IODP Expedition 362 Piece log

Dataset includes length data for every whole-round piece: bin length, whole-round piece length (measured by curation staff), and both the archive- and working-half piece lengths (optionally measured by scientists).

IODP Expedition 362 Gas safety report

This composite report returns data from two different gas chromatograph configurations (GC3 and NGA). Each row combines data from several measurements made on the same sample at the same time for a particular headspace or vacutainer sample. If data do not exist for a particular expedition, the column does not appear. Gas samples were measured by gas chromatography and either flame ionization detection (GC-FID) or thermal conductivity detection (GC-TCD). Reported analytes may include methane, ethane, ethene, propane, propene, n-butane, i-butane, n-pentane, i-pentane, n-hexane, i-hexane, n-heptane, i-heptane, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide. When data are available, methane to (ethane + ethene) ratio (C1/C2ratio) is reported. To identify individual samples and tests, see each separate analysis (GC3, NGAFID, and/or NGATCD).

IODP Expedition 362 ICP-AES elemental analysis (interstitial water)

Elemental concentration in interstitial water samples was measured by inductively coupled plasma - atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Data are presented by element-wavelength pair (e.g., more than one calcium line may be reported). Elemental lines for which data do not exist for a particular expedition will not appear.

IODP Expedition 362 Vane shear strength (AVS)

Shear strength was measured on section halves using a GEISA automated vane shear (AVS) frame and device controller. The device is suitable for sediment not affected by cementation (i.e., saturated, clay-rich, soft sediment). Shear strength measurements should be considered only approximate, particularly because the influence of pore pressure changes during the undrained experiment cannot be estimated. Report includes vane shear strength at the sample's failure point, maximum torque angle, penetration direction, and rate of vane rotation.

IODP Expedition 362 Rig instrumentation

Operational rig information data were measured using a variety of sensors and compiled using the RigWatch software package. Approximately 50 channels of drilling/coring data are captured in real time during the expedition. Data are presented as ASCII files extracted from the proprietary RigWatch data files and are presented by expedition. RigWatch data in time or depth domain can be imported into graphics and analysis programs to be merged and correlated with core physical properties data to enhance assessment of poor core recovery intervals.

IODP Expedition 362 Core drilling summary

Report includes detailed drilling data for each core: pump(s) used, mud pumped, strokes, shear pins/pressure, bit size/rotation, weight on bit, top drive torque, rate of penetration, core jams, winch and wirelines, core catcher/shoe and barrel, and whether core orientation, drillover, formation temperature, tracers, liners were used.

IODP Expedition 362 Spectrophotometry

Interstitial water constitutents were measured by UV-VIS spectrometry using colorimetric methods (e.g., ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silica, and sulfide) by an Agilent CARY 100 UV-VIS spectrophotometer.

IODP Expedition 362 Towed magnetometer

Seafloor magnetometer data were measured using a Marine Magnetics 1000 m SeaSpy towed magnetometer. Raw log and data files are presented by expedition.

IODP Expedition 362 Scanning electron microscope images

Microscopic images of discrete samples were acquired using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and captured as image files. These files were uploaded along with a brief description and a record of the microscopic conditions when the image was taken.

IODP Expedition 362 Micropaleontology

Paleontological data were collected using microscopes and recorded in the JRSO description software. All data for a species group (e.g., diatoms or nannofossils) were collected in a Microsoft Excel worksheet by hole. A zip file of the entire expedition's observations is also available.

IODP Expedition 362 Hole drilling summary

Report includes detailed drilling data: BHA length, bit parameters, and primary depth measurements.
