Research collaboration patterns in sustainable mining – a co-authorship analysis of publications

<p>This dataset includes data related to 4220 articles on sustainable mining published from 1983 to 2018. The Scopus database was selected as a data source. Data from: Identification of candidate risk factor genes for human idelalisib toxicity using a collaborative cross approach

Idelalisib is a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor highly selective for the delta isoform that has shown good efficacy in treating chronic lymphocytic leukemia and follicular lymphoma. In clinical trials, however, idelalisib was associated with rare, but potentially serious liver and lung toxicities. In this study, we used the Collaborative Cross (CC) mouse population to identify genetic factors associated with the drug response that may inform risk management strategies for idelalisib in humans. Eight (8) male mice (4 matched pairs) from 50 CC lines were treated once daily for 14 days by oral gavage with either vehicle or idelalisib at a dose selected to achieve clinically-relevant peak plasma concentrations (150 mg/kg/day). The drug was well tolerated across all CC lines, and there were no observations of overt liver injury. Differences across CC lines were seen in drug concentration in plasma samples collected at the approximate Tmax on study Days 1, 7, and 14. There were also small but statistically significant treatment-induced alterations in plasma total bile acids and microRNA-122, and these may indicate early hepatocellular stress required for immune-mediated hepatotoxicity in humans. Idelalisib treatment further induced significant elevations in the total cell count of terminal bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, which may be analogous to pneumonitis observed in the clinic. Genetic mapping identified loci associated with interim plasma idelalisib concentration and the other three treatment-related endpoints. Thirteen (13) priority candidate quantitative trait genes identified in CC mice may now guide interrogation of risk factors for adverse drug responses associated with idelalisib in humans.

Dataset for collaborative prediction of web service quality based on user preferences and services

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The prediction of<b> </b>web service quality plays an important role in improving user services; it has been one of the most popular topics in the field of Internet services. In traditional collaborative filtering methods, differences in the personalization and preferences of different users have been ignored. In this paper, we propose a prediction method for<b> </b>web service quality based on different types of quality of service (QoS) attributes. Different extraction rules are applied to extract the user preference matrices from the original web data, and the negative value filtering-based top-K method is used to merge the optimization results into the collaborative prediction method. Thus, the individualized differences are fully exploited, and the problem of inconsistent QoS values is resolved. The experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed method. Compared with other methods, the proposed method performs better, and the results are closer to the real values.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

Data from: Playing 20 Questions with the mind: collaborative problem solving by humans using a brain-to-brain interface

We present, to our knowledge, the first demonstration that a non-invasive brain-to-brain interface (BBI) can be used to allow one human to guess what is on the mind of another human through an interactive question-and-answering paradigm similar to the "20 Questions" game. As in previous non-invasive BBI studies in humans, our interface uses electroencephalography (EEG) to detect specific patterns of brain activity from one participant (the "respondent"), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to deliver functionally-relevant information to the brain of a second participant (the "inquirer"). Our results extend previous BBI research by (1) using stimulation of the visual cortex to convey visual stimuli that are privately experienced and consciously perceived by the inquirer; (2) exploiting real-time rather than off-line communication of information from one brain to another; and (3) employing an interactive task, in which the inquirer and respondent must exchange information bi-directionally to collaboratively solve the task. The results demonstrate that using the BBI, ten participants (five inquirer-respondent pairs) can successfully identify a "mystery item" using a true/false question-answering protocol similar to the "20 Questions" game, with high levels of accuracy that are significantly greater than a control condition in which participants were connected through a sham BBI.

Data from: Candidate risk factors and mechanisms for tolvaptan-induced liver injury are identified using a collaborative cross approach

Clinical trials of tolvaptan showed it to be a promising candidate for the treatment of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) but also revealed potential for idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in this patient population. To identify risk factors and mechanisms underlying tolvaptan DILI, 8 mice in each of 45 strains of the genetically diverse Collaborative Cross (CC) mouse population were treated with a single oral dose of either tolvaptan or vehicle. Significant elevations in plasma alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were observed in tolvaptan-treated animals in 3 of the 45 strains. Genetic mapping coupled with transcriptomic analysis in the liver was used to identify several candidate susceptibility genes including epoxide hydrolase 2, interferon regulatory factor 3, and mitochondrial fission factor. Gene pathway analysis revealed that oxidative stress and immune response pathways were activated in response to tolvaptan treatment across all strains, but genes involved in regulation of bile acid homeostasis were most associated with tolvaptan-induced elevations in ALT. Secretory leukocyte peptidase inhibitor (Slpi) mRNA was also induced in the susceptible strains and was associated with increased plasma levels of Slpi protein, suggesting a potential serum marker for DILI susceptibility. In summary, tolvaptan induced signs of oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and innate immune response in all strains, but variation in bile acid homeostasis was most associated with susceptibility to the liver response. This CC study has indicated potential mechanisms underlying tolvaptan DILI and biomarkers of susceptibility that may be useful in managing the risk of DILI in ADPKD patients.

EuroVoc and thesauri from EU institutions and agencies Interoperability and perspectives for collaborative thesaurus management

<p>The EuroVoc thesaurus maintained by the EU Publications Office is available in 24 languages and is focused on the main areas of activity of the EU. Like EuroVoc, a number of multilingual specialised thesauri or controlled vocabularies are also maintained and disseminated independently with their own thesaurus management systems, inside the EU institutions and agencies.&nbsp; Thesaurus Alignment carried out in the Publications Office has shown that a number of concepts and terms are shared and duplicated amongst the EU thesauri.&nbsp;</p><p>With the objective of enhanced collaboration between EU multilingual thesauri, the Publications Office proposes to offer a collaborative environment for thesaurus maintenance, dissemination and alignment for EU institutions and agencies. The collaboration will enable mutual enrichment of our thesauri in terms of coverage, languages and the generation of Linked Data. Additionally, the project will help with reducing the efforts and costs of thesaurus maintenance, translation, hosting and development.</p>

The structure and dynamics of scientific collaborations in Europe (PhD. Dataset)

<p>The dataset comprises articles used in the qualitative analysis within the doctoral thesis entitled The Structure and Dynamics of Scientific Collaborations in Europe (Pințoiu-Mihăilă Bianca-Elena, 2023). These articles capture networks of authors and co-authors who have published on COVID-19 between 2020 and 2021. They also encompass information regarding the relationship between the number of prevention measures recommended by researchers and those implemented by the Romanian, Italian, or Swedish governments. The articles were found on the Web of Science using a search algorithm incorporating keywords such as COVID-19 and [country], publication year (for 2020 and 2021), document type (articles), Web of Science Category (Multidisciplinary Science, Sociology, and all other categories containing the term "policy"), sorted by country.</p>
