FIGURE 5. Box B and V3 in Cyanocohniella calida gen. et sp. nov. (Cyanobacteria: Aphanizomenonaceae) a new cyanobacterium from the thermal springs from Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

FIGURE 5. Box B and V3 helices of the 16S-23S ITS for Cyanocohniella and comparison taxa (full citations to taxa and accession numbers given in legend for Fig. 4). A–G. Box B helix. H–N. V3 helix. Sequences of all comparison taxa are compared to sequence of C. calida and minimum number of mutations to achieve the C. calida sequence are given in circles above terminus of each structure. Possible substitutions (hollow circles), deletions (minus signs), and insertions (plus signs) are shown at positions in helix where they likely occurred if differences observed are explained parsimoniously through just comparison to C. calida.

Figure 1 in An illustrated key and synopsis of the families and genera of carybdeid box jellyfishes (Cnidaria: Cubozoa: Carybdeida), with emphasis on the "Irukandji family" (Carukiidae)

Figure 1. Family level relationships within Cubozoa following Bentlage et al. (2010). Key characters to the orders and families are indicated on the branches of the cladogram. Detailed explanations of the characters can be found in the dichotomous key and associated figures. Chirodropida possess multiple tentacles per pedalium (A) whereas Carybdeida possess a single tentacle per pedalium (B). In the Tripedaliidae multiple pedalia each bearing a single tentacle may be present that can be mistaken for multiple tentacles arising from a single pedalium. The families of the Carybdeida can be identified using the following characters. Alatinidae (C): rhopaliar niche ostium T-shaped. Carukiidae (D): rhopaliar niche ostium with rhopaliar horns, stomach lacking gastric phacellae. Tamoyidae (E): rhopaliar niche ostium frown-shaped, lacking rhopaliar horns, gastric phacellae vertical. Tripedaliidae (F): rhopaliar niche ostium keyhole-shaped, or alternatively rhopaliar niche ostium frown-shaped and two or three pedalia per corner instead of one. Carybdeidae (G): rhopaliar niche ostium heart-shaped.

Gone in 60 Nanoseconds: Transient Light Transport in Cornell Box

Transient light transport in the Cornell Box using transient photon map in RADIANCE. The existing kd-tree data structure to store the photons was extended to 4D, with the photons' time-of-flight as fourth dimension. This simple example demonstrates one aspect of transient rendering that is lost in steady state lighting: it reveals fleeting phenomena that (mostly) disappear when lighting reaches equilibrium. Note the strong colour bleeding on the central white wall from the 1st bounce off the flanking red and blue walls (see t=3.0 nsec). This effect is neutralised by secondary interreflections, and barely noticeable in steady state. This example also demonstrates the current prototype's limitations; transient rendering is limited to diffuse surfaces (note the steady-state specular reflections on the dielectric sphere), and the speed of light is assumed to be constant, i.e. independent of the index of refraction.
