Residual limb models scanned using the EINScan Pro 2X Plus scanner with added HD Prime Pack

This dataset contains limb models scanned using the EINScan Pro 2X Plus scanner. At each of 3 sites, operator 1 (OP1) scanned the four limb models twice (OP1-A and OP1-B) with the structured-light scanner, and operator 2 (OP2) scanned the four limb models once with the same scanner, for a total of 12 scans per site. At the European site, an additional reference scan of each positive model (4 scans) was conducted by an independent professional Operator (OP0) using the metrological scanner (EINScan Laser FreeScan 5X).

Data from: genetic evidence of differential dispersal pattern in Asiatic wild dog: comparing populations with different pack size and tiger densities

Dispersal is a multi-causal, crucial life-history event in shaping the genetic and behavioral structure of mammals. We assessed the dispersal pattern of dholes aka Asiatic wild dog (Cuon alpinus), a social monogamous mammal at two tiger reserves of Maharashtra with different degrees of pack size and competition with tigers i.e. Tadoba-Andhari (TATR, smaller pack size, higher tiger density) and Nawegaon-Nagzira (NNTR, larger pack size, lower tiger density). We used the microsatellite data of 174 individual genotypes (98 males and 67 females) to assess the dispersal pattern of dholes from two populations with varying pack size, tiger density, and landscape connectivity using gene flow as a proxy. We compared the population structure, pairwise F statistics, assignment index, and relatedness across a spatial scale. Overall, the results suggested a difference in sex-bias dispersal pattern for the two sub-populations, exhibiting significant results for female-biased dispersal in the TATR population with a smaller pack size and higher tiger density. Our study highlights the variability in sex-biased dispersal patterns in two different populations which could be the consequence of different variables such as pack size, tiger density, and geographical scale. The study warrants further quantitative investigation including several factors including individual behavior, pack composition, pack size, tiger density, etc. In the present Anthropocene era, determining the sex bias in dispersal patterns for a short-range, pack-living carnivore will help in devising an effective conservation management plan for their long-term survival.

Tomography data for interparticle contact detection analysis in spheroidal granular packings

This collection contains a series of synchrotron XCT scans on a hexagonal close-packed arrangement of soda-glass pellets. The field of view (FOV) diameter is 68.9 mm in diameter, approximately, and the nominal individual pellet diameter is 10 mm. The detector pixel size is 21 microns for all scans. The pellets were arranged in three horizontal lattices (layers). The middle and top lattices were separated by a layer of polyethylene film (cling film), while the bottom and middle layer were fully-contacting. Each file corresponds to a scan of either the bottom contacting or top non-contacting lattice pair. Thus, each filename includes a 'top' and 'bot' identifier.

Acquisition parameters (number of projections, exposure time per projection, rotation range and sample position) were varied to achieve different image qualities and are included in 'README.txt'. All but scan A5 were local scans; scan A5 is a full-field scan acquired using the 'half-acquisition' method.

Tomographic reconstruction was carried out using filtered back-projection in Savu. After reconstruction, a 3D median filter (kernel size = 2) and an anisotropic diffusion filter (diffusion threshold = 100; iterations = 2) were used to reduce noise.

Data was acquired using Beamline I12-JEEP at Diamond Light Source (proposal NT26307-1).

Please read README.txt

Copyright 2021 Diamond Light Source Ltd. Effects of disturbance on plant regrowth along snow pack gradients in alpine habitats

Human disturbance in alpine habitats is expected to increase, and improved knowledge of short-term recovery after disturbance events is necessary to interpret vegetation responses and formulate planning and mitigation efforts. The ability of a plant community to return to its original state after a disturbance (community resilience) depends on species composition and environmental conditions. The aim of this study is to analyze initial short-term effects of disturbance in alpine plant communities in contrasting climates (oceanic vs. continental; central Norway). We used a nested block-design to examine vegetative regrowth and seedling recruitment after experimental perturbation. Three plant community types along the snow pack gradient were exposed to (1) no disturbance, (2) clipping, and (3) clipping and uprooting. Slow vegetative regrowth and low seedling establishment rates were found in dry alpine ridges and late-melting oceanic snowbed communities. Leeside habitats with intermediate snow conditions were found more resilient. The difference was related to growth form and species diversity. Woody species, which dominated in ridges and oceanic snowbeds, showed the most negative response to disturbance. Species-rich plant communities dominated by graminoids and herbs showed higher rates of regrowth. Species richness seems to cause resilience to the plant communities through higher response diversity. Plant communities at the extreme ends of abiotic gradients, ridges and late-melting snowbeds, will be most sensitive to both disturbance and environmental change. In an up-scaled human-used landscape disturbance effects will be amplified and further limit recovery to a pre-disturbance state.

ReSPack: A Large-Scale Rectilinear Steiner Tree Packing Benchmark for Wire Routing

Combinatorial optimization (CO) has been studied as a useful tool for modeling industrial problems, but it still remains a challenge in complex domains because of the NP-hardness. With recent advances in machine learning, the field of CO is shifting to the study of neural combinatorial optimization using a large amount of data, showing promising results in some CO problems. Rectilinear Steiner Tree Packing Problem (RSTPP) is a well-known CO problem and is widely used in modeling wiring problem among components in a printed circuit board and an integrated circuit design. Despite the importance for a design automation, the lack of availab le data has restricted to fully leverage machine learning approaches. In this paper, we present ReSPack, a large-scale synthetic RSTPP dataset and a benchmark for wire routing. ReSPack includes a source code for generating RSTPP problems of various types with different sizes, data instances generated for the benchmark testing, and implementations of several baseline algorithms. We believe that ReSPack can contribute to solving circuit design problems as well as the development of CO with machine learning.

The illicit cigarette market in the DRC: datasets from a cross-sectional study of empty cigarette packs

This study aimed to estimate the proportion of cigarettes consumed in the DRC that are illicit and the extent of cigarette tax evasion; and to identify the origins of and factors associated with illicit cigarettes.

Stratified, multistage sampling was used to select 32 health areas across eight provinces in the DRC from which empty cigarette packs were collected. Each collected pack was examined and classified as licit if it complied, or illicit if it did not comply with the DRC’s tax stamp or written health warning requirements; or the requirements to have a notice indicating the prohibition of sale by/to minors or information on tar and nicotine content. Cigarette retail price information was also collected for each brand represented within the collected empty packs. Data was collected from May 15 to June 9, 2023.

'Dataset_allpacks ORIGINAL' contains the data for each collected empty pack

'Explanation_dataset_allpacks' is the codebook that explains the variables in 'Dataset_allpacks ORIGINAL'

'Dataset_retailers' contains the data collected from retailers, including cigarette retail prices

'Explanation_dataset_retailers' is the codebook that explains the variables in 'Dataset_retailers'
