Measuring the effects of regolith porosity on mid-IR spectra of the Allende meteorite

<p>This dataset contains three types of data: 1) Mid-Infrared (MIR; 5-35 micron) laboratory spectra of the Allende meteorite, 2) Measured parameters of the MIR Allende spectra, and 3) MIR spectra from the Spitzer Space Telescope of asteroids (85989) 1999 JD6, (234) Barbara, (5261) Eureka, and (114) Kassandra as described in Dausend et al., (in rev).&nbsp;</p> <p>Allende meteorite spectra files are labeled accordingly: Allende_[largest particle size]_[Allende ratio]</p> <p>Example: The file labeled Allende_63_70.txt contains spectra of Allende powder with 45-63 micron particle size, and an Allende:KBr ratio of 70:30.</p> <div>Additional information regarding Allende spectra feature parameters:&nbsp;</div> <div>We combined some features together for band parameter analyses to form &lsquo;composite features&rsquo;. IRS WP2 Task 2.4: Heat Flux Experiments With Magnet

<p>This folder contains 12 videos documenting heat flux experiments conducted in the PWK1 plasma wind tunnel facility at the Institute of Space Systems, University of Stuttgart, as part of the Horizon 2020 MEESST project. The videos showcase experiments designed to test the heat flux mitigation potential of an active magnetic shield during atmospheric entry.</p> <p>The setup features a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) plasma probe, visible on the right side of the frame, which houses a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) coil. High-enthalpy air plasma flow is generated by the self-field magnetoplasmadynamic plasma generator, RD5, located on the left side of the frame. The MHD plasma probe is positioned 517.5 mm downstream from the anode exit plane of the RD5 generator.</p> <p>During testing, the magnetic (B) field created by the HTS solenoid within the MHD plasma probe was varied from 0 A to 50 A, with 50 A producing a magnetic field strength of approximately 0.67 T at the stagnation point. The probe was subjected to six different B-field strengths across two test conditions that simulated the thermochemical environments of early entry phases for two types of Earth reentry: hyperbolic (227 kW) and high-elliptic (181 kW).</p>

Upon continuous exciation, especially at excitation conditions used in single-molecule and super-resolution experiments, photo-isomerized states of cyanines easily reach population probabilies of around 50%. Still, effects of photo-isomerization are largely ignored in such experiments. Here, we studied the photo-isomerization of the pentamethine Cyanine 5 (Cy5) by two similar, yet complementary means to follow fluorophore blinking dynamics: fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and transient state (TRAST) excitation-modulation spectroscopy. Additionally, we combined TRAST and spectrofluorimetry (spectral-TRAST), whereby emission spectra of Cy5 were recorded upon different rectangular pulse-train excitations. We also developed a framework for analyzing transitions between multiple emissive states in FCS and TRAST experiments, how the brightness of the different states is weighted, and what initial conditions that apply. Our FCS, TRAST and spectral-TRAST experiments showed significant differences in dark state relaxation amplitudes for different spectral detection ranges, which we attribute to an additional, red-shifted emissive photo-isomerized state of Cy5, not previously considered in FCS and single-molecule experiments. The photo-isomerization kinetics of this state indicate that it is formed under moderate excitation conditions, and its population and emission may thus deserve also more general consideration in fluorescence imaging and spectroscopy experiments.</p>
