Survey on lattice data analysis, presentation, and curation practices
<p>This repository contains the results of a survey on software workflows and open science in lattice field theory conducted in 2022 by Andreas Athenodorou, Ed Bennett, Julian Lenz, and Elli Papadopolou. These data were collected using <a href="https://www.limesurvey.org/">LimeSurvey</a>, and were first presented in <a href="https://indico.hiskp.uni-bonn.de/event/40/contributions/695/">a talk at Lattice 2022 by Andreas Athenodorou</a>.</p> <p>The analysis is based on Julian Lenz's <a href="https://github.com/chillenzer/limesurvey-parser">LimeSurvey CSV parser</a>.</p> <p>The survey results are included in survey-results-redacted.csv. The survey structure is included in survey-structure.lss. Further details of the structure of the data, setup, see the included README.md file.</p>

Impact of Software Engineering Research in Practice: A Patent and Author Survey Analysis
<p>Dataset of the research paper: <strong>Impact of Software Engineering Research in Practice: A Patent and Author Survey Analysis</strong></p> <p>Existing work on the practical impact of software engineering (SE) research examines industrial relevance rather than adoption of study results, hence the question of how results have been practically applied remains open. To answer this and investigate the outcomes of impactful research, we performed a quantitative and qualitative analysis of 4 354 SE patents citing 1 690 SE papers published in four leading SE venues between 1975–2017. Moreover, we conducted a survey on 475 authors of 593 top-cited and awarded publications, achieving 26% response rate. Overall, researchers have equipped practitioners with various tools, processes, and methods, and improved many existing products. SE practice values knowledge-seeking research and is impacted by diverse cross-disciplinary SE areas. Practitioner-oriented publication venues appear more impactful than researcher-oriented ones, while industry-related tracks in conferences could enhance their impact. Some research works did not reach a wide footprint due to limited funding resources or unfavorable cost-benefit trade-off of the proposed solutions. The need for higher SE research funding could be corroborated through a dedicated empirical study. In general, the assessment of impact is subject to its definition. Methodological and practical lessons learned from exploring the material criticality of two hydrogen-related products
<p>As the European Union embarks on the energy transition, several challenges need to be faced to ensure that this shift is conducted from a holistic perspective that avoids burden-shifting across sustainability dimensions. One of the main concerns refers to the future availability of materials that clean technologies require. Critical raw<br>material assessment serves to guide the management of such mineral resources in a new paradigm of increasing demand. This work delves into the methodological fundamentals of several product-level criticality indicators in order to discuss their implications within the context of the ecodesign of two hydrogen-related products. Overall, criticality is advised to be assessed making use of several indicators. In the case study of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack, the combined interpretation of criticality indicators leads to identifying platinum as the main hotspot, while yttrium and lanthanum account for the most relevant criticality contributions in the case<br>study of a solid oxide electrolysis cell stack.</p>
Duhumbi Agricultural Practices - Description, Audio, Video, Photos
<p>This collection of videos, audio and photo files displays Duhumbi agricultural practices as they were conducted between 2012 and 2017. Accompanying video and picture files illustrating the text files can be found at the end of this document.</p> <p>Traditionally, the people of the Chug valley depended on a mix of agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihoods, supplemented by hunting and collection of forest produce. The Chug valley and the Sangthi valley are the only places in West Kameng district where relatively large-scale wetland rice cultivation takes place. This rice has for long been the main item in the barter trade, as well as the main item collected as tax by the erstwhile Tibetan administration and raided by the Miji.</p> <p>Agriculture has always been the main-stay of the local economy, not just in terms of self-sufficiency, but also in terms of barter trade. The agricultural produce, mainly the rice, was bartered for other food and other items, a practice that, despite increasing monetisation of the economic system, continues till date.</p> <p>This material is made freely available to everyone for informative or scientific purposes as long as the source (this DOI) / the collectors are properly credited. Mapping practices of online community management
<p>Results of an online survey conducted during the period 13-31st March 2018. Responses were collected through a Google form; instructions and context were made available on a <a href="http://www.cottica.net/2018/03/13/mapping-online-community-management-practices-can-i-have-a-little-help-with-my-thesis/">web page</a>, the link of which was disseminated through Facebook, Twitter and on the e-mint mailing list (dedicated to professional online community managers on Yahoo. </p> <p>Each row of the file represents one questionnaire; each column represents one question.</p> <ul> <li>The first 9 questions are all of the format "To manage your online community, which of these courses of actions do you take, and how often?". The answers were given on a Likert-4 scale.</li> <li>The 10th question was "Do you want to add any other activity that uses up significant chunks of your community management time?". The answers were given in free form text.</li> <li>The 11th question was "How old is the community you manage? If you manage more than one, refer to the oldest." The answers were given as multiple choice, with three possible choices.</li> <li>The 12th question was "How large is the community you manage? If you manage more than one, refer to the largest.". The answers were given as multiple choice, with five possible choices.</li> </ul> <p>This work is part of my PhD Thesis.</p>
Farming Practices and Systems
<p>The Pesticides (use) database includes data on the use of major pesticide groups (Insecticides, Herbicides, Fungicides, Plant growth regulators and Rodenticides) and of relevant chemical families. Data report the quantities (in tonnes of active ingredients) of pesticides used in or sold to the agricultural sector for crops and seeds. Information on quantities applied to single crops is not available.</p>

Quantitative assessment of research data management practice
<p>This survey aims to investigate research data management practices in academic institutions. The survey comprises questions common to all institutions as well as institution-specific ones. Common questions were drafted in the frame of a collaboration between several RDM services: Tu Delft (team effort), EPFL (team effort), University of Cambridge (notably Marta Busse) and University of Illinois (notably Heidi Imker). The first survey was run by TU Delft and EPFL only end of 2017. In total, 1263 responses where collected (680 from TU Delft, 235 from EPFL and 348 from the University of Cambridge) and are published here. The results of each institution are provided in Microsoft Excel 2007 (XLSX) format. Consolidated results are provided in CSV format</p> <p>The first lines of the CSV file contains the question asked to researchers. Each further line contains the response of a researcher; answers to institution-specific questions are set to N/A for researchers of the other institutions. Column delimiters are commas(,), quote chars are double-quotes (") and subfield separators are semi-columns (;). Data accessibility in the chemical sciences: an analysis of recent practice in organic chemistry journals
<div> <p>Data is the analysis of the data outputs of 240 randomly selected research papers from 12 top-ranked journals published in early 2023. We investigate author compliance with recommended (but not compulsory) data policies, whether there is evidence to suggest that authors apply FAIR data guidance in their data publishing, and if the existence of specific recommendations for publishing NMR data by some journals encourages compliance. Files in the data package have been provided in both human and machine-readable forms. The main dataset is available in the Excel file Data worksheet.XLSX, the contents of which can also be found in Main_dataset.CSV, Data_types.CSV, and Article_selection.CSV with explanations of the variable coding used in the studies in Variable_names.CSV, Codes.CSV, and FAIR_variable_coding.CSV. The R code used for the article selection can be found in Article_selection.R. Data about article types from the journals that contain original research data is in Article_types.CSV. Data collected for analysis in our sister paper[4] can be found in Extended_Adherence.CSV, Extended_Crystallography.CSV, Extended_DAS.CSV, Extended_File_Types.CSV, and Extended_Submission_Process.CSV. Morphological and physical chemical characterization of main agricultural plastics articles used for protected cultivation systems during ageing in fields, and collection practices
<p>This dataset includes data generated upon the implementation of the ST 1.2.1 "Analysis of degradation and fragmentation of AP and transfer of MNP to soil". The activities dealt with the study of degradation and fragmentation from weathering and agricultural practices of conventional and biodegradable AP relevant for transfer of MNP to soil (during both use and end of life). In particular, the experimental data refer to characterization of biodegradable mulch films, pristine (coded M-BIO0) or subjected to photo-oxidative weathering (M-BIO192), as well as the same samples buried in soil for varying time periods, up to 353 days. The folders included contain gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI-TOF) data, which account for the change in film molecular weight upon soil burial. Furthermore, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) data and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Water Contact Angle (WCA) images of some selected samples are also provided. The folder named MS RAW FILES.zip includes all the mass spectrometry raw data.</p>
AquaVitae WP8 Good practice survey data and report
<p>AquaVitae (aquavitaeproject.eu) was a four-year (2019–2023) EU Horizon 2020 project that focused on increasing the production of value chains around the Atlantic basin involving LTA. WP8 concerned Aquaculture Policy and Governance. As part of this work-package we carried out a survey in 2022 of ‘good practice for rules, regulations and practices that can improve the conditions for developing low-trophic level aquaculture and promote economic, social, environmental and institutional sustainability'. The survey involved a preliminary web-based questionnaire, followed by interviews with some of those who responded to the questionnaire. </p> <p>Details of methods and findings are given in the AquaVitae deliverable D8.5, 'Report on good practice for policy development for low-trophic level aquaculture'. The deposited data are contained in two spreadsheets. These contain anonymised and thematically coded extracts from the interviews, organised by country (Brazil, Denmark, Faroes, France, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, USA). One spreadsheet reports interviews carried out in English, the other reports interviews carried out in Portuguese and then translated into English. </p>
