Digital Twins: A Systematic Literature Review Based on Data Analysis and Topic Modeling

<p>The digital twin has recently become a popular topic in research related to manufacturing, such as Industry 4.0, the industrial internet of things, and cyber-physical systems. In addition, digital twins are the focus of several research areas: construction, urban management, digital transformation of the economy, medicine, virtual reality, software testing, and others. The concept is not yet fully defined, its scope seems unlimited, and the topic is relatively new; all this can present a barrier to research. The main goal of this paper is to develop a proper methodology for visualizing the digital-twin science landscape using modern bibliometric tools, text-mining and topic-modelling, based on machine learning models&mdash;Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and BERTopic (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers). The scope of the study includes 8693 publications on the topic selected from the Scopus database, published between January 1993 and September 2022. Keyword co-occurrence analysis and topic-modelling indicate that studies on digital twins are still in the early stage of development. At the same time, the core of the topic is growing, and some topic clusters are emerging. More than 100 topics can be identified; the most popular and fastest-growing topic is &lsquo;digital twins of industrial robots, production lines and objects.&rsquo; Further efforts are needed to verify the proposed methodology, which can be achieved by analyzing other research fields.</p>

Non-systematic literature review of challenges that hinder the implementation of specific targets of the BDS 2030

<p>In the BioAgora project, Deliverable 1.1 focused on assessing and categorizing the challenges that can hinder the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. A mixed-method research strategy was used to collect evidence on existing challenges, including a general and a targeted (non-systematic) literature review. This database summarizes the results of this non-systematic literature review as well as expert opinion shared on the initial results by project consortium members.</p> <p>The general literature search was carried out between the 1st September and the 10th October 2022, and contained the fixed keywords EU, European, biodiversity, conservation, strategy, implementation, evaluation as well as the interchangeable terms barrier, challenge, and issue. This search returned approximately 16,800 results of which the abstracts of the first 70 hits were screened for relevant guidance to establish the broad challenge categories. After the broad challenge categories were established, we launched a targeted literature search from the 10th October until the 5th November 2022. Here, a series of searches with the fixed terms EU, biodiversity, implementation, [target-specific input, e.g. invasive species, soil ecosystems, freshwater ecosystems] and the interchangeable terms challenge, barrier, and issue was conducted. Per search, the abstracts of the initial 15 results were screened and detailed information from the publications with relevance to the research question were extracted. Both searches included only publications from 2010 onwards and if possible, more recent publications were prioritised over older ones.</p>

<p>Supplementary Materials for Drone Technologies: a tertiary systematic literature review on a decade of improvements.</p> <p>Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as versatile tools with significant potential in various fields,<br> including, but not limited to civil engineering, ecology, networking and precision agriculture. Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) play a crucial role in assessing the quality of research methods and approaches, aiding researchers and practitioners in selecting and optimizing their projects.</p> <p>However, the quality assessment of UAV-related SLRs and the aggregation of UAV technologies across research fields remain limited. This study aims to address these gaps by conducting a tertiary literature review (TLR) that assesses the quality of SLRs,<br> aggregates data across research fields, and provides guidelines for researchers and practitioners in the UAV community.</p> <p>This dataset covers the complete data-extraction and future research templates to enhance the quality and knowledge sharing in the UAV research community by providing insights into the current state of UAV-related SLRs.</p>

[SZESLR] Semi-automated Systematic Literature Review (SLR) Design and P-graph (Process Graph Theory) SLR Database

<p>(c) Sz&eacute;chenyi Istv&aacute;n University and Artificial Intelligence National Laboratory (MILAB)</p> <p>A proposed semi-automated Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design has been deployed to conduct an exhaustive literature review on contributions concerning applications of the P-graph framework as a case study. The P-graph framework (<a href="https://p-graph.org/">https://p-graph.org</a>) was initially conceived for solving problems related to the synthesis of chemical processes; in particular, the framework has been useful for developing sustainable and resilient systems.</p> <p>The current contribution includes the P-graph SLR database itself, and additionally, the Python scripts used to generate such results.&nbsp;The case study has been selected in view of the authors&rsquo; familiarity with the P-graph framework, and because they maintain a manually-collected database of works on the subject. The contributions concerning the framework are easily distinguishable from others involving similar methodologies. It was observed that the implementation of the proposed SLR design extended prior review papers on the P-graph framework and provided additional information on authors and institutions devoted to research on this subject.</p> <p>Generally, it is expected that the dataset will assist researchers, scholars, and practitioners concerned with industrial sustainability in streamlining their literature reviews, thus accelerating the acquisition of pertinent publications that could advance and enrich their own research works on such a subject. Moreover, it is expected that, with proper adaptation, the proposed semi-automated SLR design can be applied to conduct literature reviews in other scientific fields whose results can be validated against existing reviews when available.</p> <p>The normalized P-graph database hereby presented thus&nbsp;can be used as a source of validated information for researchers. The P-graph database was uploaded in various file formats that support database management software (e.g. Zotero .RIS) as well as an &quot;EasyHandle&quot; MS Office (.XLSX) file.</p>

Professional Technology Enhanced Learning: Systematic Literature Review Dataset

<p>Professional Technology-Enhanced Learning is concerned with technology-enhanced learning for professionals, i.e. people in employed jobs. Other terms used instead of professional learning are sometimes workplace learning or work-related learning; and there is a large overlap with research that focusses on informal, situated, or lifelong learning.&nbsp;<br> In this spreadsheet, we publish data collected for a systematic mapping study. The goal of the study was to map existing literature on professional technology-enhanced learning. &nbsp;The data collection followed Kitchenham and Charter&#39;s (2007) method for systematic literature reviews. &nbsp;This spreadsheet shows 58 papers, for which we excerpted authors (one, two or three author surnames fully shown, for more authors, only the first author name is shown with the extension &quot;et al.&quot;), title, DOI or permanent link, the citation as given by the source, and the abstract.</p> <p>We hope that others find this data useful, and if they do so reference this data collection, referring to it as follows: Cicchinelli and Pammer-Schindler (2023). &nbsp;Professional Technology Enhanced Learning: A Systematically Collected Dataset of Academic Publications in the Field. Smart home adoption factors: A systematic literature review and research agenda

<p>Smart homes represent the complement of various automation technologies that together make up a network of devices facilitating the daily tasks of residents. These technologies are being studied for their application from different sectors, including the projection of their use to improve energy consumption planning and health care management. However, technology adoption depends on social awareness within the scope of cognitive advantages and innovations compared to perceived risk because although there are multiple benefits, potential users express fears related to the loss of autonomy and security. This study carries out a systematic literature review based on PRISMA in order to analyze research trends and literary evolution in the technological adoption of smart homes, considering the main theories and variables applied by the community. In proposing a research agenda in accordance with the identified gaps and the growing and emerging themes of the object of study, it is worth highlighting the growing interest in the subject, both for the present and its development in the future. Until now, adoption factors have been attributed more to the technological acceptance model and the diffusion of innovation theory, adopting components of the Theory of Planned Behavior; therefore, in several cases, the attributes of different theories are merged to adapt to the needs of each researcher, promoting the creation of empirical and extended models.</p>

Biological invasions: a field synopsis, systematic review, and database of the literature

Species introductions of anthropogenic origins are a major aspect of rapid ecological change globally. Research on biological invasions has generated literature on many different aspects of this phenomenon. This literature is enormous and has grown rapidly since the mid‐twentieth century. Therefore, we created this dataset in order to describe and categorize some aspects of this literature, to better understand what has been studied and what we know, mapping well‐studied areas and important gaps. To do so, we employed the techniques of systematic reviewing widely adopted in other scientific disciplines. We identified 2398 relevant studies in a field synopsis of the biological invasions literature. The purpose of the field synopsis was to map and categorize the scope of available information (and what is not known) from the literature addressing a fundamental understanding of biological invasions. We then examined 1537 papers in greater detail in a systematic review. The systematic review addressed the state of our knowledge about the mechanisms that permit species to invade novel environments. We carried this out by attempting to identify and characterize the literature, including what hypotheses have been tested, and what organisms and systems have been studied. A secondary goal of our work was to create a publicly accessible database of this literature for future research.

Systematic review of near-term ecological forecasting literature published between 1932 and 2020

This data publication includes results and code from a systematic review of near-term ecological forecasting literature. The study had two primary goals: (1) analyze the state of near-term ecological forecasting literature, and (2) compare forecast skill across ecosystems and variables. We began by conducting a Web of Science search for “forecast*” in the title, abstract, and keywords of all papers published in ecological journals, then screened all papers from this search to identify near-term ecological forecasts. We defined a near-term ecological forecast as future predictions of community, population, or biogeochemical variables ≤ 10 years from the forecast date. To more broadly survey the literature, we then searched all papers that cited or were cited by the near-term ecological forecasts we identified. We performed an in-depth review of all near-term ecological forecasting papers identified through this search process, and recorded forecast skill data for all papers that reported R or R2. Our results indicate that the rate of publication of near-term ecological forecasts is increasing over time and the field is becoming increasingly open and automated. Across published forecasts, we find that forecast skill decreases in predictable patterns and these patterns differ between forecast variables. This data publication includes three products from this analysis: (1) a database of all papers identified in the two searches, including our assessment of whether they included an ecological focal variable, included a forecast, and whether the forecast was near-term (≤10 years), (2) a matrix of all data collected on the near-term ecological forecasts we identified, and (3) a database of R2 values for papers that reported R or R2.

Data from: Biocultural approaches to sustainability: a systematic review of the scientific literature

Current sustainability challenges demand approaches that acknowledge a plurality of human-nature interactions and worldviews, for which biocultural approaches are considered appropriate and timely. This systematic review analyses the application of biocultural approaches to sustainability in scientific journal articles published between 1990 and 2018 through a mixed methods approach combining qualitative content analysis and quantitative multivariate methods. The study identifies seven distinct biocultural lenses, i.e. different ways of understanding and applying biocultural approaches, which to different degrees consider the key aspects of sustainability science - inter and transdisciplinarity, social justice and normativity. The review suggests that biocultural approaches in sustainability science need to move from describing how nature and culture are co-produced to co-producing knowledge for sustainability solutions, and in so doing, better account for questions of power, gender and transformations, which has been largely neglected thus far.

Agile Global Software Development: A Systematic Literature Review

<p>Global Software Development (GSD) continues to grow substantially and it is fast becoming the norm and fundamentally different from local Software Engineering development. Withal, agile software development (ASD) has become an appealing choice for companies attempting to improve their performance although its methods were originally designed for small and individual teams. The current literature does not provide a cohesive picture of how the agile practices are taken into account in the distributed nature of software development: how to do it, who, and what works in practice. This study aims to highlight how ASD practices are applied in the context of GSD in order to develop a set of techniques that can be relevant in both research and practice. To answer the research question, &quot;how are agile practices adopted in agile global software development teams?&#39;&quot;&nbsp;We conducted a systematic literature review of the ASD and GSD literature. A synthesis of solutions found in seventy-six studies provided 48 distinct practices that organizations can implement, including &quot;collaboration among teams&quot;, &quot;agile architecture&#39;&quot;, &quot;coaching&quot;, &quot;system demo&quot;&nbsp;and &quot;test automation&quot;. These implementable practices go some way towards providing solutions to manage GSD teams, and thus to embrace agility.</p>
