Dataset: Cross-Sectional National Survey on Risk Perception and Tourism Behaviour (SNF NRP 78)

<p>The data set contains scales (<em>rating items</em>) on the willingness of the Swiss resident population to take risks in connection with touristic travel during the coronavirus pandemic. The data includes a selection of items of the&nbsp;<em>Domain-Specific Risk-Taking Scale</em> (<em>DOSPERT)&nbsp;</em>(Weber et al., 2002). The data contains measures of the <em>health belief model</em> (<em>HBM</em>; Rosenstock, 1960, see also Champion &amp; Skinner, 2008) that&nbsp;is used both in health research and in tourism research to explain and predict the preventive health behaviour of individuals. Furthermore, the data covers all three elements of the t<em>heory of planned behaviour (</em>Ajzen, 1991).&nbsp;This is a representative data set for the Swiss population aged 18 and above. A trilingual and national survey of the Swiss resident population was carried out in the period from March to May 2021. A letter of invitation to participate in the study was sent by post to a total of 4,530 randomly selected persons residing in Switzerland. The address data was provided by the Federal Statistical Office (BfS). Of the total of 4,530 people contacted, 164 were reported as unreachable (no longer at the address, deceased, or due to old age). A total of 1,683 persons participated in the survey. This corresponds to a response rate of 39%. The structure of the respondents corresponds to that of the Swiss resident population 18 years of age and older with regard to gender, age, and language region.</p> <p>Ajzen, I. (1991). Experimental assessment of the mixing quality in a circular cross-sectional t-shaped mixer for the precipitation of sparingly soluble compounds

<p>Precipitation processes have been successfully proved to be a feasible route to extract high-value products from wastes. However, reactive crystallization is characterized by fast kinetics, especially when highly concentrated solutions are used or sparingly soluble compounds precipitate, thus requiring a fast mixing of the reactants. In this context, T-shaped mixers have been extensively investigated both experimentally and numerically as a mean to achieve a rapid reactants homogenization. Many research efforts have been focused on the analysis of rectangular cross-sectional T-shaped mixers, while less attention has been devoted to the study of circular cross-sectional ones. In the present work, mixing times in a 3 mm circular cross-sectional T-shaped mixer have been optically estimated by exploiting the extremely fast neutralization reaction between sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid solutions. Reynolds numbers ranging between 1,000 and 6,000 were investigated. Mixing phenomena were (i) captured by detecting the colour change of a pH indicator by means of a high frame rate camera and (ii) quantified by a suitable image analysis technique. The assessed mixing times were found in accordance with available data in the literature.</p>

Data from: The MRi-Share database: Brain imaging in a cross-sectional cohort of 1,870 university students

<p>We report on MRi-Share, a multi-modal brain MRI database acquired in a unique sample of 1,870 young healthy adults, aged 18 to 35 years, while undergoing university-level education. MRi-Share contains structural (T1 and FLAIR), diffusion (multispectral), susceptibility weighted (SWI), and resting-state functional imaging modalities. Here, we described the contents of these different neuroimaging datasets and the processing pipelines used to derive brain phenotypes, as well as how quality control was assessed. In addition, we present preliminary results on associations of some of these brain image-derived phenotypes at the whole brain level with both age and sex, in the subsample of 1,722 individuals aged less than 26 years. We demonstrate that the post-adolescence period is characterized by changes in both structural and microstructural brain phenotypes. Grey matter cortical thickness, surface area and volume were found to decrease with age, while white matter volume shows increase. Diffusivity, either radial or axial, was found to robustly decrease with age whereas fractional anisotropy only slightly increased. As for the neurite orientation dispersion and densities, both were found to increase with age. The isotropic volume fraction also showed a slight increase with age. These preliminary findings emphasize the complexity of changes in brain structure and function occurring in this critical period at the interface of late maturation and early aging.</p>

For each category the officially recommended minimum or maximum amount of weekly intake was used as the cut-off value and a point was assigned if the recommendation was met. A score from 0 to 5 was built to reflect the overall healthiness of the diet.</li> </ul>

Evaluating the Prevalence and Impact of Chronic Ankle Insta-bility in Collegiate Athletes across Various Sports: A Cross-Sectional Study.

<p>In the cross-sectional study "Evaluating the Prevalence and Impact of Chronic Ankle Instability in Collegiate Athletes across Various Sports," researchers sought to quantify how widespread chronic ankle instability (CAI) is among collegiate athletes and to determine its effects on athletic performance and training. The study involved 385 athletes from diverse sports, including basketball, soccer, track and field, swimming, and other sports, and revealed that CAI was present in nearly half of the participants. The investigation highlighted significant disparities in prevalence rates among different sports, with basketball and soccer athletes exhibiting higher rates of CAI. Furthermore, the study assessed the impact of CAI on several performance metrics such as training intensity, performance scores, and recovery times, finding that athletes with CAI generally showed lower performance levels and longer recovery times. These results emphasize the need for targeted preventive and rehabilitative strategies to mitigate the effects of CAI and support athlete health and performance.</p>
