The latter dedicated his work to a statesman, whom he names Jam&acirc;l al-d&icirc;n Abu-Isḥ&acirc;ḳ.</p> <p>Jurj&acirc;n&icirc; completed his commentary in Shaww&acirc;l, 807 [=April 1405 CE], at Samarḳand, and dedicated it, in a special preface, to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pir_Muhammad_(son_of_Jahangir)">Sultan Ghiy&acirc;th al-d&icirc;n P&icirc;r Muḥammad</a> (son of Jah&acirc;ng&icirc;r and grandson of T&icirc;m&ucirc;r, dethroned A.H. 809 [= 1406-07 CE]). This preface begins:</p> <p>سبحان من تقدست سبحات جماله عن سمت الحدوث و الزوال</p> <p>The commentary commences:</p> <p>و هانا افیض فی المقصود متوکلا علی الصمد المعبود و اقول ضمن المصنف الخ</p> <p>A valuable copy, dated A.H. 869 [= 1464-65 CE]. It was transcribed from a MS. which had been written by a pupil of the author [named as&nbsp;&nbsp;احمد بن عبدالعزیز بن احمد الشیفکی], and revised throughout. The colophon runs as follows:</p> <p>تَمَّ الکتاب بحمد الله ...(و) کان الفراغ من تعلیقه بعد صلوة العصر من یوم الاربعاء حادی و عشرین شهر شعبان الکریم احد شهور سنة تسع و ستین و ثمانی مائة من تاریخ الهجرة النبویة و نسخت هذه النسخة من اصل مصحح اجتهد فیه صاحبه ضبظا و تصحیحا من اوله الی آخره و هو من اجلّ تلامذة مؤلف الکتاب و کتب فی آخر نسخته ما هذا صورته مِنْ کُتُب اضعف العباد و احقرهم المحتاج الی ربه الغفور احمد بن عبدالعزیز بن احمد الشیفکی اصلح الله حاله...و مجموع الکتاب خط صاحبه متنًا و حاشیة و یسأل الله تعالی ان یوفق لتصحیح هذه النسخة و ضبطها لتضاهی اصلها فانه اصل معتمد یقلّ فی الدنیا نظیره و الحمدلله ...علقها العبد الفقیر الی الله تعالی موسی بن احمد الصریفی الزوالی عرف بالمکسکس جده العالی خِدْمة لسیّده الفقیه العلامة الاوحد برهان الملة و الدین ابرهیم بن ابی القاسم بن جعمان (؟) ایّده الله و سدّده</p> <p>Well written, but without diacritical points. Marginal notes. The preface of Jurj&acirc;n&icirc; is prefixed to the book in a different hand.</p> <p>This MS. consisted originally of 360 foll. A lacuna in the midle of it was restored by two more modern hands, but part of this modern portion (after fol. 172) is now also lost and part is much injured by insects.</p> <p>The defect comprises the end of Book (موقف) III. The MS. is also damaged at the end.</p> <p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijapur_Collection">B&icirc;j.
