Gamification of Student Development Projects in Software Engineering Education - Master's Thesis Dataset

<p>This dataset contains all questionnaire results of the Master's Thesis <em>Gamification of Student Development Projects in Software Engineering Education</em>. The thesis will be linked to this set as soon as it is completed and publically available.</p> <p>In total, five questionnaires were conducted. To analyze users and requirements, a questionnaire with students and project supervisors was conducted. The implemented tool was evaluated using a pre-, mid-, and post-study questionnaire. This dataset contains a folder for each questionnaire including results in CSV format, results in HTML format, which is more human readable, and the questionnaire in PDF format. Due to the used survey tool,&nbsp;<em>lamapoll</em>, some parts of the files are in German. However, the questions and responses are all in English.</p> <p>Additionally, the scripts folder contains the Python scripts that were used to produce the graphics of the thesis. The Python libraries <code>matplotlib</code>, <code>pandas</code>, <code>scipy</code>, <code>numpy</code>, and <code>plot_likert</code> are required to run the scripts. Some of them use the two provided files <code>evalutation_concat_raw_excel.csv</code>, which is a concatenation of the results of the three evaluation questionnaires, and <code>sprint_stats.csv</code>, which contains statistics of the sprints relevant to the user study.</p>

The sharing of research raw data in journals indexed in the Cell & Tissue Engineering JCR category (2011-2015)

<p>The availability of research data sets is an important milestone since it can enhance the dynamics of research. This study aims to analyze the PubMed Central repository to determine the availability and type of raw data sets in Cell &amp; Tissue Engineering journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports. The number and types of files were registered. A search of the 21 journals from the Cell &amp; Tissue Engineering category of the 2015 Journal Citation Reports was conducted. Information was collected from October to December 2016.&nbsp;A study of the supplementary material of the original articles published between 2011-2015 was performed through a search in the PubMed Central repository, which is the most used free full-text repository in biomedicine. Only articles with supplementary material were retrieved. The number and types of files were registered. In cases where a compressed file, such as a .zip or .rar file, was found, it was opened to check what kinds of files it contained.</p>

Engineering the docs at LSST

<p>Documentation plays a quiet, but critical, role in our field. Sooner or later, all of us have to write docs, whether we want to or not, and whether we have formal training or not. Docs always seem to take longer to make, and are harder to maintain, than we expect. In this talk, I will walk through several case studies of how we approach documentation production at the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope from my perspective as the documentation engineer for the Data Management subsystem. I&#39;ll show how we democratized information sharing with our Developer Guide and technical notes platform; how a Slack bot and templates make everyone on the team work like professional documentarians; how implementing continuous delivery for documentation stopped endless email chains of PDF and Word files; and even how we&#39;re helping the commissioning team communicate their investigations through Jupyter notebooks. I&#39;ll talk candidly about both the benefits and costs of our engineering-forward approach to LSST documentation and hopefully, will inspire you to take a fresh look at writing the docs for your own projects.</p>

The optimization of a jet turbojet engine by PSO and searching algorithms

<p>The turbojet engine operates on the ideal Brayton cycle (gas turbine) and consists of six main parts: diffusers, compressors, combustion chambers, turbines, afterburners and nozzles. Using computer code writing in MATLAB software environment, exergy analysis on all selected turbojet engine components, exergy analysis on J85-GE-21 turbojet engine for selective height of 10008000 meters above sea level at speeds of 200 m/s and temperatures of 10, 20 and 40 &deg; C have been provided and then, according to the system functions, the system is optimized based on the PSO method. For the purpose of optimization, variables of Mach number, efficiency of the compressor, turbine, nozzle and compressor pressure ratio are considered in the range of 0.6 to 1.4, 0.8 to 0.95, 0.8 to 0.95 and 7 to 10, respectively. The highest exergy efficiency of different parts of the engine at sea level with an inlet air velocity of 200 m/s corresponds to a diffuser with 73.1%. Then, the nozzle and combustion chamber are respectively 68.6% and 51.5%. The lowest exergy efficiency is related to compressor with 4%. After that, the afterburner is ranked second with 11.6%. Also, the values of entropy produced and the efficiency of the second law before optimization were 1176.99 and 479 w/k respectively and the same values after optimization were 1129 and 51.4 w/k respectively which is identified. After the optimization process, the amount of entropy produced is reduced and the efficiency of the second law of thermodynamics has increased.<br> &nbsp;</p>

Evaluation of the Performance and Cost-Effectiveness of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) Produced from Region 6 Local Materials

<p>Corresponding data set for Tran-SET Project No. 17CLSU05. Abstract of the final report is stated below for reference:</p> <p>&quot;The project objective is to develop cost-effective Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) with locally available ingredients in Region 6 to address the deficiencies observed in ordinary concrete materials. The study explored the utilization of two types of river sands (coarse and fine), two types of PVA fibers (long and short), four levels of cement replacement with Class F fly ash, and the implementation of recycled crumb rubber in the performance of ECC materials. A total of 24 mix designs were prepared and evaluated in compression, tension, and bending to assess its mechanical properties. Furthermore, the cracking characteristics of the materials produced were evaluated to assess the durability potential of these composites. Lastly, the cost of each mix design and the feasibility of ECC implementation in transportation infrastructure were assessed. The experimental results showed that implementing crumb rubber and/or increasing contents of fly ash in the mixtures produced a positive impact in the ductility of the materials. However, a tradeoff between ductility and strength was observed. Furthermore, the utilization of the different types of sand evaluated in this study produced minor effects in the mechanical properties of ECCs evaluated. The properties of the materials developed in this study were exceedingly superior than that of regular concrete. It was concluded that ECC materials are promising for the future of transportation infrastructure.&quot;</p>

Dataset for article 'How users' knowledge of advertisements influences their viewing and selection behaviour in search engines'

<p>This study examines how users&rsquo; understanding of search-based advertising influences search results viewing behaviour the PC and the smartphone. To investigate this, we used a mix of methods consisting of interview, eye-tracking experiment and questionnaire with n=100 subjects. We show that participants with a low level of knowledge on search advertising are more likely to click on ads than subjects with a high level of knowledge. Moreover, subjects with little knowledge show less willingness to scroll down to the organic results. Regarding the device, there are significant differences in viewing behaviour. These can be attributed to the influence of the direct visibility of search results on both devices tested. We recommend, depending on the device, that advertisers ensure their ads appear in the instantly visible area (&quot;above the fold&quot;). Future studies should investigate the motivations of searchers when clicking on ads.</p>

Datasets and geometries for "MORE-Q, Dataset for molecular olfactorial receptor engineering by quantum mechanics"

<p>We introduce the MORE-Q dataset, a quantum-mechanical (QM) dataset encompassing the structural and electronic data of non-covalent molecular sensors formed by combining 18 mucin-derived olfactorial receptors with 102 body odor volatilome (BOV) molecules. To have a better understanding of their intra- and inter-molecular interactions, we have performed accurate QM calculations in different stages of the sensor design and, accordingly, MORE-Q splits into three subsets: i) MORE-Q-G1: QM data of 18 receptors and 102 BOV molecules, ii) MORE-Q-G2: QM data of 23, 838 BOV-receptor configurations, and iii) MORE-Q-G3: QM data of 1, 836 BOV-receptor-graphene systems. Each subset involves geometries optimized using GFN2-xTB with D4 dispersion correction and up to 39 physicochemical properties, including global and local properties as well as binding features, all computed at the tightly converged PBE+D3 level of theory. By addressing BOV-receptor-graphene systems from a QM perspective, MORE-Q can serve as a benchmark dataset for state-of-the-art machine learning methods developed to predict binding features. This, in turn, can provide valuable insights for developing the next-generation mucin-derived olfactory receptor sensing devices.</p> <p>The dataset is provided in 3 HDF5 based files. Campaing data obtained from the Micro Volunteering Engine

<p><span>This database supports the task allocation solution for a Spatial Crowdsourcing problem within the context of the Socio-Bee project. The goal is to resolve the task allocation challenge in a scenario where participation is altruistic, without economic incentives. Instead, recommendations are tailored to users based on their routines and past involvement, encouraging ease of participation by making tasks adaptive to their availability and location.</span></p> <p><span>The database is designed as part of the second pilot of the Socio-Bee project, a Citizen Science initiative aimed at promoting public involvement in air quality monitoring.
