Pre-generated network files for "Intersecting near-optimal spaces: European power systems with more resilience to weather variability"

<p>These are network files that can be used to investigate the impacts of weather variability on the European power system using PyPSA-Eur as in <a href="https://github.com/aleks-g/intersecting-near-opt-spaces/tree/v1.0">https://github.com/aleks-g/intersecting-near-opt-spaces/tree/v1.0</a>. Find more information about the approach in the README of that repository.</p> <p>These network files are a shortcut to reproduce the results and use a fixed configuration (&quot;v1.0&quot;). For other configurations, it may be necessary to download ERA5 reanalysis cutouts (more on this in the git repository).</p> <p>Instructions can be found in the git repository.</p>

Data from: Optimal mating of Pinus taeda L. under different scenarios using differential evolution algorithm

<p>A newly developed software, AgMate, was used to perform optimized mating for monoecious <em>Pinus taeda L.</em> breeding. Using a computational optimization procedure called differential evolution (DE), AgMate was applied under different breeding population sizes scenarios (50, 100, 150, 200, 250) and candidate contribution scenarios (max use of each candidate was set to 1 or 8), to assess its efficiency in maximizing the genetic gain while controlling inbreeding. Real pedigree data set from North Carolina State University Tree Improvement Co-op with 962 Pinus taeda were used to optimize objective functions accounting for coancestry of parents and expected genetic gain and inbreeding of the future progeny. AgMate results were compared with those from another widely used mating software called MateSel (Kinghorn, 1999). For the proposed mating list for 200 progenies, AgMate resulted in an 83.7% increase in genetic gain compared with the candidate population. There was evidence that AgMate performed similarly to MateSel in managing coancestry and expected genetic gain, but MateSel was superior in avoiding inbreeding in proposed mate pairs. The developed algorithm was computationally efficient in maximizing the objective functions and flexible for practical application in monoecious diploid conifer breeding.</p>

Optical motion capturing of change of direction motions reconstructed with inverse kinematics and dynamics and optimal control simulation

<p>This is the data belonging to the publication &quot;Change the direction: 3D optimal control simulation by directly tracking marker and ground reaction force data&quot;.</p> <p>This study investigated the feasibility and accuracy of reconstructing, especially change of direction motions with a 3D full-body musculoskeletal model by tracking marker and ground reaction force (GRF) data in optimal control simulations. We recorded in total 30 trials with optical motion capture. Using this data, we compared inverse methods (inverse kinematics and dynamics) to coordinate tracking simulations and marker tracking simulations.</p> <p>Please see the README and the publication for further details.</p>

Analysis table of optimal preparation conditions of expanded graphite

<p><span>The environmentally friendly preparation of sulfur-free expanded graphite (EG) remains a great challenge. A large amount of strong acids and strong oxidants were used in the preparation of expandable graphite, resulting in environmental pollution problems. Herein, a novel and green preparation method for sulfur-free expanded graphite (EG) has been developed. Sulfur-free EG was fabricated using natural flake graphite (NFG), sodium perchlorate (NaClO4), and oxalic acid (C2H2O4) as raw materials. The electrochemical oxidation method was applied to prepare sulfur-free expandable graphite, and microwave irradiation technology was adopted to prepare sulfur-free EG. The optimum weight ratio was as follows: NFG:NaClO4:C2H2O4 = 1.5:10:2. The anodic oxidation occurred under a constant current density of 47 mA/cm2, and the intercalation reaction lasted for 60 min at ambient temperature. The largest expanded volume (EV) of sulfur-free EG was 290 mL/g. The FTIR spectrum proved that the ClO4− and COO− groups had entered the graphite layers. The SEM images showed that the graphite layers were completely opened, and the pore structure was clearly observed. The sulfur-free EG prepared by the method does not cause environmental pollution and has broad application prospects.</span></p>

Revisiting the paradigm of reaction optimization in flow with a priori computational reaction intelligence

<p>The use of micro/meso-fluidic reactors has resulted in both new scenarios for chemistry and new requirements for chemists. Through flow chemistry, large-scale reactions can be performed in drastically reduced reactor sizes and reaction times. This obvious advantage comes with the concomitant challenge of re-designing long-established batch processes to fit these new conditions. The reliance on experimental trial-and-error to perform this translation frequently makes flow chemistry unaffordable, thwarting initial aspirations to revolutionize chemistry. By combining computational chemistry and machine learning, we have developed a model that provides predictive power tailored specifically to flow reactions. We show its applications to translate batch to flow, to provide mechanistic insight, to contribute reagent descriptors, and to synthesize a library of novel compounds in excellent yields after executing a single set of conditions.</p>
