Mapping an Impact Network for Transformational Change in CLEVER - Stakeholder Database
<p>How does international trade in agricultural and forest products affect biodiversity? CLEVER (Creating leverage to enhance biodiversity outcomes of global biomass trade) investigates this question, particularly for animal feed, energy crops, tropical timber and aquacultures.<br> <br> This stakeholder database has been created in the CLEVER project to provide a comprehensive but not exhaustive list of stakeholders who may have an interest in CLEVER. The database includes information such as names and types of organisations and data about their role in the value chains concerned (timber and soy in Brazil, timber in Cameroon, fishmeal and oil globally). Particular attention has been paid to the involvement of local communities and vulnerable groups directly or indirectly affected by trade. </p>
ipaast project - community stakeholder survey data and basic analysis
<p>This data provides the basis for the report titled</p> <p>"Ready for integrated sustainable agricultural land management? </p> <p>Are practitioners in archaeology and agriculture informed, willing, enabled, and motivated to change how they work with remote and near-surface sensing data to collaboratively address contemporary challenges in sustainable agricultural land management? "</p> <p>Data were collected in compliance with the University of Glasgow's Research Ethics Policy (Application #100200154).</p> <p>As stated in the Methods section of this report:</p> <p>"The participatory survey was conducted between May 2021 and October 2022. </p> <p>Location: The preponderance of stakeholders engaged with are professional practitioners or researchers based in the UK, Belgium, Italy, Cyprus, Spain and France. Sessions occurred remotely (online/phone), as well as on site, during workshops at the University of Glasgow, the Dalswinton Estate, Dumfries, and Manor Farm, Yedingham. </p> <p>Participants </p> <p>Selection: A sub-group of 51 high-level participants were selected from a greater network of 86 stakeholders who were engaged with during the ipaast project. </p> <p>Sector: Farmers, researchers, heritage managers, geophysicists, remote sensing specialists, statisticians, soil scientists, service providers, sensor developers, and data archivists, who all deal directly, or indirectly with datasets relating to the measurement of soil and/or plant properties (physical, chemical, microbial) were represented (Table 1) </p> <p>Expertise: Engagement with mid- to late- career specialists was prioritised, with many participants having over 20 years of experience and most having over 10 years of experience (including time during the PhD). </p> <p> </p> <p>Interview method </p> <p>Engagement with stakeholders was primarily through one-to-one interviews and structured workshop discussions, conducted either in person, or remotely over video conference or phone. In some instances, participants provided written input (see Table 2 summary). Follow-up interviews or written exchanges were used to clarify or continue discussions when required. A semi-structured approach to interviews and discussions was preferred, with a mix of general questions (see sample questions), as well as questions specifically tailored to the participants specialist background and experience. </p> <p>Sample Questions: </p> <ul> <li> <p>What types of sensing data do you use/collect? </p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p>Where/how do you access/collect these data? </p> </li> <li> <p>What are your main aims/applications in using or collecting these data? </p> </li> <li> <p>How often do you access/collect, or anticipate accessing/collecting, these data to be useful to you? </p> </li> <li> <p>What spatial resolution is necessary for these data to be useful to you? </p> </li> <li> <p>What, if anything, would encourage/discourage you from sharing your data? </p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p>What kinds of additional data types or additional information (metadata) might help you to better understand and use data which you have previously collected or received? </p> </li> <li> <p>What do you see as the main impacts, if any, of ecosystem service frameworks and/or recent changes to rural/environmental regulations on your work? </p> </li> <li> <p>What attitudes to sensing data do you see from other stakeholders in rural affairs? </p> </li> </ul> <p>Documentation: Where viable, interviews and workshop discussions were recorded and transcribed; alternatively, notes were made during engagement by either the interviewer and/or dedicated participant observers (e.g. at workshops). Where notes were used, specific quotes and summary reports were checked with the participants for accuracy. "</p>
Meta-analysis on Stakeholder Engagement in the Co-Production of Knowledge for Environmental Decision-making
<p>This dataset corresponds to a meta-analysis to examine the peer-reviewed scholarship on stakeholder engagement in co-production processes in environmental decision-making.</p> <p>The dataset was developed by searching keywords, abstracts, and titles in Scopus on three key themes: co-production, transdisciplinary, and community-based participatory research. A total of 709 publications were reviewed, from which 144 met the selection criterion. The 144 articles constitute this dataset. They pertain to articles published between January 2005 and June 2020.</p> <p>The data includes information on the following topics:</p> <ol> <li>Number of unique case studies reported</li> <li>The projects’ time span</li> <li>When stakeholder engagement activities occur during the project cycle</li> <li>Are stakeholders (non-university researchers) an author</li> <li>Geographic region of project</li> <li>Environmental issues addressed</li> <li>Geographic scale of project </li> <li>Types of stakeholders engaged </li> <li>How stakeholders were engaged</li> <li>What output resulted from stakeholder engagement</li> <li>Approach to stakeholder engagement</li> <li>Factors that enabled stakeholder engagement</li> <li>Barriers or challenges to engagement</li> <li>Societal impacts associated with stakeholder engagement</li> <li>Direct evidence of societal impacts of stakeholder engagement</li> </ol> <p>The methods and analysis are presented in "Stakeholder Engagement in the Co-Production of Knowledge for Environmental Decision-making," which was submitted for publication in 2022 to the Journal <em>World Development</em>. Data from: How to use discrete choice experiments to capture stakeholder preferences in social work research
<p>The primary article (cited below under "Related works") introduces social work researchers to discrete choice experiments (DCEs) for studying stakeholder preferences. The article includes an online supplement with a worked example demonstrating DCE design and analysis with realistic simulated data. The worked example focuses on caregivers' priorities in choosing treatment for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This dataset includes the scripts (and, in some cases, Excel files) that we used to identify appropriate experimental designs, simulate population and sample data, estimate sample size requirements for the multinomial logit (MNL, also known as conditional logit) and random parameter logit (RPL) models, estimate parameters using the MNL and RPL models, and analyze attribute importance, willingness to pay, and predicted uptake. It also includes the associated data files (experimental designs, data generation parameters, simulated population data and parameters, simulated choice data, MNL and RPL results, RPL sample size simulation results, and willingness-to-pay results) and images. The data could easily be analyzed using other software, and the code could easily be adapted to analyze other data. Because this dataset contains only simulated data, we are not aware of any legal or ethical considerations.</p>
Report of the Focus Group with Maghreb-based Stakeholders
<p>As part of the MENARA project, Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) organized a focus group in Rabat (Morocco) on 11 July 2018 with various scholars and experts from the Maghreb and those working in the region. The discussions were linked to the general aims of the MENARA project (to characterize the regional order, define scenarios and discuss the policy options for the EU) and was structured in four parts:<br> 1. From land productivity trends to land degradation assessment in Mozambique: Effects of climate, human activities and stakeholder definitions. <em>Land Degrad Dev</em>.; 32: 49– 65. <a href="https://doi.org/10.1002/ldr.3704">https://doi.org/10.1002/ldr.3704</a></strong></p> <p>This study aimed at characterizing and mapping the underlying factors (human or climatic) in land productivity changes over the 2000-2016 period, in order to assess land degradation in Mozambique.</p> <p>The methodology is based on remote sensing methodology. Land productivity change were first analyzed using MODIS NDVI time-series (2000–2016), and a two-step framework was then used to understand the main factors of these productivity changes, using climate times series (CHIRPS data for rainfall and CRU data for temperature), Land Use and Land Cover Change (LULCC) maps (Laurel project LULCC map), and ground knowledge.</p> <p>This repository includes raster data of annual land productivity change over the 2000-2016 period, annual land productivity climate factors, potential land productivity decrease factors and potential productivity increase factors. Data are available as GeoTIFF raster files at 250 m resolution in the UTM 37S projection (EPSG: 32737).</p>
Data from: Making Brexit work for the environment and livelihoods: delivering a stakeholder informed vision for agriculture and fisheries
1. The UK's decision to leave the EU has far-reaching implications for agriculture and fisheries. To ensure the future sustainability of UK agricultural and fisheries systems, we argue that it is essential to grasp the opportunity that Brexit is providing to develop integrated policies that improve the management and protection of the natural environments, upon which these industries rely. 2. This article advances a stakeholder informed vision of the future design of UK agriculture and fisheries policies. We assess how currently emerging UK policy will need to be adapted in order to implement this vision. Our starting point is that Brexit provides the opportunity to redesign current unsustainable practices and can in principle deliver a sustainable future for agriculture and fisheries. 3. Underpinning policies with an ecosystem approach, with explicit inclusion of public goods provision, and social welfare equity were found to be central to the success of this endeavour. Recognition of the needs of, and innovative practices in, the devolved UK nations is also required as the new policy and regulatory landscape is established. 4. Achieving our proposed vision will necessitate drawing on best practice and creating more coherent and integrated food, environment and rural and coastal economy policies. Sustainable prosperity should and can form the core of future post-Brexit environmental policy thinking and our findings demonstrate the "bottom-up" and co-production approaches that will be key to the development of more environmentally sustainable agricultural and fisheries policies.

Questionnaire and interview guidelines related to Süsser et al. (2024) on how the COVID-19 pandemic changed stakeholder engagement processes in sustainability research in the long-term
<p>The survey questionnaire and the interview guidelines have been designed in the framework of the EU H2020 projects SENTINEL to study the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the stakeholder engagement processes in susatinability research in the longterm. We conducted interviews with researchers and engaged stakeholders, using a semi-structured interview guideline. We designed the survey as an explorative, semi-quantitative, self-completion online questionnaire, using the online tool “LimeSurvey”. The survey was reworked based on our previous survey. Questionnaire to Local Stakeholders in Aoos/Vjosa Valley (Greece)
<p>Interviews conducted with local stakeholders to record on the strengths and prospects, but also on the problems and weaknesses of the development of cultural tourism in Konitsa’s municipality. The THM team analyzed the results of this research and combined them with the data collected by the desk research and the result helped to plan evidence-based actions to support cultural tourism in their area. Also, based on the visualized evidence, local stakeholders decided on the initiatives they were willing to take in order to support the development of cultural tourism in their area.</p>
