Raw stable water isotope measurements in water vapour at 13.5 m a.s.l., made in the austral summer of 2016/2017 during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).

Dataset abstract

This dataset includes the raw data of stable water vapour isotope (δ18O, δ2H, deuterium excess) and water vapour mixing ratio measurements taken in the Southern Ocean during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) from November 2016 to April 2017 using a Picarro laser spectrometer L2130. This data has to be calibrated using the calibration runs and applying an appropriate calibration procedure following the IAEA guide lines.

Two similar datasets also measuring stable water isotopes (SWIs) in water vapour were collected during the same expedition and can be distinguished from this dataset due to the height of the measurement collection (8 m a.s.l rather than 13.5 m a.s.l). The three ACE datasets of SWIs in water vapour are described and compared in Thurnherr et al. (2020).

The calibrated dataset can be found with DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3250790.

Dataset contents

year/month/day/HIDS2054-${year}${month}${day}-${time:Hhmmss}Z-DataLog_User.dat, data file, comma-separated values

data_file_header.txt, metadata, text format

README.txt, metadata, text format

Change log

v1.1 - Added 13.5 m a.s.l to title of dataset to distinguish it from other similar datasets collected during the expedition. Added calibrated dataset DOI and information about other SWI datasets from ACE, to abstract. Added reference to Thurnherr et al. (2020) to README.txt. Particulate organic carbon concentration in seawater profiles collected on board the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov in the Southern Ocean during the austral summer of 2016/2017 as part of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).

Dataset abstract

Seawater samples were collected from a Conductivity, Temperature, Depth (CTD) rosette, which was deployed from the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov. The samples were collected at a number of locations in the Southern Ocean as part of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) during the expedition that took place in the Austral summer of 2016/2017. Particulate organic matter (POC) is inclusive of all living and detrital material. It is the most common form of organic carbon matter that results from photosynthesis by phytoplankton. Seawater samples were filtered during the expedition and analysed post-cruise to provide this dataset of POC concentration profiles.

Dataset contents

ace_ctd_particulate_organic_carbon_concentration.csv, data file, comma-separated values

data_file_header.txt, metadata, text

README.txt, metadata, text

Dataset license

This particulate organic carbon concentration in seawater dataset is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) whose full description can be found at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Five-minute average horizontal wind velocity data combined from both sensors (which has been corrected for air-flow distortion) from the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) 2016/2017 legs 0 to 4.

Dataset abstract

The horizontal wind velocity data from the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) 2016/2017 legs 0 to 4 has been corrected for air-flow distortion. The measurements from both the port and starboad side anemometer were averaged to five-minute resolution and have been combined via vector averaging of the data. The ten meter neutral wind speed (U10N) has been estimated using ERA-5 surface heat fluxes, which were interpolated onto the ship's track, and the COARE 3.5 drag coefficient. This data set provides a continous and high-resolution record of the wind speed and direction near to the ship's location.

Dataset contents

wind-observations-port-stbd-corrected-combined-5min-legs0-4.csv, data file, comma-separated values

data_file_header, metadata, text format

README.txt, metadata, text format

Dataset license

This five-minute averaged wind velocity dataset is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) whose full text can be found at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Vertical profiles of Doppler spectra of hydrometeors from a Micro Rain Radar recorded during the austral summer of 2016/2017 in the Southern Ocean on the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).

Dataset abstract

This dataset includes vertical profiles of the Doppler spectra and derived quantities of hydrometeors using a Micro Rain Radar (MRR-2) during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition in 2016/2017. The MRR is a frequency-modulated-continuous-wave (FMCW) Doppler radar working at 24 GHz (K band). It measures the Doppler spectrum at vertical incidence with 31 range gates of 100 m. The data are processed to calculate rainfall rates and standard radar moments. For rain events, the drop size distribution and the rainfall rate are derived using the method by Peters et al. (2005). For snow events, the moments are computed from the Doppler spectrum as described in Maahn & Kollias (2012).

Dataset contents

RawSpectra/${year}${month}/MRR_ACE_${year}${month}${day}_RAW.nc: raw data of Doppler spectra for rainfall events. Molecular Dynamics Trajectory of CsPbI3 produced using ACE MLFF

Molecular dynamics trajectories of CsPbI3, with 2 fs timestep between computed frames, frames are recorded every 200 fs. Under each folder, there are three npz files (each contains 100 ps of trajectory) and one initial configuration LAMMPS data file. The npz files can be read with 'numpy.load'. There are three entries for each npz object, 'positions' for the atomic positions, 'cells' for the lattice dimensions, and 'numbers' for the atomic number of the species.
