Census data of growth, mortality and size stage transitions of nests of leaf-cutting ant species before and after fires
<p>We hypothesized that fires will affect more the species that build external, easily flammable thatch mounds with superficial fungal gardens (<i>Acromyrmex lobicornis</i>) than colonies that build subterranean nests in the less-flammable bare-ground (<i>Acromyrmex striatus</i>). We use a stochastic matrix demographic model parameterized with 4 years of data in pre and post fire scenarios. This data set contain all the census data which from we build the matrix models.</p>

At-sea seabird censuses. Data on the species encountered (including marine mammals), their abundance, distribution and behavior. Data collected aboard cruises off the coast of the Western Antarctic Penninsula, 1993 - present.
The objectives of the LTER seabird component during the 92-93 season cruises were similar. These objectives included 1) determining the pelagic abundance and distribution of Adelie Penguins, 2) examining how the physical and biological characteristics of the marine environment influence these parameters and, 3) using these data to identify foraging areas that may be important to Adelie populations being studied as part of land-based work at Palmer Station. Secondary objectives included documenting the abundance and distribution of other seabirds and marine mammals within the LTER study area. The focus of the January cruise was the nearshore foraging habitat,which required sampling at smaller scales. All seabird censuses were thus conducted within approximately 100 kms of Palmer Station while traversing a sampling grid with stations at 10km intervals. The first two days (18-20 January) of this cruise were spent covering the selected grid as rapidly as possible resulting in 45 transects spaced at 45-60 minute intervals. There were no stops at the 10km stations during this Fast Grid phase. Upon completion of the Fast Grid, a force 12 gale suspended data collection for 24 hours. From January 22-25 the grid direction was reversed and the grid repeated. During this Slow Grid phase, 2-M net tows were done at 10km intervals and BOPS and 1-M and 2-M net tows every 20 km. All seabird censusesduring the cruise were done using the procedures outlined in theprevious paragraph.

LBA-ECO LC-04 Satellite/Census-Based 5-Minute Land Use Data, Amazonia: 1980 and 1995
Amazonia has been under considerable development pressure as croplands and pasture are established in areas formerly occupied by tropical forest and cerrado. Although this region is an important part of several important planetary biogeochemical cycles, the location and impact of human land use are not well understood. In particular, there is no existing satellite-based map of agriculture across the Amazon or Tocantins river drainage basins. Recent efforts have classified land cover across this vast region, although they disagree on the location and amount of cropland and do not directly address pasture, a land use that has grown in importance in the last 2 decades. Here we present an analysis of land cover and land use practices over the Amazon and Tocantins basins of South America. In this study, we demonstrate how satellite imagery and agricultural censuses can be merged in order to provide a geographically explicit, fine- scale description of land cover and land use practices. The result depicts the fraction of each 5-min (9 x 9 km) grid cell that was devoted to agricultural activity during the mid-1990s. The resultant map retains many of the characteristics of the agricultural census data, but with a much finer spatial resolution. During the mid-1990s, cultivated area is estimated to have been 1.7 x 10(7) ha (2.5% of the basin), natural pasture is estimated at 3.3 x 10(7) ha (4.9% of the basin), and planted pasture is estimated to cover 3.3 x 10(7) ha (4.9% of the basin). Perhaps more important than the quantities, however, is that these data sets provide a new blend of ground- based and satellite-based spatially explicit data. This snapshot can be used as a basis to project either forward or backward in time, as a new check of finer scale land use classifications or as a driver of ecosystem models.

Census data from 65 tree plots in Panama, 1994-2015
<p>These are data from 65 tree plots in Panama established over 1994-2014; 43 of the plots have been recensused, while 22 plots have just a single census. Details of census methods are described in Condit (1998) and Condit et al. (2013). The 65 plots here are mostly 1 ha in area, though several are 0.32 ha, one is 4 ha, and one is 6 ha. Those two larger censuses are the Sherman and Cocoli plots described in Condit et al. (2004). A companion data archive includes all data from the Barro Colorado 50-ha plot (Condit et al. 2019).</p> <p>The PIs would like to be informed of papers resulting from the marena plot data. Spatial Data from the 2011 India Census
The Spatial Data from the 2011 India Census contains gridded estimates of India population at a resolution of 1 kilometer along with two spatial renderings of urban areas, one based on the official tabulations of population and settlement type (statutory town, outgrowth, census town), and the second, remotely-sensed measures of built-up land derived from the Global Human Settlement Layer. This data set includes a constructed hybrid representation of the urban settlement continuum by cross-classifying the census and remotely-sensed data.

The China County-Level Data on Population (Census) and Agriculture, Keyed To 1:1M GIS Map consists of census, agricultural economic, and boundary data for the administrative regions of China for 1990. The census data includes urban and rural residency, age and sex distribution, educational attainment, illiteracy, marital status, childbirth, mortality, immigration (since 1985), industrial/economic activity, occupation, and ethnicity. The agricultural economic data encompasses rural population, labor force, forestry, livestock and fishery, commodities, equipment, utilities, irrigation, and output value. The boundary data are at a scale of one to one million (1:1M) at the county level. This data set is produced in collaboration with the University of Washington as part of the China in Time and Space (CITAS) project, University of California-Davis China in Time and Space (CITAS) project, and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).

The Gulf of Mexico Eddy Dataset (GOMED), a census of statistically significant eddy-like events from all available surface drifter data
<p>This dataset uses trajectory data from a large set of drifters to extract and analyze displacement signals associated with coherent eddies in the Gulf of Mexico, using a multivariate wavelet ridge analysis as presented in Lilly and Pérez-Brunius (2021). The data includes eddy displacement signals for all ridges, as well as the time-varying ellipse parameters and estimated ellipse center location. The instantaneous frequency is also included, as is the instantaneous bias estimate derived by Lilly and Olhede (2012). The data are organized as appended trajectory data that can be readily separated through the use of the "ids" field. The ridge length (<span class="math-tex">\(L\)</span>),and ridge-averaged circularity (<span class="math-tex">\(\overline{\xi}\)</span>) are also included, as is measure of statistical significance denoted by (<span class="math-tex">\(\rho\)</span>).
