Both of these have a mental scale semi-divided by a suture (indicated by dashed arrows). L. tolampyae has three postmentals (PM1–PM3) while L. pictus has two (PM1–PM2). Both species have five postpostmentals (marked by small black squares). Furthermore, in L. tolampyae, the first infralabial is in broad contact with the posterior projection of the mental, while this contact in L. pictus is very faint to absent (indicated by continuous arrows).
