Large-antlered muntjac (Muntiacus vuquangensis) camera-trap photos from Virachey NP, Cambodia
<p>We present evidence of scent marking in the large-antlered muntjac (<em>Muntiacus</em> <em>vuquangensis</em>). Given the importance of scent marking in individual recognition among ungulates, this behavior may serve to communicate the fitness cost of antagonistic interactions among rival males and could serve as a mechanism for mate assessment among females.</p>

DATA FOR NON-INVASIVE (PHOTO) INDIVIDUAL FISH IDENTIFICATION OF MULTIPLE SPECIES
<p>This paper describes data from five studies focused on the individual fish identification of the same species. The lateral images of five fish species are present in the dataset. The dataset's primary purpose is to provide a data to develop a non-invasive and remote method of individual fish identification using fish skin patterns, which can serve as a substitute for the common invasive fish tagging. The lateral images of the whole fish body on the homogenous background for Sumatra barb, Atlantic salmon, Sea bass, Common carp and Rainbow trout are available with automatically extracted parts of the fish with skin patterns. A different number of individuals (Sumatra barb – 43, Atlantic salmon – 330, Sea bass – 300, Common carp – 32, Rainbow trout - 1849) were photographed by the digital camera Nikon D60 under controlled conditions. The photographs of only one side of the fish with several (from 3 to 20) repetitions were taken. Common carp, Rainbow trout and Sea bass were photographed out of the water. Atlantic salmon was photographed underwater, out of the water, and the eye of the fish was photographed by the microscope camera. Sumatra barb was photographed under the water only. For all species, except Rainbow trout, the data collection was repeated after a different period (Sumatra barb – four months, Atlantic salmon – six months, Sea bass – one month, Common carp – four months) to collect the data for a study of skin patter changes (aging). The development of the method for photo-based individual fish identification was performed on all datasets. The identification accuracy for all species for all periods was 100% using the nearest neighbour classification. Different methods for skin pattern parametrization were used. </p> <p>The dataset can be used to develop remote and non-invasive individual fish identification methods. The studies focused on the discrimination power of the skin pattern can benefit from it. The changes of skin patterns due to fish aging can be explored from the dataset.</p>
Long term photo - identification of european seabass

Data were collected in HCMR, Greece.The long-term scenario - for proving the stability of the visible features on the fish body for the identification of the fish during the long-term cultivation period. We used 32 fish individuals of seabass during 3 months experiment. Data were collected two times during this time. 32 fish were tagged for long-term identification. Trovan, 2 x 11.5 mm, ISO 11784/85 FDX-B PIT stages were used for tagging.</p>

This opens for exploiting these states as microenvironmental read-out parameters in bio-molecular spectroscopy and imaging, and to explore fluorophores with prominent dark-state formation yields to be used in such studies. In this work, we analyzed the singlet-triplet transitions of fluorescein by transient state (TRAST) spectroscopy and compared them with those of three synthesized carboxy-fluorescein derivatives, with one, two or four bromines linked to the anthracence backbone. By this bromination, a prominent internal heavy atom (IHA) enhancement of the intersystem crossing (ISC) rates was found, and a corresponding external heavy atom (EHA) enhancement upon adding potassium iodide (KI) into the fluorophore solutions. Notably, increased KI concentrations still resulted in lowered triplet state buildup in the brominated fluorophores, due to the relatively lower increase induced in the ISC, than in the triplet decay. Moreover, KI had an antioxidative effect on the fluorophores, resulting in an overall fluorescence enhancement of the brominated fluorophores. The mechanisms behind the prominent IHA effect were further investigated by density functional theory calculations, which suggest that the ISC likely takes place to a higher triplet state, followed by relaxation to the lowest triplet state.</p> <p>By TRAST measurements, performed under biologically relevant conditions and analyzing how the average fluorescence intensity of fluorescent molecules varies with a systematically varied excitation modulation, dark state transitions within very high triplet yield (>90%) fluorophores can be directly analyzed, as well as IHA and EHA effects. These measurements, not possible by other techniques such as fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, opens for bio-sensing applications based on high triplet yield fluorophores, and for characterization of high triplet yield photodynamic therapy agents, and how they are influenced by IHA and EHA effects. </p>

<table> <tbody> <tr> <td> <p>The dataset contains transcription and photos from the Intensive Creative Workshop II on Futurisation organised within the FEDORA project. The workshop was held in Bologna on the 21st and 22nd of April 2022 and involved 9 participants from 4 European countries with diverse backgrounds: science communicators, artists, graphic designers, musicians, poets, and researchers. Participants worked in three groups, and each of them received a problem to be solved based on the current situations that young students face.
