Sampling in Cloud Benchmarking: A Critical Review and Methodological Guidelines

In particular, the sampling strategy of benchmark designers can significantly influence benchmark results. Despite this well-known fact, no systematic approach has been devised so far to make sampling results comparable and guide benchmark designers in choosing their sampling strategy for use within benchmarks. To identify systematic problems, we critically review sampling in recent cloud computing research. Our analysis identifies concerning trends: (i) a high prevalence of non-probability sampling, (ii) over-reliance on a single benchmark, and (iii) restricted access to samples. To address these issues and increase transparency in sampling, we propose methodological guidelines for researchers and reviewers. We hope that our work contributes to improving the generalizability, reproducibility, and reliability of research results.</p> </blockquote>

<p>Dataset supporting publication: “A novel ROM methodology to support the estimation of the energy savings under the Measurement and Verification protocol” (publication available for download: <a href="https://zenodo.org/record/4062276#.X33rSO3tbIU">GEOFIT Zenodo</a>)</p> <p>Datasets resultant from simulation of the integrated system into buildings.</p> <p>Conference paper presented in <a href="https://www.bso2020.org/">IBPSA-England Building Simulation and Optimisation Conference 2020</a></p> <p>This paper presents a novel Reduced Order grey box Model (ROM) methodology, based on a Resistor-Capacitor (RC) network, which supports the creation of the baseline energy consumption and the estimation of energy savings due to Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) under the Measurement and Verification protocol. Within this scope, a description of the RC network, including a calculation of the parameters’ needed to execute the ROM, are presented. This ROM methodology is demonstrated on an educational building located in Sant Cugat, Spain as part of the H2020 GEOFIT project. The results presented in this paper demonstrate that the ROM is sufficiently accurate for the creation of the baseline energy consumption and for estimating the energy savings of different ECMs.</p>
Methodological Issues in First-Principle Calculations of CH3NH3PbI3 Perovskite Surfaces: Quantum Confinement and Thermal Motion. [Dataset]
<p>Dataset of the simulated ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) trajectories of the (2 × 2) × 6 slabs for MAPbI3 (001)-PbI2 and MAPbI3 (001)-MAI slabs of the MAPbI3 tetragonal phase. The calculations were performed with the CP2K code (V7.1), evaluating the forces with the PBE functional with the Grimme correction scheme (DFT- D3, Zero–damped correction). The trajectory productions include up to 40 ps using the microcanonical ensemble with 0.5 fs of time-step, considering 5 ps of thermalization time. More details in the article support information.</p> <p>For each surface, the dataset includes (i) AIMD trajectories (positions and energies), (ii) Electronic structure (PBE+SOC, calculated with VASP code) along the dynamics considering 270 representative configurations, (iii) Geometry and electronic structure of the 0K slab models.</p>
