Geological areas of interest for Geothermal District Heating utilization in Europe - GeoDH project
<p>The dataset includes four shapefiles showing the location data of geological areas of interest for Geothermal District Heating, including hot sedimentary aquifers and Neogene basins. The hot sedimentary aquifers layer represents areas where Neogene basin contours (sourced from the IGME Europe geological map at a scale of 1:5,000,000) overlap with regions where subsurface temperatures exceed 50°C at 1000m depth and/or 100°C at 2000m depth.<br><br>This dataset was developed for assessing the potential of Geothermal District Heating in Europe as part of the <strong>GeoDH project</strong> (<a href="http://geodh.eu/" target="_new" rel="noopener">http://geodh.eu/</a>). Please note that this represents the<strong> state of the art as of 2014</strong> and that geological, technological, and regulatory developments may have occurred since its creation, and users should verify if more recent data is available for their purposes.</p>

Guaranteed Publisher/Subscriber Anonymity with Interest Profiles for Smart Cities Applications: Trends and Gaps
<p>Studies carried out in the context of anonymous Publisher/Subscriber (MQTT protocol) and with a profile of interest, are topics that the literature and the IoT (Internet of Things) industry face to implement models, architecture and architectural patterns, mainly related to anonymity, and the profile of interest there is nothing in literature or industry. In this way, the creation of an architecture based on these themes can facilitate the communication of IoT devices in smart cities. Therefore, this article aims to identify in the literature/industry how to guarantee the anonymity of Publisher/Subscriber with interest profiles using the MQTT protocol, and as future works to create an architecture based on the theme so that it can be used by academia and industry. IoT. The search string returned 291 (Two hundred and Ninety-One) works, of which 4 (Four) were selected according to the criteria of the Systematic Literature Review.</p>

Opposing life history strategies allow grass shrimp parasites to avoid a conflict of interest
<p>A conflict of interest occurs when parasites manipulate the behavior of their host in contradictory ways to achieve different goals. In grass shrimp (<em>Palaemonetes pugio</em>), trematode parasites that use shrimp as an intermediate host cause the shrimp to be more active than usual around predators, whereas bopyrid isopod parasites that use shrimp as a final host elicit the opposite response. Since these parasites are altering the host's behavior in opposing directions, a conflict of interest would occur in co-infected shrimp. Natural selection should favor attempts to resolve this conflict through avoidance, killing, or sabotage. In a field survey of shrimp populations in four tidal creeks in the Cape Fear River, we found a significant negative association between the two parasites. Parasite abundance was negatively correlated in differently sized hosts, suggesting avoidance as a mechanism. Subsequent mortality experiments showed no evidence of early death of co-infected hosts. In behavior trials, co-infected shrimp did not show significantly different behavior from singly infected or uninfected shrimp, suggesting that neither parasite sabotages the manipulation of the other. Taken together, our results suggest that rather than sabotaging or killing one another, bopyrid and trematode parasites tend to infect differently sized hosts, thus avoiding a conflict and confirming the importance of testing assumptions in natural contexts.</p>
