Persistent Photoluminescence and Mechanoluminescence of a Highly Sensitive Pressure and Temperature Gauge in Combination with a 3D-printable Optical Coding Platform
<p><span>Distinct types of luminescence that are activated by various stimuli in a single material offer exciting developmental opportunities for functional materials. In this study, we introduce a versatile sensing platform that exhibits three types of luminescence: photoluminescence (PL), persistent luminescence (PersL), and mechanoluminescence (ML), which enables the sensitive detection of temperature, pressure, and force/stress. The developed Sr<sub>2</sub>MgSi<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub>:Eu<sup>2+</sup>/Dy<sup>3+</sup> material exhibits a linear relationship between ML intensity and force, and can be used as an ML stress sensor within the 3–30 N range. Additionally, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) value of the PL emission band and the PL lifetime of this material are remarkably sensitive to changes in temperature, with values of approximately 0.05 nm/K and 1.29 %/K, respectively. This study demonstrated the use of PersL for sensing pressure for the first time, along with its long-lasting (seconds) lifetime as a manometric parameter. The developed material functions as an exceptionally sensitive triple-mode visual pressure sensor; specifically it exhibits: i) a sensitivity of approximately −297.4 cm<sup>−1</sup>/GPa (8.11 nm/GPa) in bandshift mode, ii) a sensitivity of ~272.7 cm<sup>−1</sup>/GPa (14.8 nm/GPa) in bandwidth mode, and iii) a sensitivity of 42 %GPa<sup>−1</sup> in PL-lifetime mode, which is the highest value reported to date. Notably, anti-counterfeiting, night-vision safety-sign, 8-bit optical-coding, and QR-code applications that exhibit intense PersL were demonstrated by 3D-printing the studied material in combination with a polymer.</span></p>

ASM-SS: The First Quasi-Global High Spatial Resolution Coastal Storm Surge Dataset Reconstructed from Tide Gauge Records
<p>The ASM-SS dataset is a high spatial resolution (every 10 km per node along the coastline), long-term (over 80 years from 1940 to 2020), quasi-global (within 45°S-45°N), hourly data-driven storm surge dataset. Each NetCDF file includes five parameters: longitude, latitude, nodes, time, and surge level. Longitude and latitude are the location information of nodes in degree; the unit of time is accumulated hours since 1900-01-01 00:00:00; surge levels are given in meters. Users can use longitude, latitude, and time as keywords to select surge levels at nodes of interest within a target period. </p>

<p>The rain gauge measurements were compiled by the National Institute of Meteorology of Brazil 40 and consist of hourly gauge measurements covering the time range May 2000 until May 2020. They are used as reference data 'An improved near-real-time precipitation retrieval for Brazil' by Pfreundschuh et al. and published here in order to ensure reproducibility.</p>

Locating Manning-based Satellite Gauging Reach for River Discharge Estimation from Remotely Sensed Imagery
<p>River discharge is critical for understanding river hydrological condition and water resource management. With the advance of earth observation technologies, estimating river discharge through remote sensing using Manning's Equation has become more and more popular for filling the gaps in gauging observations. However, finding a Manning-based Satellite Gauging Reach (MSGR) that can successfully transfer satellite signals into river discharge based on the Equation is not easy and lacks proper guidance. <p>I examine the groups which underly classical mechanics, non-relativistic quantum mechanics, special relativity, relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum electrodynamics, quantum flavourdynamics, quantum chromodynamics, and general relativity. This examination includes the rotations SO(2) and SO(3), the Pauli algebra, the Lorentz transformations, the Dirac algebra, and the U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) gauge transformations. I argue that general relativity must be generalized to Einstein-Cartan theory, so that Dirac spinors can be described within the framework of gravitation theory.</p>

Simple Tender Car (Standard-Gauge GWR)
This car is part of my first excursion deeper into the world of steam, and mostly exists because I didn't want to include this model in the uploads for my steam engine models. It just feels better to have the models be their own things, so this one has been designed for reuse. Full disclosure, this model was designed to be compatible with my steam engines (as in the couplings do indeed roughly match in size to say, the 4300). It likely won't find with any other model you see on this site because I never used those as reference lol. But modification is welcomed to these models. Since they're not perfect. This would certainly look better with texturing, and it'll probably be used in one of my first forays into the medium. Fun stuff, but enjoy this for now folks. The EcoTrends project was established in 2004 by Dr. Debra Peters (Jornada Basin LTER, USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range) and Dr. Ariel Lugo (Luquillo LTER, USDA-FS Luquillo Experimental Forest) to support the collection and analysis of long-term ecological datasets. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities. Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office. The following dataset from Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory (GSW) contains precipitation measurements in centimeter units and were aggregated to a monthly timescale.
