Fig. 3 in Vitamin E in legume nodules: Occurrence and antioxidant function

Fig. 3. Differential effects of water deficit stress on α-tocopherol content of leaves, roots and nodules of soybean, alfalfa and pea plants. α-Tocopherol content in leaves, roots and nodules of soybean, alfalfa and pea plants (from top to bottom). Data correspond to the mean ± SE of n = 5 individuals. Results of statistics are shown (two-way ANOVA, P <0.05). An asterisk indicates significant differences between water-stressed and irrigated plants. Letters indicate significant differences over time in water-stressed plants (Tukey posthoc test P <0.05). NS, not significant. DAW, days after water withdrawal in water-stressed plants.

Fig. 1 in Vitamin E in legume nodules: Occurrence and antioxidant function

Fig. 1. Identification and quantification of tocochromanols in legume nodules. (A) HPLC chromatograms (left) and LC-MS/MS identification (right) of α-tocopherol in nodules of soybean, alfalfa and pea plants. Precursor and product ion m/z used for LC-MS/MS identification was 430/163.1) α-tocopherol, 2) β-tocopherol, 3) unknown, 4) unknown. (B) Quantification of tocochromanols in leaves, roots and nodules of three studied legumes (soybean, alfalfa and pea plants). Data represent the mean ± SE of n = 10. Although peaks 3 and 4 found in pea nodules co-eluted with α- and γ-tocotrienol, respectively, in the HPLC chromatogram, they could not be confirmed by LC-MS/MS. BHT, butylated hydroxytoluene.

Fertiliser recommendations for grain legumes in Western region with limited production area 2024-2027.

<p>As adapted pulse crop species become available for growers in regions of Western Australia, associated fertiliser recommendations for the major elements (Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) and Sulphur (S)) are required to maximise profitability. Following a review of WA RCSN/NGN meeting minutes and a grower survey (KAL2104-001SAX), it is clear growers are unsure of fertiliser management for &lsquo;new to them&rsquo; pulse species, a sentiment amplified by high fertiliser prices. Future mounting evidence of positive benefits from crop diversity and legumes in a cereal-based system means growers are eager to successfully integrate adapted pulse species into their farming system. Phosphorus, Potassium and Sulphur will be the focus of this research as required the most by pulse of all the elements.</p>
