Heterotrophic bacterial production using 3H-Leucine incorporation from discrete bottle samples from CCE process cruises in the California Current System, 2007 - 2017 (ongoing).

Seawater samples were taken from 6 depths from each mid-day CTD cast to estimate rates of bacterial protein synthesis using the 3H-Leucine incorporation method. Bacterial protein synthesis was converted to bacterial production estimates. These samples are used to further understanding of secondary production and sinks for primary production that can be used to monitor chages at the base of the food web over time.

Integrated daily photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) measured aboard CCE LTER process cruises in the California current, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Photosynthetically active radiation designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis. Daily integrated values were produced for days during three CCE LTER process cruises in the California Current region in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

N-S and E-W components of the current (averaged by cruise cycle) as measured by a shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) aboard the CCE LTER process cruise in the California Current region, 2007.

Underway measurements by the ADCP are made (about every 15 mins) on cruises to determine how fast water is moving across an entire water column, then averaged by cruise cycle. The ADCP measures the absolute speed of water currents with sound waves (Doppler effect) at multiple depths within the water column, and profile data are available immediately. For these data, the N-S and E-W components of the current were averaged by cycle.

Example CCE worldtube input data

This is an example worldtube file for evaluating the installation and functionality of a Cauchy Characteristic extraction scheme for waveform extraction from finite-radius GR simulation. This file was generated by a SpEC run of an equal-mass non-spinning binary black hole simulation by Mark Scheel. The techniques used to simulate the binary black hole system are similar to those used in Boyle et. al. 2019, in particular the GR simulation techniques published in Lindblom et. al. 2006. This is a suitable input file for instance, for SpECTRE or SpEC CCE systems.

Index of visual monitoring efforts, weather conditions and position updates from CalCOFI cruises in the California Current System, 2008 - 2009. This dataset has been superseded by knb-lter-cce.262.

Field observations are carried out to gain understanding of cetacean ecology and habitat. Visual monitoring for cetaceans has been conducted on quarterly CalCOFI cruises since July 2004 using standard line-transect protocol (Burnham et al. 1980;Buckland et al. 1993; Barlow 1995). Visual observers watch during daylight hours, when weather permits (Beaufort sea states 0 to 5 and visibility greater than 1 nautical mile) and while the ship transits between CalCOFI stations.

Index of visual monitoring, location, species behavior, and identification from CalCOFI cruises in the California Current System, 2008 - 2009. This dataset has been superseded by knb-lter-cce.262.

Visual monitoring efforts for cetaceans has been conducted on quarterly CalCOFI cruises since July 2004. This effort utilizes a standard line-transect protocol (Burnham et al. 1980;Buckland et al. 1993; Barlow 1995). Visual observers watch during daylight hours, when weather permits (Beaufort sea states 0 to 5 and visibility greater than 1 nautical mile) and while the ship transits between CalCOFI stations. A team of two observers search for cetaceans in a 90 degree field of view from the bow to beam of the ship, alternating between 18 and 50 power binoculars and the naked eye.

This data set is six 30-day ocean state estimation products for LTER-CCE cruises. The time periods of data assimilation fits for each LTER-CCE cruise are the following: 2006: 5/8 - 6/6, 2007: 4/1- 4/30, 2008 : 10/1 - 10/30, 2009 : 4/15 - 5/14, 2011 : 6/17 - 7/16, 2012 : 7/27 - 8/25

Used the sea surface height, sea surface temperature data measured from the space, and in situ temperature and salinity data from varied observational platforms including CCE-LTER cruises, we constrained the numerical ocean circulation model, Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS), so that the model simulation closely follows the observed ocean states. Data files are in netcdf format containing longitude, latitude, bathymetry, sea surface height, ocean current, temperature, salinity, density anomaly and surface fluxes. ROMS has a terrain following vertical coordinate and resolves shallow coastal regions better by construction. As a result, the depth of vertical level changes depending on the depth of bathymetry. This data set is the product of the investigations presented in Miller, A. J., H. Song and A. C. Subramanian, 2015: The physical oceanographic environment during the CCE-LTER years: Changes in climate and concepts. Deep-Sea Research II, 112, 6-17. Song, H., A. J. Miller, S. McClatchie, E. D. Weber, K. M. Nieto and D. M. Checkley, 2012: Application of a data-assimilation model to variability of Pacific sardine spawning and survivor habitats with ENSO in the California Current System. Journal of Geophysical Research-Oceans, 117, C03009, doi:10.1029/2011JC007302. IHW COMET HALLEY POLARIMETRIC OBSERVATIONS V1.0

NASA's International Halley Watch (IHW) has created a Comet Halley Archive. The collection of data spans the full wavelength range as submitted by scientists to the IHW. The observations belong to one of the following Disciplines: Amateur, Astrometry, Infrared Studies, Large-Scale Phenomena, Meteor Studies, Near-Nucleus Studies, Photometry and Polarimetry, Radio Studies, and Spectroscopy and Spectrophotometry. The data collected by these nine disciplines were augmented by Spacecraft measurements. The data were submitted to IHW, but the evaluation and selection for the Archive has been the primary responsibility of the Discipline Specialist Teams for each network in cooperation with the Lead Center. The Photometry and Polarimetry Network collected 884 polarimetric observations for the Polarimetry Subnetwork. The majority of these observations (752) are expressed as 'percent polarization'. These data span the dates from 1985 September 13 through 1986 May 17.

AMPTE-CCE Medium Energy Particle Analyzer (MEPA), Energetic Particles, H0, 0.1875 s Data

This dataset contains high time resolution MEPA rate channel data. MEPA is a particle telescope with an ION head and a TOF head. The TOF head can measure species and energy, while the ION head only measures the energy of the ions, which are mostly protons. In fact, the counts in the ION head are all assumed to be protons up to 1830 keV. The ION head has 10 energy channels, and so the first 8 channels, that are all below 1830 keV, are assumed to be all protons, and the 2 channels above this are assumed to be all alphas. The TOF head has 9 energy channels that are generic, ions of any species are counted, and some species specific channels for protons, helium, oxygen, and iron. The AMPTE data was divided into records, with each record holding data from 4 spins. In any record, all the TOF species channels are always present, but only one of either a, the 10 ION head channels or b, 9 TOF generic channels are present. The majority of records have the ION head channels. The AMPTE spacecraft had a spin period of about 6 seconds. The exact spin period varies slightly and is included in the data. MEPA data is sectored into 32 directions per spin. Nearly all channels are reported as sectored values, but to conserve telemetry, many channels are only read out every other spin, or every fourth spin. In this data, all values are summed so that they are reported every fourth spin. Note that in the original AMPTE datesets, there was a timing problem which required that 19.75 seconds, one Major Frame of telemetry, be added to time values extracted from the processing system. This correction has already been made in the particle data in this dataset.
