Electron microscopy images and morphometric data of SARS-CoV-2 variants in ultrathin plastic sections - Dataset 05 (SARS-CoV-2 Delta B.1.617.2)
<p>Dataset 05 comprises 153 transmission electron microscopy images of extracellular SARS-CoV-2 (isolate Delta B.1.617.2) particles in ultrathin plastic sections (45 nm) through Vero cell cultures. The images were recorded with dimensions of 4112 x 3008 pixels at a pixel size of 0.1641 nm and stored in 16-bit TIF format. It is recommended that an image viewer capable of reading 16-bit images, such as IrfanView, be used to visualize the images. The image files have been size calibrated and can be opened with the correct size calibration using ImageJ or Fiji with the Bioformats importer. A PDF document is provided with the image files, which describes the methods used for the generation of the images. Additionally, an XLSX file is included, offering morphometric particle measurements and the calculated statistical values for their distribution. The dataset was produced as dataset 05 for a comparative morphometric analysis of evolving SARS-CoV-2 variants. Further datasets used for the analysis are available in this repository (see dataset description document).</p>

ROLE OF MULTINATIONAL COOPERATION IN ADDRESSING ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES IN NIGER DELTA REGION OF NIGERIA
<p>This paper examines the environmental and socio-economic impacts of multinational<br>oil companies' operations in Nigeria's Niger Delta region. Despite substantial<br>contributions to Nigeria’s economy, these corporations' activities have led to severe<br>environmental degradation, including oil spills, gas flaring, and deforestation, which<br>have devastated local ecosystems and compromised human health. The Niger Delta,<br>rich in biodiversity and natural resources, suffers from pollution and poor waste<br>management, resulting in impoverished communities with limited access to essential<br>services such as healthcare and education. The study highlights the complex interplay<br>between economic benefits and the detrimental consequences of resource exploitation,<br>emphasizing the role of poor governance and inadequate regulatory frameworks in<br>perpetuating these challenges. The persistent neglect and environmental harm have<br>fueled militancy and violence, further destabilizing the region.<br>The discussions also explores the potential for multinational oil companies to mitigate<br>these environmental challenges. By implementing advanced technologies and best<br>practices, these companies can reduce environmental damage and promote<br>sustainable operations. Their investments in clean technology, local economies, and<br>corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives can alleviate socio-economic pressures<br>that contribute to environmental degradation. Collaboration with governments, NGOs,<br>and communities is essential for developing comprehensive strategies for<br>environmental protection, ensuring transparency, accountability, and support for local<br>initiatives. Data from: Historic and contemporary use of catfish aquaculture by piscivorous birds in the Mississippi Delta
<p>This dataset contains data used in the manuscript "Historic and contemporary use of catfish aquaculture by piscivorous birds in the Mississippi Delta", published in The Condor: Ornithological Applications. All data were collected in northwest Mississippi during winters (October - April) of 2000-2001, 2003-2004, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018. Two primary types of data are present: 1) roost surveys, and 2) aquaculture cluster surveys. Roost surveys were aerial surveys in which all known double-crested cormorant night roosts in northwest Mississippi were surveyed and cormorants were counted. Roost survey data can be found in the "Cormorant_Roost_Survey_Counts.xlxs" file. For the aquaculture cluster surveys, clusters were defined as U.S. Geological Survey land survey sections that contained aquaculture. For each year of data, a random subset of these clusters were chosen to be aerial surveyed and double-crested cormorants, great blue herons, and great egrets were recorded per cluster. Basic descriptive statistics of the clusters can be found in the "Cluster_Descriptive_Stats.xlxs" file. The "Historic_vs_Contemporary_Cormorants.xlxs" file was used to compare cormorant density on aquaculture clusters between the historic period (2000-2001, 2003-2004) and contemporary period (2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018). Lastly, the "Cluster_Survey_Data_Contemporary.xlxs" file contains data recorded during the contemporary period only, and other variables regarding the clusters are also present.</p>
