<p>A Área de avaliação “Planejamento Urbano e Regional e Demografia” (PLURD) é composta por duas subáreas: de Planejamento Urbano e Regional e de Demografia. A Área originou-se da criação, no início da década de 1970, dos primeiros cursos de mestrado em Recife, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre e Belo Horizonte com a finalidade de formar quadros tanto para a formulação e implementação de políticas públicas nos diversos níveis de gestão, quanto para a implantação desses campos do conhecimento nas universidades brasileiras.</p>
