Three hydrographic surveys were performed from September 16 to September 18, 2002, along the Intracoastal Waterway between the Altamaha River south of Wolf Island and Sapelo Sound (Intracoastal Waterway Transect, GCE-IC). Vertical CTD profiles were collected at various intervals from 0km to 29km along the transect during various tidal regimes. Conductivity, temperature, pressure and optical backscatter were measured, and depth, salinity and sigma-t were calculated for each profile. Data values collected on the upcast were deleted, and the remaining data were averaged within 0.5m depth bins and interpolated to produce a smooth profile for contouring. This data set was collected as part of the Georgia Coastal Ecosystems LTER quarterly hydrographic monitoring program.

September 2002 surface water bacterial productivity at ten Georgia Coastal Ecosystems LTER sampling sites

Surface water samples were collected during low tide survays near ten Georgia Coastal Ecosystem LTER sampling sites in September, 2002. The incorporation of tritiated leucine in unfiltered samples during one hour incubations was measured using a standard microcentrifuge method to estimate bacterial productivity in each sample. This study was part of the GCE-LTER hydrographic monitoring program, and will be repeated quarterly.

Grass exposure, mesquite height, and plant greenness at a Jornada Basin LTER sand-sheet site, July and September 2019

Two large wind storms in March and April, 2019 caused severe erosion and exposed the roots of many grass patches in the wind-erodible "sand sheet" of the Jornada LTER. These data are from these wind-affected areas. Field transect measurements of grass cover (line-point intercept, grass plants with exposed roots (1-m belt transect), grass plants with green shoots (1-m belt transect), mesquite (PRGL) height (maximum height of cord on transect for each individual) for 18 transects in the sandy loam "sand sheet" geomorphic surface of Jornada. Also included are histograms of UAV-based measurements of green chromatic coordinate (GCC) and grass patch size (cm2) for individual grass patches within each 1-m belt transect.

Nationally Representative Social Contact Patterns among U.S. adults, August 2020-September 2021

<p>The CovidVu study is a national probability survey that collected data on SARS-CoV-2 infection in the U.S. in three rounds: August-December 2020, March-April 2021, and July-September 2021. The goal of this study was to estimate cumulative incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the United States. Surveys were mailed to randomly sampled households in the U.S., and one adult member of the household filled out the questionnaire and sent back SARS-CoV-2 specimens for testing. The data collected&nbsp;included information on social contacts by age, location, and whether they were physical or nonphysical contacts, as well as key demographic information on participants. Survey weights were used to determine unbiased estimates of key parameters, and were based on the population of noninstitutionalized, housed adults (&gt;=18 years of age) in the U.S. Weights were calculated with respect to gender, age, race/ethnicity, education, income, marital status, and census division. FGI ARVO VLS-128 LiDAR Point Cloud, Käpylä, 7th of September 2020

<p>This LiDAR point cloud dataset is collected with a research platform of Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI), called Autonomous Research Vehicle Observatory (ARVO). The dataset was collected with Velodyne VLS-128 Alpha Puck LiDAR, 7th of September 2020 in a suburban environment in the area of K&auml;pyl&auml; in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The environment in the dataset consists of a straight two-way asphalt street, called Pohjolankatu, which starts from a larger controlled intersection at the crossing of Tuusulanv&auml;yl&auml; (60.213326&deg; N, 24.942908&deg; E in WGS84) and passes by three smaller uncontrolled intersections until the crossing of Metsolantie (60.215537&deg; N, 24.950065&deg; E). It is a typical suburban street with tram lines, sidewalks, small buildings, traffic signs, light poles, and cars parked on both sides of the streets. To collect a reference trajectory and to synchronize the LiDAR measurements, we have used a Novatel PwrPak7-E1 GNSS Inertial Navigation System (INS).</p> <p>The motion distortion of each individual scan has been corrected with a postprocessed GNSS INS trajectory and the scans have been registered with Normal Distributions Transform (NDT). Each point is provided with a semantic label probability vector and the final point cloud is averaged with a 1 cm voxel filter.</p> <p>The steps to create this preprocessed dataset have been described in more detail in the article &quot;<a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.03956">Towards High-Definition Maps: a Framework Leveraging Semantic Segmentation to Improve NDT Map Compression and Descriptivity</a>&quot; published in IROS 2022. However, the number of points in each semantic segment in Table I in Section IV-A are different. The correct values are shown in the table below. DEM and associated kinematic GPS coordinates of September 2002 survey of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

<p>This dataset consists of two parts: &nbsp;1) the post-processed kinematic GPS coordinates of a September 2002 survey of a 45 x 54 km region of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. &nbsp;2) a digital elevation model (DEM) of the salar de Uyuni surface derived from those kinematic GPS data.</p> <p>Details of the survey and DEM generation can be found in the manuscript, "Topography of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia from kinematic GPS" (doi: 10.1111/j.1365-246X.2007.03604.x). &nbsp;The only difference between this dataset and one described is that the DEM was generated from fitting two-dimensional Fourier basis set with parameters: L_x = L_y = 70000 meters, m = n = 10. &nbsp;This results in a basis set with a nominal resolution of 7 km, which is almost identical to that used in the dataset shown in the manuscript.</p>

Differential Interferogram of the September 16 2018 Mw 5.3 earthquake Lake Muir, Perth, Australia

<p>A moderate earthquake of Mw 5.3 (M<sub>L</sub> 5.7) occured on September 16 2018 near the Lake Muir region, Perth, SW Australia. Despite Australia being in a mostly stable continental interior, moderate or strong shallow crustral earthquakes occured the past years. Due to shallow faulting and low relief/semi-arid conditions in most regions of Australia, even moderate events lead to surficial deformation in form of mapped surface ruptures or deformation identified by radar satellites (InSAR).</p> <p>The Sep.16 earthquake produced a distinctive surficial deformation pattern, identified in an interferometric pair of Sentinel-1 Copernicus radar images (Descending orbit, September 14 - September 26).&nbsp; Sentinel-1 TOPS Interferogram and Line-of-Sight (LOS) displacement were produced using SNAP and DIAPASON tools in the <a href="https://geohazards-tep.eo.esa.int">Geohazards Exploitation Platform</a>. Color fringes on interferogram represent each a ~2.8cm displacement. Displacement (unwrapped) grid files are also provided.</p> <p>InSAR analysis show co-seismic rupture along a NNE-SSW reverse fault plane, consistent with published moment tensors (USGS). LOS profiles show a 5-15cm displacement across a fault rupture that propagated to the surface. Hundreds of metres of fractures and surface ruptures were reported by local farmers&#39; accounts and photographs to the ABC South West Australia news agency.</p>

Simulated tracks and associated melting of 6912 small to giant Antarctic icebergs, September 1997 to December 2008

<p>We present a dataset of Antarctic iceberg drift tracks and melting that includes small, medium-sized, and giant tabular icebergs with a realistic size distribution. An iceberg model is initialized with 6912 observed iceberg positions and sizes around Antarctica. The dataset is the result of a 2017 study &quot;A simulation of small to giant Antarctic iceberg evolution: Differential impact on climatology estimates&quot; published in JGR:Oceans (<a href="https://doi.org/10.1002/2016JC012513">https://doi.org/10.1002/2016JC012513</a>).</p> <p>We simulate drift and lateral melt using iceberg-draft averaged ocean currents, temperature, and salinity. A new basal melting scheme, originally applied in ice shelf melting studies, uses in situ temperature, salinity, and relative velocities at an iceberg&#39;s bottom. Climatology estimates of Antarctic iceberg melting based on simulations of small (&le;2.2 km), &ldquo;small-to-medium-sized&quot; (&le;10 km), and small-to-giant icebergs (including icebergs &gt;10 km) exhibit differential characteristics: successive inclusion of larger icebergs leads to a reduced seasonality of the iceberg meltwater flux and a shift of the mass input to the area north of 58&deg;S, while less meltwater is released into the coastal areas. This suggests that estimates of meltwater input solely based on the simulation of small icebergs introduce a systematic meridional bias; they underestimate the northward mass transport and are, thus, closer to the rather crude treatment of iceberg melting as coastal runoff in models without an interactive iceberg model. Future ocean simulations will benefit from the improved meridional distribution of iceberg melt, especially in climate change scenarios where the impact of iceberg melt is likely to increase due to increased calving from the Antarctic ice sheet.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
