Helsingin Sanomat oli yksi hankkeen rahoittajista ja lehdessä julkaistiin runsaasti kirjoituksia ryhmän matkavalmisteluista, matkasta ja kotiinpaluusta. Helsingin Sanomat was one of the financiers of the expedition and the newspaper published many stories about how the group prepared for the expedition, the journey itself and the group's homecoming.
