Outdoor monitoring of a hybrid micro-CPV solar panel with integrated micro-tracking and diffuse capture
<p>Dataset from the outdoor characterization of a B Series module from Insolight at the rooftop of the Instituto de Energía Solar - Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. These are measurements of a module of the same type as “<a href="zenodo.org/record/2667772">Outdoor monitoring data of an Insolight B-series module - CPV sub-module</a>” however, in the previous measurements the module was mounted on a two-axis tracker to benchmark its performance, while in these measurements, the module’s integrated planar micro tracking system was used. This data was presented at IEEE PVSC 46 in June 2019 in Chicago. <strong><a href="https://zenodo.org/record/3349781">See preprint of conference article</a>.</strong></p> <p><strong>Monitoring campaign:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Location: 40.453°N, -3.727°E. <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B027'11.6%22N+3%C2%B043'37.3%22W/@40.453215,-3.7275722,142m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m13!1m6!3m5!1s0x0:0xc636231f90c3bbeb!2sInstituto+de+Energ%C3%ADa+Solar!8m2!3d40.4531766!4d-3.7269107!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d40.4532142!4d-3.7270248">Instituto de Energía Solar</a>, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. 28040 Madrid, Spain.</li> <li>Fixed Mounting Angle: Due South, Slope Angle = 30°</li> <li>Starting date: 30 May 2019</li> <li>End date: 14 June 2018</li> </ul> <p><strong>Description of data file:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Data files format:</strong> single comma-separated text file; headers in first row; all of the following parameters; order below is the same as order in file</li> <li><strong>Measurement time</strong>: the vector of times represents the times at which the Insolight module firmware sampled the current values of the III-V and Si outputs (measured simultaneously). <ul> <li>Date Time (dd/mmm/yyyy HH:MM:SS): time in CEST / UTC+2</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Measured meteorological data</strong>: these values are measured directly by the IES meteorological station with 1-minute resolution. A Novel Hybrid Finite Element-Spectral Boundary Integral Scheme for Modeling Earthquake Cycles: Application to Rate and State Faults with Low-Velocity Zones
<p>We present a novel hybrid finite element (FE) - spectral boundary integral (SBI) scheme that enables efficient simulation of earthquake cycles. This combined FE-SBI approach captures the benefits of finite elements in modelling problems with nonlinearities, as well as the computational superiority of SBI. The domain truncation enabled by this scheme allows us to utilize high-resolution finite elements discretization to capture inhomogeneities or complexities that may exist in a narrow region surrounding the fault. Combined with an adaptive time stepping algorithm, this framework opens new opportunities for modeling earthquake cycles with high-resolution fault zone physics. In this initial study, we consider a two dimensional (2-D) anti-plane model with a vertical strike-slip fault governed by rate and state friction in the quasi-dynamic limit under the radiation damping approximation. The proposed approach is first verified using the benchmark problem BP-1 from the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) sequence of earthquake and aseismic slip (SEAS) community verification effort. The computational framework is then utilized to model the earthquake sequence and aseismic slip of a fault embedded within a low-velocity fault zone (LVFZ) with different widths and compliance levels. Our results indicate that sufficiently compliant LVFZs contribute to the emergence of sub-surface events that fail to penetrate to the free surface and may experience earthquake clusters with nonuniform inter-seismic time. Furthermore, the LVFZ leads to slip rate amplification relative to the homogeneous elastic case. We discuss the implications of our results for understanding earthquake complexity as an interplay of fault friction and bulk heterogeneities. Reconstructing 10-km-resolution direct normal irradiance dataset through a hybrid algorithm
<p>The 41-year (1982-2022) daily DNI dataset (CHDNI) reconstructed in this study has been uploaded, and stored in netcdf format. The one-year dataset comprises daily DNI estimates for either 365 or 366 days, with individual data files separately organized by year. Each daily file is stored in mat format and labeled as "pred_xxxxxyymm," where ‘xxxx' denotes the year, ‘yy' represents the month, and ‘mm' stands for the day. The geographical scope of CHDNI dataset spans from 3°N to 54°N in latitude and from 72°E to 136°E in longitude. The mat matrix, encapsulating the data, is configured with dimensions of 361 rows and 641 columns, measured in W/m2.</p> <p>If you want to use the CHDNI dataset for related scientific research, please contact us (Email: WHU_wjy@whu.edu.cn).</p> <ul> <li>Wu J, Niu J, Qi Q, Gueymard CA, Wang L, Qin W, et al. Hybrid deep learning framework for evaluating field evapotranspiration considering the impact of soil salinity
<p>Entitled “A novel hybrid deep learning framework for evaluating field evapotranspiration considering the impact of soil salinity” for possible publication in Water Resources Research.</p> <p>Data:</p> <p>The Salinized Farmland Flux Station sites are located in the typical irrigated agricultural area of the arid continental monsoon region in northwest China. In this study, we used data from four flux tower located in saline farmland: two for maize (MZ1, MZ2) and two for sunflower (SF1, SF2).</p> <p>For each site, we collected the following variables at half-hourly temporal resolution: (i) latent heat (<em>LE</em>, W m-2) fluxes, serving as a direct measure representing the energy component of <em>ET</em> (mm h-1), (ii) net radiation (<em>Rn</em>, W m-2), (iii) ground heat flux (<em>G</em>, W m-2), (iv) solar irradiance (<em>Rs</em>, W m-2), (v) air temperature (<em>T</em>a, °C), (vi) vapor pressure deficit (<em>VPD</em>, KPa), (vii) wind speed (<em>Us</em>, m s-1), (viii) relative humidity (<em>RH,</em> %), and (ix) atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration (<em>Ca</em>, mg m-3). During the crop growth period, field in-situ measurements of soil and vegetation data from these farmlands are conducted approximately every 10 days. </p> <p>Code:</p> <p>All the codes were executed in Python. The provided hybrid deep learning model code can be run on Jupyter Notebook.</p>
