Quasi-distributed fiber optic monitoring of thermo-hydro behavior of frozen loess for frost heave prediction

We developed a quasi-distributed fiber optic monitoring technology to investigate the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behaviors of frozen loess. A combined method was proposed to measure in-situ ice content, providing critical parameters for understanding THM coupled effects. To characterize the soil freezing-thawing process, we further carried out subsurface automated multiphysics monitoring at a site located on the Loess Plateau, China, during 2020/2021 winter by employing quasi-distributed fiber optic sensing arrays. The inner mechanism of frost heave was revealed via field monitoring data and correlation analysis, which directly promoted the development of a semiempirical frost heave prediction method. For this study area, the proposed method requiring only temperature data as inputs was validated using our field monitoring results.

The data presented here are the monitoring data of in-situ temperature, moisture content, and soil displacement. The results of frost heave prediction based on the field monitoring data are shown in the files.

Datasets of the manuscript "Optical manipulation of Rashba-split 2-Dimensional Electron Gas"

You can find here the two TimeResolved ARPES datasets used in the paper titled "Optical manipulation of Rashba-split 2-Dimensional Electron Gas".

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-30742-5

Data are in Igor Pro binary format.

RawData_1 is the dataset used in Fig.3. The x scaling has been converted from angle to momentum and the energy is rescaled with respect to the chemical potential at negative delays. The Time Delay scaling is found in timewave_1.

Similarly, RawData_2, RawData_20 and timewave_2 are the datasets used in Fig.2 of the paper. This x scale in both datasets has been converted from angle to momentum. The y-axes in RawData_20 is the kinetic energy. The y-axes in RawData_2 is the energy rescaled to the chemical potential at each time delay. The chemical potential is obtained by fitting the topological surface state around its Fermi momentum.

Global coarse and fine mode aerosol optical depth (cAOD, fAOD) from 2001 to 2020

Coarse and fine mode aerosol optical depth (cAOD, fAOD) is critical for understanding the impact of different particle sizes on climate. Currently, the limited data length and high uncertainty of satellite products impair the applicability of cAOD and fAOD for climate research. Here, we propose a spatio-temporal co-action deep learning model (SCAM) for the retrieval of global land cAOD and fAOD (500 nm) from 2001 to 2020, at daily temporal resolution and 1° spatial resolution.

The cAOD and fAOD products are uploaded as Geotiff format, stretched from -89.5° to 89.5° latitude and from -179.5° to 179.5° longitude. In some certain days the products might be inavailable, due to the missing MODIS satellite data used for calculating cAOD and fAOD.

An optical and chemiluminescence assay for assessing the cy-totoxicity of Balamuthia mandrillaris against human neuro-spheroids

A spheroid is a cell aggregate in a three-dimensional context; thereby, it recapitulates the cellular architecture in human tissue. However, the utility of spheroids as an assay for host-parasite interactions remains unexplored. This study demonstrates the potential use of neurospheroids for assessing the cytotoxicity of the life-threatening pathogenic amoeba Balamuthia mandrillaris. The neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells formed a spheroid in a hanging drop of culture medium. Cellular damage of B. mandrillaris trophozoites on human neuronal spheroids was observed using microscopic imaging and ATP detection. B. mandrillaris trophozoites rapidly caused a decrease in ATP production in the spheroid, leading to loss of neurospheroid integrity. Moreover, 3D confocal microscopy imaging revealed interactions between the trophozoites and SH-SY5Y neuronal cells in the outer layer of the neurospheroid. In conclusion, the neurospheroid allows the assessment of host cell damage in a simple and quantitative manner.
