Lurgan Farm 5 - Cup & Ring Marked Rock

Lurgan Farm 5 is a fragmented outcrop amongst an extensive series of rock art panels which are hidden deep within a tree plantation near Aberfeldy. There are many & varied markings over this series over panels. In particular : - 3 crudely carved cup and ring marks, one with two rings the other with one. Their component cups and rings are notably asymmetric. - About 14 individual cup marks of 4- 6 cm diam. scattered and in small grouping around the panels - 2 oval depressions (about 10 x 6 cm axes) - 2 larger circular depressions, adjacent to one of the cup & ring marks. Each depression has a carved gutter leading downslope from it. - The bottom right hand panel (SW) is covered in about 60 microcups (<1 cm) , grading into peck marks. There appears to be some rough regularity in the spacing and alignment of the marks including 2 possible rosette arrangements around a couple of the slightly larger of the cup marks - The panel above this has further peck marks including 7 which show a clear curving alignment. Nether Glenny 1 - Cup & Ring Marked Rock

These are the main motifs on this shelf of sandstone bedrock at the Nether Glenny-Ballochraggan rock art group near Port of Menteith at NN 56880 02768. The left hand cup mark is surrounded closely with three inner rings and the fourth orbits these at a disproportionately large radius. Two parallel grooves radiate from the second & third rings respectively to join the adjacent smaller cup and ring mark. The grooves of the rings have almost continuous alignments of small circular pits within them. These appear to be tool marks that have been enhanced by weathering. Conical Cup

This is a representation of a conical cup created by experimental archaeologist Dr. Caroline Jeffra. It is wheel-coiled, built as a coiled rough-out and finished on the wheel. Technical details The 3D model was created with the David SLS-3 scanner, operated by Loes Opgenhaffen. The original file size is 1.82GB, has a resolution of 0.0848mm (vertex spacing) and contains 8556554 vertices. To be able to make a printable model that still shows the relevant traces, it was decimated to 133698 vertices (43MB). In this case, only focus was placed on the exterior of the cup, leaving misalignment traces caused during post-processing on the interior. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

RK17 00742 Little Cup

RK17 00742 is a Little Cup found during the archaeological excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. In 2017 and 2018, the shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a 300 year old Dutch East India Company (VOC) ship which sank on the treacherous Goodwin Sands in January 1740 off the coast of England, was excavated by an international team of maritime archaeologists. Post-excavation work began straight after each excavation campaign, focusing on ex-situ research, the conservation and analysis of the artefacts and will continue until the end of the project. The #Rooswijk1740 project is funded and led by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture), in collaboration with project partner Historic England and UK-contractor MSDS Marine. Allt Coire Phadairlidh 1 - Cup Marked Stone

This small, very weathered stone lies on the 360 metre contour on a SE facing slope above Loch Tay beneath Meall Greigh in a group of morainic boulders. The rock is probably amphibolite (although the surface is too lichen covered to be sure) and there are 7 cup marks discernable in the field, with the model suggesting perhaps up to 10. The model seems to hint at a ring around largest cup on the SE edge, although this was not seen at all in the field. Manipulation of complex objects dataset - Rhythmic Cup Task experiment

<p>This dataset contains raw data from a behavioral neuroscience experiment conducted at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA.</p> <p>Ten participants rhythmically manipulated a virtual cup containing a ball via a robotic manipulandum which controlled the cup position and provided haptic feedback of the force applied by the ball. The cup movement was constrained to 1 dimension. Participants were free to choose the frequency of oscillation, while the amplitude was imposed by visual constraints. The cup and ball system was represented mathematically by a cart and pendulum system. The following dimensions were used for the experiment: pendulum length = 0.45m, pendulum mass = 0.6kg, cart mass = 2.4kg.</p> <p>Each participant performed 5 blocks of 10 trials. For each data file, the first 2 letters identify (anonymously) a participant, the first number identifies the block and the second number identifies the trial within the block.</p> <p>The data are in Matlab data format. "RackPosition" (resp. Velocity, Acceleration) corresponds to the cart position (resp. velocity, acceleration). Y is the axis of the movement. "BallTheta" and "BallOmega" are the pendulum angular position and velocity. Please note that in this dataset angles are positive in clockwise direction (contrary to usual mechanical conventions). "BallForce" is the force applied by the pendulum on the cart.</p> <p>This experimental dataset was  confronted to simulation results obtained with two different models. One ("Uncoupled Model") only simulates the dynamics of a cart and pendulum system (Matlab script "cup_task_uncoupled_model_inverde_dynamics.m" and "simulation_cup_task_uncoupled_model_inverse_dynamics.m"). Simulations of this Uncoupled Model are run using inverse dynamics, assuming a sinusoidal trajectory of the cart. The second model ("Coupled Model") includes a simplified model of hand dynamics, represented by an ideal force generator in parallel with a spring and a damper to simulate hand impedance (Matlab and Simulink scripts "cup_task_coupled_model.slx" and "simulation_coupled_model_forward_dynamics.m"). Simulations of this Coupled Model are run using forward dynamics</p> <p> </p>

North Ballachulish - Cup Marked Rock

On a promontory about 5m directly above the shore of Loch Leven, this cup marked rock is located in a beautiful spot (NN 05778 59961). Nearly 60 cups where counted in the field and others have counted more but some are so indistinct that it is difficult to tell whether or not they are natural or man made. Allt Coire Phadairlidh 4 - Cup & Ring Mark Stone

This very weathered, whalebacked stone lies on the 470 metre contour on a SE facing slope above Loch Tay beneath Meall Greigh just above the bank of a small burn &amp; immediately adjacent to another, flatter cup &amp; ring marked stone. It is made of schist and is extremely weathered due to exposed position. We counted 2 possible (but barely discernable) cup marks &amp; in the field. These seem to be borne out by the Agisoft solid model but can't really be seen on this Sketchfab model. There are also perhaps 4-6 or so single cup marks but this number could be higher or lower based on interpretation of whay might likely be natural markings.
