CoCar NextGen: a Multi-Purpose Platform for Connected Autonomous Driving Research
<p>Sample sensor data and vehicle information of our autonomous research vehicle CoCar NextGen.</p> <p>This repository contains a short sequence of sample data from all sensors (except radar) of our research platform. The data is collected in a ROSBag. Additionally, sensor postions are provided in a URDF file. Finally, basic vehicle parameters are given in a YAML file.</p>

Research Data Management Framework - POC-Study: Guideline and protocol
<p>Dataset for the following paper:<br><br>Proof-Of-Concept-Studie für das FDM in den Ingenieur:innenwissenschaften</p> <p><strong>Ein Forschungsdatenmanagement-Rahmenwerk</strong><br>T. Hamann, C. Florides, A. Abdelrazeq, R. H. Schmitt</p> <p>Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM) gewinnt seit Jahren an Bedeutung. Das Ziel, Daten wiederverwendbar aufzubereiten und nachzunutzen anstatt sie aufwändig neu zu erheben, wird von Forschenden der deutschen Ingenieur:innenwissenschaften jedoch nur selten verfolgt. Um dem entgegenzuwirken, wurde ein Rahmenwerk für das FDM in den Ingenieur:innenwissenschaften entwickelt. In einer Proof-Of-Concept-Studie soll dieses nun erstmals anhand des Forschungsprojekts KIOptiPack validiert werden.</p> <p><strong>A Research Data Management Framework</strong></p> <p>Research data management (RDM) has been gaining in importance for years. However, the goal of preparing data sustainably and reusing existing data instead of laboriously collecting it from scratch is rarely pursued by researchers in the German engineering sciences. To counteract this, a framework for RDM in the engineering sciences was developed. Data supporting research on journalistic production on science by press offices of universities and university centers in Rio Grande do Sul (2016)
<p>These data are part of a final paper called Scientific Journalism in Community Higher Education Institutions in Rio Grande do Sul. The work was developed at the University of Vale do Taquari - Univates, between 2016 and 2017. The data is in Portuguese. The abstract of the paper is available below. Science occupies an important place in today's society. It is what has allowed us to reach our current stages of intellectual development and also to achieve memorable feats as a species. Science is produced, to a large extent, in the academic environment. This monograph focuses its efforts on trying to understand how 15 universities and university centers in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, partners in the Consortium of Community Universities of Rio Grande do Sul (Comung), carry out the dissemination of their academic production. It is understood that it is important to disseminate scientific information to the population so that individuals can critically evaluate the actions developed in the field of science. The general objective of this study is to investigate the production of scientific news in higher education institutions linked to Comung, as well as to characterize the relationships between the actors and processes related to the journalistic dissemination of science produced in these same institutions. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the scientific dissemination texts was directed to the news published by the organizations, through an exploratory study that mapped all the production of the press offices between January and August 2016. Subsequently, a qualitative analysis of the discourse of press officers was carried out, after applying a questionnaire. Throughout the investigation, the hypothesis that the institutions disseminate their scientific production was confirmed, but they do so in markedly different ways. DATA SUPPORTING RESEARCH ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF PALEONTOLOGY IN BRAZIL (NETWORK VISUALIZATIONS)
<p>The documents made available present the data set that was processed in Lucas George Wendt's dissertation, presented in 2024 in the Postgraduate Program in Information Science (PPGCIN) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The study is entitled: Brazilian Paleontology: a scientometric analysis based on the Lattes Curriculum. The abstract is as follows. This research sought to carry out a scientometric analysis of Paleontology in Brazil based on data collected in the Lattes Curriculum. The general objective of this dissertation is to analyze the scientific field of Paleontology diachronically and through a scientometric study - which will be explained based on the personal information of the researchers collected in their profiles and the scientific literature produced and registered in the Lattes Curriculum of the Lattes Platform. The literature review presented the concepts of Information Science, the area that, in this study, seeks to understand Paleontology through its research instruments; Scientific Communication, the main subject analyzed in this study; Metric Information Studies, the theoretical-methodological framework used in this research; Scientometrics, the theoretical scope used to understand in greater depth the constitution of the field of national Paleontology. Finally, references were also presented that help in the understanding of Paleontology in its national, South American, North American and European contexts. The research used a mixed approach of qualitative and quantitative elements. The data were generated from the CVs of researchers registered on the Lattes Platform, collected using the Brapci Bibliometric Tools tool and analyzed in specific software for metric analysis. To achieve the research objectives, data from 1,465 researcher profiles were analyzed. Regarding the full articles published in journals, 43,333 articles were considered valid. Regarding the keywords of the articles, 91,922 keywords were analyzed for word clouds and 84,771 for relationship networks. Of the academic orientations, 1,182 profiles generated 51,400 valid orientations. The aspect of the current employment relationship had 1,256 profiles considered. Regarding academic backgrounds, 1,465 profiles generated 4,556 academic backgrounds analyzed. The main contribution of this study is the realization of an unprecedented mapping of the panorama of Paleontology in Brazil, since there are no other studies that establish the same relationships that this research sought to establish. Regarding the results, based on the data collected and analyzed, the general metric indicators linked to the scientific production associated with Brazilian Paleontology were presented based on the information collected in the Lattes Curriculum; the directions of research in Paleontology that currently constitute this field in Brazil were mapped, as well as their thematic associations with other fields of knowledge; the training of PhD researchers who work with Paleontology or who have their production associated with Paleontology in terms of their academic training was characterized; and where the scientific knowledge in Paleontology or associated with Paleontology is produced was identified. The results of this study are relevant to understanding Brazilian Paleontology, highlighting its national orientation in fossil studies, doctoral training in local institutions and predominant activity in national organizations. These elements are important to consolidate Brazilian paleontological science globally. Regarding interdisciplinary relations, a clear proximity between Paleontology and Geosciences is observed, influenced by the history and current dynamics of the field. <p>A TXT consisting in the keywords used for the 62 searches carried out in the Web of Science (WoS) database in order to look for academic publications related to Computational Sociolinguistics.</p> <p> </p> <p>A CSV and a XLSX with the same information: the corpus of unique publications (i.e., 3,454) obtained from the searches conducted in WoS using the queries from the TXT file. They include two additional columns at the end: 'Article Title_clean' and 'Abstract_clean'. Awareness of FAIR and FAIR4RS among international research software funders (Dataset)
<p><span>This research employed a mixed methods online survey to investigate research software funders’ perspectives. </span></p> <p><span>All participants gave informed consent at the start of the online survey. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Institutional Review Board (no. 24374) reviewed the study and determined it exempt.</span></p> <p><span>Data collection took place from December 2023 to May 2024. The mean completion time for the detailed survey was 28 minutes and 13 seconds. The data were cleaned and prepared for analysis by removing any identifiable respondent details. </span></p> <h2><span>Survey design</span></h2> <p><span>The survey began by collecting profile information, including institutional affiliation and job title. The survey primarily gathered detailed information about initiatives, policies, or programs to support research software but also included a much smaller set of questions about additional topics, such as strategic funding priorities and awareness of key concepts. The data generated from this survey are too extensive to report in a single manuscript. An initial contact list was created based on participation in the Research Software Association (ReSA) and known responsibilities for research software funding among the authors' networks. This list was refined by removing individuals who had moved to unrelated professional roles or were unavailable long-term due to personal issues.</span></p> <p><span>The final contact list comprised 71 people at 37 funding organizations. After excluding individuals when a member of their organization had already provided a complete response or when the person was no longer working on a relevant topic or was otherwise unavailable (total of n=30), 41 people remained. Of these, five did not complete the survey, while 36 individuals (representing 30 research funding organizations) did, yielding a response rate of 87.8% (and representing 81% of the original organizations). Fully completed survey responses were not required for inclusion in the sample, resulting in varied sample sizes across different survey questions.</span></p> <p><span>The respondents represented governmental (n=26), philanthropic (n=6), and corporate (n=1) research funders.</span></p> <p><span>Respondents’ job titles spanned the following categories: Senior Leadership and Executive (e.g., Vice President of Strategy); Program and Project Management (e.g., Senior Program Manager); Planning and Business Development; and Scientific, Technical, and IT roles (e.g., Scientific Information Lead).</span></p> <p><span>Most respondents, 72.7% (n=24), answered “Yes” to the question, “Has your organization established any policies, initiatives, or programs aimed at supporting research software?” Meanwhile, 18.2% (n=6) said “No,” and 9.1% (n=3) were “Unsure.”</span></p> <p><span>Regarding geographic distribution in the achieved sample, most survey respondents were from North America and Europe, with 15 and 12 participants, respectively. The sample also comprised 4 participants from South America, 3 from Oceania, and 1 from Asia, reflecting a global but uneven representation across continents. Some participating funders covered a broad spectrum of disciplines, while others focused on specific domains such as social sciences, health, environment, physical sciences, or humanities.</span></p>

<p>The shapefiles (.shp) provided in this repository are the datasets for the paper ´A new detailed global map of lunar light plains´ published in PSJ journal Special Issue. </p> <p>These shapefiles can be directly imported in ArcMap/ArcPRO. The third dataset is a .tif or image of the global map for a fast and easy overview.</p> <p>Two geomorphologic maps of lunar light plains are provided as described in the article: one with an FeO wt% cut off of about 12 wt% (Area_lightplains), and the other around 8 wt% (Area_LPFeOLow). </p> <p> </p>

Derived daily timeseries of weather, soil moisture and temperature, flow and nitrogen species (nitrate and nitrite, ammonium) concentrations data for the North Wyke Farm Platform National Biosciences Research Infrastructure, England
<p>For a selection of catchments from the North Wyke Farm Platform in southwest England, where land use conversions have been introduced, daily time series data covering weather conditions (minimum temperature, maximum temperature, total rainfall, wind speed and solar radiation), near-surface soil status (moisture content and temperature), flow and concentrations of key nitrogen species (nitrate and nitrite, ammonium) have been filtered based on attached data quality tags . The datasets run between 2013 and March 2024. For the main climate variables, data gaps were infilled with preceding- and following-on daily data, observations from a nearby weather station or existing national datasets to generate a continuous data series for modelling. For the other data series, annual and seasonal summary statistics on data coverage are provided. Information on significant field events, such as ploughing, drilling and harvest, fertiliser applications and manure spreading were also tabulated.</p>
A controlled vocabulary for research and innovation in the field of Circular Bioeconomy
<p>We live in a world of limited resources. Facing global challenges such as climate change and degradation of natural capital, in addition to the increasing rate of resource consumption, we are compelled to look for new ways of producing and consuming that respect the ecological limits of our planet. A model based on the Circular Bioeconomy (<em>CBE</em>) is key to successfully tackling the complexity of this paradigm shift and addressing these challenges: CBE is a relatively new and fast evolving concept, which is still in the conceptualisation phase. It stems from the concepts of “<em>bioeconomy</em>” and “<em>circular economy</em>”, which have become progressively interlinked in recent years.</p> <p>Although the wider community of stakeholders has not reached yet a consensus on a single definition for CBE, we try to go beyond this limitation, by proposing a controlled vocabulary of keywords related to the field, built by eliciting domain knowledge from both experts and policy-makers. This effort responds to an explorative project launched by the Generalitat de Catalunya (the regional government of Catalonia, Spain - specifically, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, Secretary for Economic Affairs and European Funds) in order to identify CBE research, development and innovation activities. The work, coordinated by SIRIS Academic, was carried out by consulting the advice of experts in the domain (see Acknowledgements, below), and it was ultimately applied to inform regional strategies on bioeconomy and the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation.</p> <p>After a qualitative analysis of numerous examples, the keywords extracted have been classified into three categories:</p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Unequivocal</strong>: keywords positively associated with the CBE domain (e.g. <em>bioplastic conversion, biorefinery, or biomass</em>),</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Bioeconomy</strong>: keywords in the bioeconomy domain but not necessarily within the circular paradigm (e.g. <em>agriculture, algae, or organic waste</em>),</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Technologies and processes</strong>: keywords concerning circular processes and technologies (e.g. <em>valorisation, or bioconversion</em>).</p> </li> </ul> <p>This distinction allows one to apply the vocabulary to link a given text to the CBE domain. Indeed, a text may be considered in the CBE perimeter if it mentions an unequivocal keyword, or if it contains a concept concerning bioeconomy co-appearing with a concept concerning circular technologies and processes (e.g. food waste with composting, or vegetation with biosynthesis).</p> <p>The circular bioeconomy vocabulary, in its current form, contains 393 keywords (49 unequivocal keywords, 229 bioeconomy keywords, and 115 concerning circular processes and technologies). <br> </p> <p><strong>Datasets Provided</strong></p> <p><br> In this publication, we provide:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li><strong>A document outlining the context that lead to the creation of the vocabulary</strong>, the methodology used to build it and the strategy to apply it</li> <li><strong>The full vocabulary of terms as a csv file</strong>. For each keyword of the vocabulary, the property “type” specifies whether the term is either an “Unequivocal” CBE keyword, a wider “Bioeconomy” term or a specification of “Technologies and processes”.</li> <li>In addition to the controlled vocabulary, we also provide <strong>a labelled dataset to foster the development of new text mining initiatives</strong> on the results obtained. The dataset consists of the description of 2000 R&D projects funded by the Horizon 2020 framework of the European Commission. Of these, 1000 have been associated with the field of CBE via the vocabulary and further manual validation, while further 1000 descriptions are unrelated to CBE.
