NASA-SSH Along-Track Sea Surface Height from Standardized Reference Missions Version 1

The NASA-SSH Along-Track Sea Surface Height from Standardized Reference Missions Version 1 dataset produced by NASA provide observations of sea surface height, or sea level, anomaly measured using radar altimeter satellites in the reference mission orbit. These include TOPEX/Poseidon, the Jason series, and Sentinel-6. The data begin in Oct 1992, with data from TOPEX/Poseidon, and continues to the present. In this data set all missions have been referenced to a common baseline, additional quality control has been performed, and errors with wavelengths around one orbital cycle have been reduced.
The data consist of along-track observations of sea surface height, collected approximately once per second (1 Hz), and are parsed into files containing one day’s worth of data per file. A flag variable is included to allow users to easily select only valid observations, and a variable containing sea surface height with the flag applied and a small amount along track smoothing (~20 km), is suggested for most users.
Additionally, a “basin” flag variable is provided, along with a table defining it. This allows users to easily select all observations from a specific body of water. The basin flag assigns a number to each point corresponding to a specific ocean basin or lake. A table is included with a text description of each basin number. A text version of that table is available (https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/basin_name_table.txt). The basin definitions can be downloaded as a shape file from https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/basin_polygon_files.tar.gz, or as a kml file https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/NASA-SSH_Basins.kmz.
New data will be released approximately once per week, with a latency of a few weeks.

NASA-SSH Simple Gridded Sea Surface Height from Standardized Reference Missions Only Version 1

The NASA-SSH Simple Gridded Sea Surface Height from Standardized Reference Missions Only Version 1 dataset produced by NASA provides 2-D maps of sea surface height, or sea level, anomaly once every 7 days. The grids are based on observations of sea surface height from the radar altimeter satellites in the reference mission orbits, including TOPEX/Poseidon, the Jason series, and Sentinel-6. The data begin in Oct 1992 and continue through the present. They are created using the NASA-SSH Along-Track Sea Surface Height from Standardized Reference Missions Version 1 dataset.
The grids consist of 10-days worth of observations, which covers approximately 1 complete repeat cycle of observations from the reference missions. The grids are produced on a 0.5-degree latitude and longitude grid, by taking a simple gaussian weighted spatial average with a width of 100 km. The grids are produced every 7 days to allow for easy interpolation in time. However, since they are created using 10-days of data, there is some overlap of information between adjacent time steps. The grids are also created using the basin flags to avoid mixing data from distinct ocean basins (for example, to avoid mixing observations from the Caribbean Sea with observations from the Pacific across the Isthmus of Panama). Connected basins are allowed to share data, however. This is accomplished by using a table of connections between basins. The basin connection table is available (https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/basin_connection_table.txt). The basin definitions can be downloaded as a shape file from https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/basin_polygon_files.tar.gz, or as a kml file https://archive.podaac.earthdata.nasa.gov/podaac-ops-cumulus-docs/web-misc/nasa-ssh/NASA-SSH_Basins.kmz.
A new grid will be released approximately once per week, with a latency of a few weeks.

Metrological generation of SI-traceable gas-phase standards and reference materials for (semi-) volatile organic compounds

EN 16516 sets specifications for the determination of emissions into indoor air from construction products. Reliable, accurate and SI-traceable measurement results of the emissions are the key to consumer protection. Such measurement results can be obtained by using metrologically traceable reference materials. Gas-phase standards of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air can be prepared by a variety of dynamic methods according to the ISO 6145 series. However, these methods are not always applicable for semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) due to their high boiling point and low vapour pressure. Therefore, a novel dynamic gas mixture generation system has been developed. With this system gas-phase standards with trace level VOCs and SVOCs in air can be prepared between 10 nmol mol-1 and 1000 nmol mol-1. The VOCs and SVOCs in this study have normal boiling points ranging from 146 °C to 343 °C. Metrologically traceable reference materials of the gas-phase standard were obtained by sampling of the VOC gas-phase standard into Tenax TA® sorbent material in SilcoNert® coated stainless steel tubes. Accurately known masses between 10 ng and 1000 ng per VOC were sampled. These reference materials were used to validate the dynamic system. Furthermore, the storage and stability periods of the VOCs in the reference materials were determined as these are crucial characteristics to obtain accurate and SI-traceable reference materials. In a Round Robin Test (RRT), the reference materials were used with the aim of demonstrating the feasibility of providing SI-traceable standard reference values for SVOCs for interlaboratory comparison purposes. Based on the results from the validation, the storage and stability studies and the RRT, gas-phase standards and reference materials of VOCs and SVOCs with relative expanded uncertainties between 5 % and 12 % (k = 2) have been developed. These reference standards can be used as calibrants, reference materials or quality control materials for the analysis of VOC emissions.

In this repository data from the validation, the storage and stability studies and the RRT are published which is used for the manuscript "Metrological generation of SI-traceable gas-phase standards and reference materials for (semi-) volatile organic compounds" published in Measurement Science and Technology.

The following files can be found in this repository:

- The following files contain data from the validation.Variation1_day1, Variation1_day2, Variation1_day3, Variation2_day1, Variation2_day2, Variation2_day3, Variation3_day1, Variation3_day2, Variation3_day3, Variation4_day1 and Variation4_day2. During the validation 4 different variations have been used and these have been tested on 3 or 2 days. The data contain information about the settings to obtain the gas-phase standard, reference materials and spiked tubes and the analysis data.

- The "ANOVA validation data" file contains the ANOVA calculations used to obtain the repeatability standard deviation and reproducibility standard deviation.

- The figure "Chromatogram VOCs used for the validation" is a copy of a chromatogram

- The file "Storage and stability studies data" contains formation about the settings to obtain the gas-phase standard, reference materials and spiked tubes and the analysis data.

- The figure "Chromatogram VOCs used for the storage and stability studies" is a copy of a chromatogram.

- The file "RRT data" contains information about the settings to obtain the gas-phase standard, reference materials and spiked tubes and the analysis data.

- The file "Report Homogeneity RRT" is a report on the homogeneity study performed during the RRT.

- The figure "Chromatogram VOCs used for the RRT" is a copy of a chromatogram.

- The file "VSL-Tubes-results-RR18-a". The dataset contains the results of a round robin test which tested the proficiency to analyse volatile organic compounds (VOC) of laboratories dealing with the determination of emissions from building materials. For this analysis check the participants were asked to send own sampling tubes filled with the adsorbent Tenax TA®, which were loaded with a reference gas mixture containing the compounds: styrene [100-42-5], n-decane [124-18-5], R(+)limonene [5989-27-5], 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene [95-63-6], decamethylcyclopentasiloxane [541-02-6], dimethylphthalate [131-11-3], dibutylphthalate [84-74-2], naphthalene [91-20-3], n-hexadecane [544-76-3] and eicosane [112-95 8]. These tubes were sent back to the participants for immediate analysis. The list of compounds was disclosed in advance. For all statistical evaluations, the mean values of the laboratories were used instead of all single measurement values. Expert laboratories: Laboratories who had successfully participated in the three former round robin tests (2014; 2016; 2018) organized by BAM were defined as expert laboratories. Their reported data were used to calculate the reference mean (ref. mean) and the reference standard deviation (ref st. dev.). Reference mean: The reference mean is determined as the robust mean value using the Hampel estimator (see Section C.5.3 in ISO 13528) on the basis of the results of the expert laboratories. It is a weighted arithmetic mean, with lower weights for outlying values. Standard deviation for proficiency assessment: The reference standard deviation for proficiency assessment is determined as the robust reproducibility standard deviation according to the Q method (see Section C.5.2 in ISO 13528) based on the results of the expert laboratories.

ABoVE: Study Domain and Standard Reference Grids, Version 2

The Arctic - Boreal Vulnerability Experiment (ABoVE) has developed two standardized spatial data products to expedite coordination of research activities and to facilitate data interoperability. The ABoVE Study Domain encompasses the Arctic and boreal regions of Alaska, USA, and the western provinces of Canada, North America. Core and Extended study regions have been designated within this Domain and are provided in a vector representation (Shapefile), a raster representation (GeoTIFF at 1,000-meter spatial resolution), and a NetCDF file. A standard Reference Grid System has been developed to cover the entire Study Domain and extends to the eastern portion of North America. This Reference Grid is provided as nested polygon grids at scales of 240, 30, and 5-meter spatial resolution. The 5-meter grid is new in Version 2. Note that the designated standard projection for all ABoVE products is the Canadian Albers Equal Area projection.

Dataset related to article "A reference framework for standardization and harmonization of CT Radiomics features: the "CadAIver" analysis"

Abstract

Background

In recent years, Radiomics features (RFs) have been developed to provide quantitative, standardized information about shape, density/intensity and texture patterns on radiological images. Several studies showed limitations in the reproducibility of RFs in different acquisition settings. To date, reproducibility studies using CT images mainly rely on phantoms, due to the harness of patient exposure to X-rays. In this study we analyze the effects of CT acquisition parameters on RFs of lumbar vertebrae in a cadaveric donor.

Methods

112 unique CT acquisitions from cadaveric truck were performed on 3 different CT scanners varying KV, mA, field of view and reconstruction kernel settings. Lumbar vertebrae were segmented through a deep learning convolutional neural network and RFs were computed. The effects of each protocol on each RFs were assessed by univariate and multivariate Generalized Linear Model. Further, we compared the GLM model to the ComBat algorithm in the efficiency in harmonizing CT images.

Findings

From GLM, mA variation was not associated with alteration of RFs , whereas kV modification was associated with exponential variation of several RFs, including First Order (94.4%), GLCM (87.5%) and NGTDM (100%).

Upon cross-validation, ComBat algorithm obtained a mean R2 higher than 0.90 in 1 RFs (0.90%), whereas GLM model obtained high R2 in 21 RFs (19.6%), showing that the proposed GLM could effectively harmonize acquisitions better than ComBat.

Interpretation

This study represents the first attempt in describing the effects of CT acquisition parameters in bone RFs in a cadaveric donor. Our analyses showed that RFs could be substantially different according to the variation of each acquisition parameter and in dataset obtained from different CT scanners. These differences can be minimized using the proposed GLM model. Publicly available dataset and GLM could foster the research of Radiomics-based studies by increasing harmonization across CT protocols and vendors.
