The functionalised DMOF-1 is characterized using various analytical techniques including PXRD, TGA and N<sub>2</sub> sorption. The effect of the various functional groups on the performance of the MOFs for post-combustion CO<sub>2</sub> capture is evaluated. DMOF-1s with polar functional groups are found to have better affinity with CO<sub>2</sub> compared with the parent framework as indicated by higher CO<sub>2</sub> heat of adsorption. However, imparting steric hindrance to the framework as in Azo-DMOF-1 enhances CO<sub>2</sub>/N<sub>2</sub> selectivity, potentially as a result of lower N2 affinity for the framework. &nbsp;</p>

Composition and thermophysical properties of metallurgical plasmas - LTE calculations

<div> <p>This dataset contains two subsets:</p> <p>First - elemental compositions of the equilibrium gas phase over a variety of metallurgical processes conducted in direct-current plasma arc furnaces at a range of slag temperatures between the typical process temperature and the vaporisation temperature (defined as the lowest temperature at which only a gas phase exists).&nbsp; These were obtained from process simulations using thermochemical calculation software.</p> <p>Second - plasma composition and thermophysical properties at a range of plasma temperatures between 2000 K and 30000K under local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions, as calculated using minplascalc software (https://github.com/quinnreynolds/minplascalc, commit 967faf3). All calculations are at atmospheric pressure, and use the elemental gas phase compositions for each slag temperature to define the mass conservation constraints.</p> </div> <h2></h2>

With interest in its use growing, it is essential to understand how pyrolysis parameters control biochar properties and, subsequently, which analytical methods can be applied effectively in characterizing biochar. While various methods are already in use, the potential of reflected light microscopy analysis has not yet been widely explored. This paper focuses on examining the microscopic properties of various biochars by implementing reflected light microscopy and assessing whether this technique has the potential to deliver quick, reliable, and essential information for biochar characterization. To support microscopic observations, selected physical (density and surface area) and chemical parameters (carbon and sulfur content, functional group distribution) of biochar samples were also determined. Megascopically and microscopically there is a considerable difference among biochars of different feeds including their size and shape, porosity, ratio of the abundance of cellular to non-cellular pores, inorganic matter content, the ratio of thick-walled to thin-walled inertinite, or the ratio between high-reflectance inertinite to low reflectance inertinite and their reactivity. The biochars studied also showed variations in the oxygenated groups contribution, a wide range of carbon content (14.7 to 98.8%), density (1.45 to 2.47 g/cm3), and surface areas (from &lt;1 to 363.6 m2/g). Our results demonstrate that microscopic characteristics and reflectance of biochar can provide crucial diagnostic value for predicting biochar properties and, in combination with other physical and chemical properties, help to enhance information about the biomass conversion process and potential practical use of biochar.</p>

THE ROLE OF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IN PROMOTING ENERGY-EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS FOR RENTALS

<p>Real estate management plays a key role in promoting energy efficient solutions when renting out properties. The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of management companies on the introduction of energy-efficient technologies to increase the competitiveness of facilities and reduce operating costs. The methodology is based on the analysis of data on the application of modern energy-efficient solutions, including lighting, heating and automation systems in buildings in the Czech Republic. The results showed that the use of such technologies helps to reduce utility costs by 20-40% and increases the attractiveness of facilities for tenants. In conclusion, property management aimed at energy efficiency ensures the achievement of sustainable development and economic benefits for owners and tenants. These measures increase the market value of the properties and extend the lease terms, which strengthens the position in the real estate rental market.</p>

Results of inter-laboratory testing on COSC-1 cores and reference samples (density, porosity, thermal properties)
