing and known to impact wellbeing, methods to approve daily soundscapes are needed. With this in mind, this study presents the Acoustic Sounds for Wellbeing (ASW) dataset. The ASW dataset is a dataset gathered from YouTube including 88+ hrs of audio from 5-classes of acoustic instrumentation (Chimes, Chanting, Drumming, Gongs, and Singing Bowl). Data and code for: Feeding, mating, and animal wellbeing: New insights from Phylogenetic Comparative Methods

<p class="MsoNormal">Some species tend to thrive in captivity, while others risk health and reproductive problems. This enables the use of P<span>hylogenetic Comparative Methods (PCMs) </span>to identify aspects of natural biology that predispose species to faring poorly or well. Risk factors can then suggest new ways to improve animal care. A steady trickle of studies has applied PCMs to animal welfare over the last two decades, Lewis et al. (1) <span>providing the latest.
