Data from: Using a reference population yardstick to calibrate and compare genetic diversity reported in different studies: an example from the brown bear.
In species with large geographic ranges, genetic diversity of different populations may be well studied, but differences in loci and sample sizes can make the results of different studies difficult to compare. Yet, such comparisons are important for assessing the status of populations of conservation concern. We propose a simple approach of using a single well-studied reference population as a "yardstick" to calibrate results of different studies to the same scale, enabling comparisons. We use a well-studied large carnivore, the brown bear (Ursus arctos), as a case study to demonstrate the approach. As a reference population, we genotyped 513 brown bears from Slovenia using 20 polymorphic microsatellite loci. We used this dataset to calibrate and compare heterozygosity and allelic richness for 30 brown bear populations from 10 different studies across the global distribution of the species. The simplicity of the reference population approach makes it useful for other species, enabling comparisons of genetic diversity estimates between previously incompatible studies and improving our understanding of how genetic diversity is distributed along a species range.

Calibration of a movable heat pulse probe in borehole for measuring horizontal groundwater flow velocity in deep aquifers

In the laboratory, 42 heat pulse experiments with 7 different Darcy’s velocities and 6 different heating powers had been done. The results are summarized in a relationship of temperature increase with time.

The temperature responses were continuously monitored over a 30min period. Data were collected every 2s throughout the recording period. In order to strictly monitor the actual power to the heater, the voltage and current delivered to the heater were also recorded simultaneously with the temperature.

The heater was switched on and lasted for 1 min to generate a heat pulse. The time when the heater was switched on was selected as the initial time of data analysis.

The power of vision: Calibration of auditory space after sight restoration from congenital cataracts

Early visual deprivation typically also results in impaired spatial cognition in the other sensory modalities (e.g., audition). It has been suggested that this happens because, since vision provides the most accurate spatial information, it is also used as a reference for calibrating space in the other sensory modalities during development. Here we found that sight restoration after several years of early-onset visual deprivation can lead to the development of more accurate and precise auditory space perception. In two experiments we assessed auditory space perception in individuals who suffered from congenital bilateral cataracts and got surgically treated for sight restoration several years after birth.

Dataset of paper "Neural Network Modeling of Black Box Controls for Internal Combustion Engine Calibration"

These are the two training datasets for the Exhaust Temperature Model (ETM) and the Three-Way Catalyst Control Lambda Set Point (TWCC) Model, used in Black-Box Modeling, such as through Neural Networks.

The datasets for each black box model are stored in XLSX files. Each dataset file contains ECU channel inputs, related Map parameters, and output. The ECU channel inputs and Map parameters are collected with Sobol methods. The output is generated by Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) corresponding to the related ECU channel inputs and Map parameters.

The ETM model has four effective Maps, hence there are 32 corresponding shape-based algorithm parameters. Its output is the exhaust temperature. Its ECU channel inputs are as follows:

CH_1: Intake valve cut-off condition

CH_2: Thrust cut-off condition

CH_3: Cylinder equalization control work cycle injection enabled

CH_4: Ignition angle efficiency

CH_5: Relative level of reduction

CH_6: Lean engine lambda for cylinders on exhaust bank with lambda split

CH_7: Rich engine lambda for cylinders on exhaust bank with lambda split

CH_8: Exhaust gas mass flow

CH_9: Engine speed

CH_10: Relative air filling

CH_11: Material temperature

CH_12: Engine temperature

The TWCC model has one Map, hence there are 8 corresponding shape-based algorithm parameters. Its output is lambda set point. Its ECU channel inputs are as follows:

CH_1: Exhaust mass flow

CH_2: Trigger bit for inhibiting the purge

CH_3: Trigger bit for a rich mixture

CH_4: Trigger bit for empty catalyst

CH_5: Trigger bit for catalyst reset

CH_6: Oxygen storage level

CH_7: Desired air-fuel ratio

MD simulation of POPC bilayer using a force field calibrated to NMR order parameters

Force field parameters and simulation trajectory for 34-lipid bilayer simulation where the force field has been calibrated to reproduce the NMR C-H 13C order parameters. Temperature is 300K, and simulation was conducted in NPT ensemble with asymmetric pressure coupling. The trajectory is 1 microsecond long. The simulation was started from an equilibrated conformation and few tens of nanoseconds of pre-equilibration was run before obtaining the 1 microsecond production run. The trajectory has been centered to the simulation box. The simulations where conducted on GROMACS 2020 (GPU).
