Dataset for ApJ Letter: Confinement of the Solar Tachocline by Dynamo Action in the Radiative Interior

This dataset contains the input files (main_input and custom_reference_binary), basic simulation info (grid_info, jobinfo.txt, and equation_coefficients) and the last Rayleigh checkpoints for the two cases published in the ApJ Letter, Confinement of the Solar Tachocline by Dynamo Action in the Radiative Interior. The data for each case (the "HD case" and "MHD case" as referred to in the paper) are given in .zip files.

NOTE: The MHD case has custom diagnostic outputs and the main_input file (as directly given here) can only be run using Loren Matilsky's personal branch of the code: https://github.com/illorenzo7/Rayleigh/tree/me_prod_subcurv (for full reproducibility, commit fcf1a7b81624a0af7866d52d5b7836549268044e). Otherwise, the MHD case should run using the current main branch of the Rayleigh code (https://github.com/geodynamics/Rayleigh), as long as the custom quantity codes (>2200) are removed.

Three dimensional localization refinement and motion model parameter estimation for confined single particle tracking under low-light conditions: Simulation datasets

The datasets store both motion and observation information of a single fluorescent sub-diffraction limit-sized particle moving in a three-dimensional confined environment. The confined motion is following a nonlinear model driven by non-Gaussian noise, the observation is formed by engineered Double-helix (DH) point spread function (PSF) and captured by scientific complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (sCMOS) camera. Based on our prior computationally efficient application of Sequential Monte Carlo - Expectation Maximization (SMC-EM), we extended it to handle the DH-PSF for encoding the three-dimensional position of the particle in two-dimensional image plane of the camera. We focus on studying the datasets at low signal and low signal-to-background ratio (SBR). Based on the datasets across different SBR and confinement lengths, a quantitative comparison is conducted to show that in the low signal regime, the SMC-EM approach outperforms the other methods while at higher signal-to-background levels, SMC-EM and the MLE-based methods perform equally well and both are significantly better than fitting to the MSD. In addition, our results indicate that at smaller confinement lengths where the nonlinearities dominate the motion model, the SMC-EM approach is superior to the alternative approaches.

Data for: Neuromorphic functions with a polyelectrolyte-confined fluidic memristor

Reproducing the ion channel-based neural functions with artificial fluidic systems is a long aspirational goal both for neuromorphic computing and biomedical applications. Herein neuromorphic functions are successfully accomplished with polyelectrolyte-confined fluidic memristors (PFMs), in which confined polyelectrolyte-ion interactions contribute to hysteretic ion transport, resulting in ionic memory effects. Various electric pulse patterns are emulated by PFM with ultralow power consumption. Benefiting from the fluidic-based property of PFMs, mimicking chemical-regulated electric pulse is investigated and accomplished. More importantly, chemical-electric signal transduction is implemented based on the specific recognition of PFM. With structural emulation to ion channels, PFM features versatility and easily interfaces with biological systems, paving a way to building neuromorphic devices with advanced functions by introducing rich chemical designs.

This was used to determine the structural reconstruction of the WSe2 / WS2 heterostructure.

The `EELS Spectrum Image.dm4` is a spectrum image (one spectra per probe position). This was used to determine the extent of the localization of the exciton peak I.

The two `ipynb` jupyter notebooks were used to do the analysis shown in the paper. The output is embedded in the notebooks. Data from: Direct evidence of permeability evolution of Nanan granite after two cooling paths under different confining pressures: A comparative study

Permeability decides the mass transfer behavior and plays a key role in the heat extraction of enhanced geothermal systems (EGSs), and the aim of the injection of cooling water is to enhance permeability within the geothermal reservoirs. Direct evidence of how cool water affecting permeability evolution is still limited. Therefore, we explored the permeability evolution of Nanan granite after air and water cooling under different confining pressures combined with optical microscopy and X-ray CT observation. We found that there are lots of microdefects observed in Nanan granite after two cooling paths, which dominantly drives the evolution of permeability from a microscopic scale. The permeabilities of granite under water-cooling condition are always larger than those under air-cooling condition, and water-cooling treatment further enhances the permeability of specimens. The permeabilities of granite specimens after two cooling paths decrease with confining stress. More microcracks and better connectivity among microcracks produce a larger permeability within the specimen after water cooling. The observed microcracks are regarded as the seepage channels and direct microscale evidence of permeability evolution of granite after two cooling paths. Our results may suggest that water injection is an efficient way for permeability enhancement due to thermal microcracks propagation in thermal simulation.
