BIR-MicroED: selected area electron diffraction tilt series datasets used to determine representative structures of biotin, Cu(II)-serine, Zn(II)-methionine, Zn(II)-histidine, and Co(II)-porphyrin

This deposition contains a series zip files each containing electron diffraction datasets in .mrc file format (except for the data collected from Co(II) porphyrin, which are 300 kV data in .tvips file format). Each folder collects data acquired from crystals of a particular compound under the same conditions (electron energy, temperature), where the reduced data from each were merged to determine a single representative structure of the compound by microED. Zip files are named according to the format: "CompoundName_AcceleratingVoltage_Temperature_structuredatasets.zip"

Diffraction datasets within each folder are named according to the format: CompoundName_structuretiltseries_AcceleratingVoltage_Temperature_crystal#.mrc (or .tvips).

All 200 kV datasets were collected with a rotation speed of 1 degree/second and an effective frame rate of 1 frame/second, with the exception of two Zn(II) methionine datasets collected with a frame rate of 3 frames/second. These are noted by the presence of "3fps" in the file name.

All 300 kV datasets were collected with a rotation speed of 0.03 degrees/second and a frame rate of 0.5 frames/second.

Data from: Analysis of genotyping data reveals the unique genetic diversity represented by the breeds of sheep native to the United Kingdom

Background: Sheep breeds native to the United Kingdom are noted for high breed variability and exhibit a striking diversity of different traits in phenotypes and genetic diversity. Some of these traits are highly sustainable, such as seasonal wool shedding in the Wiltshire Horn, are likely to become more important as pressures on sheep production increase in coming decades. Despite their clear importance to the future of sheep farming, the genetic diversity of native UK sheep breeds is poorly characterised. This increases the risk of losing the ability to select for breed-specific traits from native breeds that might be important to the UK sheep sector in the future. Here, we use 50K genotyping to perform preliminary analysis of breed relationships and genetic diversity within native UK sheep breeds, as a first step towards a comprehensive characterisation. This study generates novel data for thirteen native UK breeds, including 6 on the UK Breeds at Risk (BAR) list, and utilises existing data from the publicly available Sheep HapMap dataset to investigate population structure, heterozygosity and admixture.

Results: In this study the commercial breeds exhibited high levels of admixture, weaker population structure and had higher heterozygosity compared to the other native breeds, which generally tend to be more distinct, less admixed, and have lower genetic diversity and higher kinship coefficients. Some breeds including the Wiltshire Horn, Lincoln Longwool and Ryeland showed very little admixture at all, indicating a high level of breed integrity but potentially low genetic diversity. Population structure and admixture were strongly influenced by sample size and sample provenance – highlighting the need for equal sample sizes, sufficient numbers of individuals per breed, and sampling across multiple flocks. The genetic profiles both within and between breeds were highly complex for UK sheep, reflecting the complexity in the demographic history of these breeds.

Conclusion: Our results highlight the utility of genotyping data for investigating breed diversity and genetic structure. They also suggest that routine generation of genotyping data would be very useful in informing conservation strategies for rare and declining breeds with small populations sizes. We conclude that generating genetic resources for the sheep breeds that are native to the UK will help preserve the considerable genetic diversity represented by these breeds, and safe guard this diversity as a valuable resource for the UK sheep sector to utilise in the face of future challenges.

A corpus of Java projects representing the 2012 Ohloh universe

A corpus of Java projects build using the Software Projects Sampling (SPS) tool by Naggapan et al [1]. SPS measures representativeness of a smaller corpus with respect to the universe (Ohloh 2012) in terms of diversity dimensions and constructs a maximally representative corpus by iteratively adding projects that would increase the representativeness most.

The corpus contains the source code of the projects selected at 1 June 2012. This is due to the fact that the Ohloh data on which the diversity was calculated was of that period.

[1] M. Nagappan, T. Zimmermann, and C. Pulse Wave Database (PWDB): A database of arterial pulse waves representative of healthy adults

Overview

This database of simulated arterial pulse waves is designed to be representative of a sample of pulse waves measured from healthy adults. It contains pulse waves for 4,374 virtual subjects, aged from 25-75 years old (in 10 year increments). The database contains a baseline set of pulse waves for each of the six age groups, created using cardiovascular properties (such as heart rate and arterial stiffness) which are representative of healthy subjects at each age group. It also contains 728 further virtual subjects at each age group, in which each of the cardiovascular properties are varied within normal ranges. This allows for extensive in silico analyses of haemodynamics and the performance of pulse wave analysis algorithms.

Data Description

The database contains the following waves:

arterial flow velocity (U),

luminal area (A),

pressure (P), and

photoplethysmogram (PPG).

These pulse waves are provided at a range of measurement sites, including:

aorta (ascending and descending)

carotid artery

brachial artery

radial artery

finger

femoral artery

The data are available in three formats: Matlab, CSV and WaveForm Database (WFDB) format. Dataset of synthetic whole-body bone scintigraphy scans representing three clinical conditions

We here provide an image dataset consisting of 1,000 synthetic whole-body bone scintigraphy scans (anterior projection) generated by a generative artificial intelligence model. This dataset consists of images representing three different clinical conditions: (1) bone uptake indicative of bone metastases, (2) cardiac uptake indicative of cardiac amyloidosis, and (3) none of the two.

The clinical condition (label) of each image is provided in the csv file:

Label 1: Bone uptake indicative of bone metastases (n=250 scans)

Label 2: Cardiac uptake indicative of cardiac amyloidosis (n=250 scans)

Label 0: None of the two (n=500 scans)

This synthetic dataset does not comprise real patient data. The provided synthetic images were created by a generative artificial intelligence model. The model was trained on bone scintigraphy scans (radiotracer: 99mTc-DPD) from 9,170 patients from the Vienna General Hospital collected as part of the clinical routine. The training data covered a wide range of different pathologies, scanners, and imaging protocols. Hence, the provided synthetic dataset represents real-world data without disclosing patient privacy.

More details about the dataset can be found in the corresponding paper (link added upon publication). Please cite this paper if you use the dataset.

Representative records: representative records

exemplary records to represent a single typical value of an attribute for a taxon. This resource lists existing records that are tagged in the database as representative (REP) and/or primary (PRM) records. Records for adult lifestages are preferred where appropriate (eg, for body size) and measures of central tendency are preferred (eg: mean, median). Multiple records with similar metadata may be selected as Representative (REP) records. A record from the middle of a numerical value range is also tagged as the Primary (PRM) record. For instance, a plant with height records (all for mature plants and representing the mean of a dataset) of 60cm, 79cm, and 1m will have a PRM record of 79 cm. Categorical values are summarized by superclass (umbrella) categories. A species reported from Brazil, Venezuela, and Argentina will have a PRM record for South America.

For questions or use cases calling for large, multi-use aggregate data files, please visit the EOL Services forum at

http://discuss.eol.org/c/eol-services
