Differentially stressed DLPC bilayer
<p>DLPC (C12:0 PC) bilayer with 80 lipids in one leaflet and 70 lipids in the opposite leaflet. The bilayer was simulated in all-atom representation with NAMD and the CHARMM36 lipid force field. The uploaded trajectory is the last 400 ns (from a 650 ns total simulation) at 27 C (300.15 K). Uploaded are: the trajectory with output frequency of 40 ps centered on the bilayer midplane, structure files (.psf and .pdb) and sample NAMD parameter file.</p>
Interactions between phenanthrene exposure and historical chemical stress: Implications for fitness and ecological resilience of the sentinel species Daphnia magna
<div> <p>Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) arise from incomplete combustion of oil, coal, and gasoline, with lipophilic properties facilitating their widespread distribution and persistence. Due to their biochemical attributes, PAHs can accumulate in animal tissues, potentially causing mutagenic and carcinogenic effects. Since the industrial revolution, PAH concentrations in the environment have risen, with some areas showing levels from 0.159 to 33,090 µg/kg sediment. Despite acute toxicity studies showing adverse effects on freshwater organisms, the long-term impacts and synergistic interactions with other pollutants remain largely unexplored. </p> </div> <div> <p>This study investigates the impact of phenanthrene (PHE), a prominent PAH found in aquatic environments, on <em>Daphnia magna</em>, a species of significant ecological importance in freshwater ecosystems globally, being both a sentinel species for chemical pollution and a keystone organism in freshwater aquatic ecosystems. Leveraging the dormancy of <em>D. magna</em>, which spans decades or even centuries, we exposed strains with diverse histories of chemical contaminant exposure to environmentally relevant concentrations of PHE. Initially, acute exposure experiments were conducted in accordance with OECD guidelines across 16 <em>Daphnia</em> strains, revealing substantial variation in acute toxic responses, with strains naïve to chemical pollutants showing the lowest toxicity. Utilizing the median effect concentration EC10 derived from acute exposures, we assessed the impacts of chronic PHE exposure on the life history traits and ecological endpoints of the 16 strains. To elucidate how historical exposure to other environmental stressors may modulate the toxicity of PHE, temporal populations of <em>D. magna</em> resurrected from a lake with a well-documented century-spanning history of environmental impact were utilized. Our findings demonstrate that PHE exposure induces developmental failure, delays sexual maturation, and reduces adult size in <em>Daphnia</em>. Populations of <em>Daphnia</em> historically exposed to chemical stress exhibited significantly greater fitness impacts compared to naïve populations. This study provides crucial insights into the augmented effects of PAHs interacting with other environmental stressors. </p> </div>
Additional raw video and pose estimation data of top view mouse behavior recordings (marble burying test, light-dark box, fear conditioning box) of acute and chronic stress models
<p>This repository contains raw data for 296 different behavioral recordings of mice (marble burying test, light-dark box, fear conditioning box). These include top view raw video .mp4 files (Videos.zip) and the corresponding .csv pose estimation data (data.zip) obtained with DeepLabCut. The data is from multiple different experiments. The METADATA.csv or METADATA.xlsx files contain all grouping variables and help linking the pose estimation files (located in multiple subfolders of /data) to the video files. Elasto-plastic residual stress analysis of selective laser sintered porous materials based on 3D-multilayer thermo-structural phase-field simulations
<p>The supporting data and utilities from the publication "Elasto-plastic residual stress analysis of selective laser sintered porous materials based on 3D-multilayer thermo-structural phase-field simulations" are recorded in this dataset. </p> <p>Non-isothermal phase-field simulations of SLS process on SS316L material and subsequent elasto-plastic calculations were performed to analyze the development of plastic deformation and residual stress in SLS produced components during the processing. The dependence of the fusion zone, residual stress and plastic strain on the processing parameters namely, Beam power (Unit: Watts) and Scan speed (Unit: mm/s) were investigated. </p> <p>To promote FAIR research data principles, the processed simulation data from the thermo-elasto-plastic calculations for all the process parameter sets (hereby refered as P-v sets) are curated in this dataset. The raw temporal data obtained from the processing simulations and the elasto-plastic could not be included in this dataset due to its high volume. However, the corresponding raw data can be requested by contacting the creators of this dataset (Yangyiwei Yang: <a href="mailto:yangyiwei.yang@mfm.tu-darmstadt.de">yangyiwei.yang@mfm.tu-darmstadt.de</a> and Somnath Bharech: <a href="mailto:somnath.bharech@tu-darmstadt.de">somnath.bharech@tu-darmstadt.de</a>).</p> <p>This dataset includes: </p> <ul> <li><code>average_value.csv</code>: Contains average values of mechanical properties (such as residual stress, plastic strain) for the powder bed and the fused strut of all the process parameter sets.</li> <li><code>mesostructures_tep_sls.zip</code> : Contains resampled mesostructures obtained at the last time step of the SLS processing simulations with thermo-elasto-plastic calculations for the P-v sets reported in the aforementioned investigation. Nomenclature of the sub-directories indicating the P-v sets follows: <code>tep_<beam power>-<scan speed></code>. Each of these sub-directories contain the mesostructures from last time step of the thermo-elasto-plastic analysis of each of the four layer scans and is named as: <code>TP_layer{1..4}_output_final.e</code>. Synergistic effect of salicylic acid and biochar on biochemical properties, yield and nutrient uptake of triticale under water stress
<p><span>The reduction of soil fertility and water sources in arid regions treats crop production. One of the practical solutions to overcome these problems is application of salicylic acid (SA) with biochar.</span><span> A pot experiment was conducted to consider the combination</span><span> of </span><span>SA with biochar</span><span> on biochemical and physiological parameters of triticale</span><span>.</span><span> Treatments consisted of irrigation regime (normal irrigation and irrigation according to 50% field capacity), salicylic acid application [without SA (SA0) and 3mM SA (SA3)] and fertilizer type including without fertilizer (control), application of 50 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> phosphorus (P), and application of wheat biochar (WB), cotton biochar (CB) and sesame biochar (SB) (2% w/w).</span><span> Under water stress, CB at SA0 and SA3 could improve the total chlorophyll by 119.4 and 70.6%, compare to control respectively.<span> Also, carotenoid content in SA3 treatments increased in the range of 75.8 to 34.6% compared to SA0</span>. </span><span>CB at SA3, created the highest catalase activity (11.4% increase) compared to SB.</span><span> At SA3, the highest RWC was observed in WB and CB by 26.7 and 18.1% increases compared to SA0, respectively. </span><span>At SA3, CB could enhance grain yield by 24.8% under water stress. </span><span>Under water stress, at SA3, remobilization efficiency from 63.2% in control was enhanced to 69.2, 74.3 and 68.1% in WB, CB and SB, respectively. CB and WB had better chemical properties in terms of EC, N, P, K and micronutrients compared to SB. These properties of BC and WB enhanced their ability to increase the nutrient availability, biochemical properties and consequently the grain yield enhancement, especially when applied with SA3.</span></p>

Inverted full deviatoric stress tensors in Zhang et al. 2024
<p>The inverted full deviatoric stress tensors from both 12-block inversion and pixel inversion are uploaded here. The coordinate of the tensors is N-E-down. The result from 12-block inversion assumes a uniform stress before the 2019 Ridgecrest doublet and uses the slip model from Xu et al. (2020). The result from pixel inversion uses Xu et al. (2020)'s slip model as well. Locations of the pixels are uploaded together.</p>
Data from: Trait variation and performance across varying levels of drought stress in cultivated sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)
<p><strong>Background and Aims:</strong> Drought is a major agricultural challenge that is expected to worsen with climate change. A better understanding of drought responses has the potential to inform efforts to breed more tolerant plants. We assessed leaf trait variation and covariation in cultivated sunflower (<em>Helianthus annuus L</em>.) in response to water limitation.</p> <p><strong>Methods: </strong>Plants were grown under four levels of water availability and assessed for environmentally induced plasticity in leaf stomatal and vein traits as well as biomass (performance indicator), mass fractions, leaf area, leaf mass per area, and chlorophyll content.</p> <p><strong>Key Results:</strong> Overall, biomass declined in response to stress; these changes were accompanied by responses in leaf-level traits including decreased leaf area and stomatal size, and increased stomatal and vein density. The magnitude of trait responses increased with stress severity and relative plasticity of smaller-scale leaf anatomical traits was less than that of larger-scale traits related to construction and growth. Across treatments, where phenotypic plasticity was observed, stomatal density was negatively correlated with stomatal size and positively correlated with minor vein density, but the correlations did not hold up within treatments. Four leaf traits previously shown to reflect major axes of variation in a large sunflower diversity panel under well-watered conditions (i.e., stomatal density, stomatal pore length, vein density, and leaf mass per area) predicted a surprisingly large amount of the variation in biomass across treatments, but trait associations with biomass differed within treatments. Additionally, the importance of these traits in predicting variation in biomass is mediated, at least in part, through leaf size.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> Our results demonstrate the importance of leaf anatomical traits in mediating drought responses in sunflower, and highlight the role that phenotypic plasticity and multi-trait phenotypes can play in predicting productivity under complex abiotic stresses like drought.</p>
Data set for manuscript titled "Morphological, physiological and metabolic responses of diverse barley inbreds to dry down and moderate drought stress"
<p>The primary aim of the study was to understand the genotypic diversity on plant morphology, photosynthetic responses, metabolite shift and their relationship in diverse barley inbreds under dry down (DD) and moderate drought (MD) stress using 23 genetically diverse parental inbreds. The data were collected from over a period of 28 days after the start of stress treatment. The publised data set indcludes the emmeans of all the evaluated characters. Metabolite profiling was done in samples collected from 7 d and 12 d after the start of DD and MD stress.</p>

Data for irrigation impacts on urban heat stress in North America
<p>Includes all model simulation results, summaries by urban clusters, and evaluation results of the study. <br><br>The netcdf files are for various model variables and simulations (noURB for no urban simulation, IRR for irrigation simulation, and CTRL for the urban with no irrigation simulation, which is treated as the baseline), the csv files are the summaries for various cases (by urban cluster, and by world and climate zone for model evaluations), and the geotiff files are the raster images for key variables shown in the manuscript.<br><br>The python notebook has all the scripts to estimate the heat stress metrics from the netcdf files.</p>

Data for: Pesticide Risks in Small Streams -- How to Get as Close as Possible to the Stress Imposed on Aquatic Organisms
<p>The dataset contains concentrations profiles of 213 agricultural pesticides in surface water samples. Half-day composite samples were taken from five small streams in Switzerland from the beginning of March to the end of August 2015. Half-day samples from discharge events were measured individually, whereas half-day samples taken during dry weather periods between discharge events were pooled to samples of variable lengths (five days on average) and then measured resulting in 34 to 60 measured samples per site.</p>
