Published articles on gender in cultural and creative sectors
<p>Results from the analysis of 6.631 scientific articles on Gender in Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS) retrieved from Web of Science and dating between 1958 and 2022. The largest number of publications have their focus on the audio-visual and multimedia industry (37,08%), followed by performing arts (20,48%), book and press (17,80%) and visual arts (9,35%). In other CCS, the share of publications ranges between 5,35% (advertising) and 0,41% (arts and crafts).</p> <p>Therefore, there is an evident need to foster research on the women's role in particular domains of the CCS, such as heritage, library, archives, architecture and, especially, arts and crafts. <p>Dataset consisting of Last.fm listening events data with annotated gender labels for both users and artists. Data from: Sexually-selected male weapon is associated with lower inbreeding load but higher gender load in the bulb mite
<p>Elaborate sexually selected ornaments and armaments are costly but increase the reproductive success of their bearers (usually males). It has been postulated that high-quality males can invest disproportionately more in such traits, making those traits honest signals of genetic quality. However, genes associated with such traits may have sexually antagonistic effects on fitness. Here, using a bulb mite <i>Rhizoglyphus robini</i>, a species in which a distinct dimorphism exists between males in the expression of a sexually selected weapon, we compare inbreeding and gender load between lines derived from armed fighters and unarmed scramblers. After four generations of sib-mating, inbreeding depression for female fitness was significantly lower in fighter-derived lines compared to scrambler-derived lines, suggesting that fighter males had significantly higher genetic quality. However, outbred females from fighter-derived lines had significantly lower fitness compared to outbred females from scrambler-derived lines, demonstrating significant gender load associated with the presence of a sexually selected male weapon. Our results imply that under outbreeding, genetic benefits of mating with bearers of elaborate sexually selected traits might be swamped by the costs of decreased fitness of female progeny due to sexually antagonistic effects.</p>

Gender inequalities on editorial boards of indexed pediatrics journals
<p>These raw data belong to the study “Gender inequalities on editorial boards of indexed pediatrics journals”. </p> <p>The presence of women in decision-making positions, such as on editorial committees of biomedical journals, is not the same as that of men. This paper analyzes the gender composition of editorial committees (EBMs) and editor-in-chief (ECs) positions of pediatric journals. The gender of EBMs and ECs of 125 journals classified in the pediatrics area of the Journal Citation Report (JCR) were analyzed. The following indicators were calculated: gender distribution of ECs and EBMs by journal, publisher, subject speciality, country, quartile of the journal in JCR and country of affiliation of the members. The total number of EBMs was 4,242. The distribution by sex of the ECs was 19.44% women and 80.56% men, while the EBMs were 33.05% women and 66.95% men. Twenty journals exhibited a greater representation of women than men, and in four there was parity. Journals with greater participation of women specialized in nursing, physical therapy and were related to nutrition (lactation and breastfeeding). Only one-fifth of ECs and one-third of EBMs are female. Women's participation is higher in journals related to nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and nutrition.
