Bemisia tabaci, a global invader: A 49-year bibliometric analysis

A literature search was conducted on the Web of Science database was conducted to identify all relevant articles from 1971 to 2020 on Bemisia tabaci. The search string yielded 4819 articles, of which all were eligible for quantitative analysis. The annual growth rate was -1.28%, and the majority of the papers were written by authors based in the USA, followed by China. Among the top 20 journals, the top three were entomology journals, namely the Journal of Economic Entomology, Pest Management Science, and Environmental Entomology. The author who wrote the most articles was Lui SS with 125 articles (24.19 fractionalized articles), whereas the most citated author was Brown JK with 646 citations (24.8462 total citations per year). Based on the results, continued collaboration among different countries at varying economic developmental stages is encouraged in order to better understand how to stem the tide of invasive species and their associated impacts
