Tregiffian burial chamber, Cornwall UK
Tregiffian burial chamber is an early Bronze Age chambered tomb situated in West Penwith, Cornwall. Click the annotations to see the rock art (cup marks) on the monument. These will also provide links to more detailed models of each area. Mamai Gora - Neolithic burial No. 1
This burial is the part of huge Neolithic complex of more than 100 objects found during the summer 2020 in Zaporizhzhya region, Ukraine. 97 of them are skeletons lying in the shallow pit near one another. They have been discoveried and studied by the archaeological team of Zaporizhzhya National University. The complex is preliminary dated back tp 6 millenia BC. Further researches is yet to come, though even now it is a unique amount of awesome data on the Neolithic of the Ukrainian Steppe. Hope the future results will be informative! Authigenic carbonate burial within the Late Devonian Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and its impact on the global carbon cycle
<p>The complete dataset for the research project entitled <i>Authigenic carbonate burial within the Late Devonian Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and its impact on the global carbon cycle</i>. Within this zip file includes an excel file compiling a list of rock samples and their corresponding stable carbon and oxygen isotope compositions as well as their inorganic carbon content. Rock samples are grouped according to formation name, depositional environment and stratigraphic height. Along with the excel data compilation are two supplementary figures meant to accompany the publication of this research. Figure S1 illustrates coulometry-measured inorganic carbon content of shale samples plotted with respect to their respective IRMS beam area. Figure S2 illustrates a rolling window analysis of the covariability between the d13C and d18O composition of each sample grouped according to their respective core and field sections. A window size of 20 samples was used.</p>

Early bronze age (from 1300 BC to 1000 BC in Finland) burial cairn in Selkäkangas (Viikala I), Nakkila, Finland. The length of the cairn tomb is 43 meters and width 9-11 meters. There is wall formation under the rocks that is left visible in pit on the northern side at the excavation of 1978–1981. The wall formation length is 40 meters and width 6.5 meters. Burned human and cow bones were found at the excavations. Discoveries include e.g. swords, shield fragments, spearheads, knives, coins and jewelry. The burials were made in 680 - 800 AD. Kerma Culture Burial (~2050-1750 BC)
Scanned at the British Museum from behind a glass display case. Plaque Reads: "This reconstructed burial shows a typical Kerma culture grave from a cemetery in northern Sudan. The man has been placed in a crouched position on his right side, his head to the east, facing north. Sacrificed sheep/goats are by his feet, with pottery vessels and joints of meat to one side. Such ritual practices suggest that these people believed in some form of afterlife. Analysis of the skeleton showed that these are the remains of an adult male who was ~1.75m tall. He died between the ages of 35 & 50 & his teeth are heavily worn. This has led to dental disease and his upper jaw (maxilla) has a large abscess above one of the incisors. The healed fractures on his feet, ribs and long bones suggest an active or violent life. The fracture on his right ulna -called a parry fracture - usually occurs when the arm is lifted to deflect a blow to the head. Ashleypark Co. Tipperary Neolithic Burial Mound
National Monument No. 573. A megalithic burial chamber known as a Linkardstown-Type Cist was exposed in a large burial mound (SMR No. TN015-009----) encircled by two low wide banks with internal ditches giving an overall diameter of 90m. The structure was uncovered during bulldozing operations in 1980 after which the site was excavated in 1985 by state archaeologist, Con Manning. The core of the mound measuring c. 20m in diameter consists of a cairn with a covering of clay. The skeletal remains of an adult male and a child were found here along with a variety of animal bones, a bone point, some chert flakes and Neolithic pottery, including sherds bearing channelled decoration. Radiocarbon dating indicates a calendar date of c.3,350 BC for the burial in the chamber. The prehistoric site is on private land and there is no access to the monument without the landowner's permission. Medieval Burial, Calatrava La Nueva (Spain)
Medieval burial located in the impressive Fortress of Calatrava La Nueva in Aldea del Rey (Ciudad Real, Spain). The castle/convent of Calatrava La Nueva was built in the 13th century to serve as the seat of the powerful Order of Calatrava and today it is one of the most important castles in Spain. Inside, during excavations, 5 burials were found, presumably belonging to Christian knights of the Order of Calatrava. They were buried in the so-called Chapter House (Sala Capitular). This skeleton is still preserved in situ, inside the room. For conservation reasons, the Chapter House is currently closed to the public, although the rest of the castle is open to visitors. Thank you Castilla-La Mancha regional government, Aldea del Rey City Council and the archaeologist Ana Segovia Fernández, for the facilities they have given us and for the interest in the project. 3D model made using 84 images processed in Reality Caputure.
