Experimental Data for: Hierarchical Software Landscape Visualization for System Comprehension: A Controlled Experiment

<p>In many enterprises the number of deployed applications is constantly increasing. Those applications - often several hundreds - form large software landscapes. The comprehension of such landscapes is frequently impeded due to, for instance, architectural erosion, personnel turnover, or changing requirements. Therefore, an efficient and effective way to comprehend such software landscapes is required. The current state of the art often visualizes software landscapes via flat graph-based representations of nodes, applications, and their communication.</p> <p>In our ExplorViz visualization, we introduce hierarchical abstractions aiming at solving typical system comprehension tasks fast and accurately for large software landscapes. To evaluate our hierarchical approach, we conduct a controlled experiment comparing our hierarchical landscape visualization to a flat, state-of-the-art visualization. In addition, we thoroughly analyze the strategies employed by the participants and provide a package containing all our experimental data to facilitate the verifiability, reproducibility, and further extensibility of our results.</p> <p>We observed a statistically significant increase of 14 % in task correctness of the hierarchical visualization group compared to the flat visualization group in our experiment. The time spent on the system comprehension tasks did not show any significant differences. The results backup our claim that our hierarchical concept enhances the current state of the art in landscape visualization.</p> <p>This package contains our experimental data.</p>

Single-cell ATAC-seq control of cross-contaminations (experiment 2)

<p>On the Fluidigm C1 platform for single-cell analysis, the cells are captured in 96 chambers arranged serially, and then washed before further processing.  Thus, debris present from the loading medium or released by captured cells upstream are a possible source of contamination.  We generated a control datasets using the single-cell ATAC-seq protocol available from Fluidigm's ScriptHub.  We cultivated human Hep G2 and mouse Hepa 1-6 (both are liver cancer cell lines), stained them with green and red calceins (respectively), and loaded them at equal concentration in a Fluidigm medium flow cell (old design), before running the C1 single-cell ATAC-seq program. To evaluate damage and carry-over of debris from FACS-sorting, two IFCs were run in two C1 machines in parallel.  In the first (flowcell ID 1772-123-155), the cells not washed and in the second, they were washed (ID 1772-123-158).</p> <p>The data deposited here is a sequencing run (Illumina MiSeq) of these ATAC-seq libraries. The metadata indicating the contents of each well is being uploaded separately and this record will be updated once the DOIs are available.</p>

While there is a broad range of software visualization approaches, only few have been empirically evaluated. This is detrimental to the acceptance of software visualization in both the academic and the industrial world. We present a controlled experiment for the empirical evaluation of a 3D software visualization approach based on a city metaphor and implemented in a tool called CodeCity. The goal is to provide experimental evidence of the viability of our approach in the context of program comprehension by having subjects perform tasks related to program comprehension. We designed our experiment based on lessons extracted from the current body of research. We conducted the experiment in four locations across three countries, involving 41 participants from both academia and industry. The experiment shows that CodeCity leads to a statistically significant increase in terms of task correctness and decrease in task completion time. We detail the experiment we performed, discuss its results and reflect on the many lessons learned.</p>

Raw Data for the article: Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt: A Single-Centre Mid-term Experience Using the Viatorr Controlled-Expansion Stent

<p>Authors reported a high incidence of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) using the Viatorr Controlled Expansion stent (VCX) (Gore, Flagstaff AZ) in a cohort of 33 patients underwent transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation. In detail 6 and 12 month overall HE rate was 53% and 61%. Those results are different as compared to our preliminary experience, with the same stent, in which the overall HE rate was 22% in a cohort of 75 patients and with a mean follow up of 5.8 months.</p>

<p>Videos of the experiments for the paper &quot;Constrained Control of UAVs in Geofencing Applications&quot;.</p> <p>Experimental results of the AR Drone flying in a constrained environment. There are three successive experiments:</p> <ol> <li>Wall constraint (without ERG): the first experiment consists in moving the UAV to a certain position (allowed). After it is stabilized, we set the desired point in an inadmissible region. Without the ERG, the UAV goes beyond the net (violating the constraint).</li> <li>Wall constraint (with ERG): the second experiment consists in moving first the UAV to a safe position where it hovers. Then, we set the desired point outside the admissible region. With the ERG implemented, the UAV moves safely towards the reference but stops at the net, minimizing the distance with the reference.</li> <li>Obstacle constraint (with ERG): The third experiment consists in first hovering the UAV at the origin. Then, the desired position is set behind the obstacle (PVC pipe). In non-constrained operation, the UAV moves in a straight line and hits the object, but with the ERG, the UAV avoids the obstacle and reaches the desired point in a safe way.</li> </ol>

Postprocessed output from VR-CESM with refinement over the greater Greenland area and a CAM-SE control experiment

<p>This dataset contains post-processed monthly output from two VR-CESM simulations that were performed with CAM5.4 and CLM5, with refinement patches over the greater Greenland area. Data from a standard, quasi-uniform CAM-SE simulations is included as well. Data from a controlled drought experiment in greenhouse conditions on saplings of Prunus spinosa

<p>Dataset with measurements and observations on saplings of Prunus spinosa in a common garden setting (three European populations are included), that were treated with water withholding in the summer of 2021 in greenhouse conditions.</p> <p>One dataset&nbsp; contains the data on all 274 saplings that are included in the experiment. The second dataset contains measurements and counts of stomata on a subset of 57 saplings. The two datasets can be connected by the plant ID.</p>
