Fig. 3. Standard movements performed by Gobiesox barbatulus before leaving the "shelter-stone": (a) sequence 1-8 illustrates a round over the "shelter-stone"; (b) body rotation under the "shelter-stone".
Fig. 2 in Intertidal life: field observations on the clingfish Gobiesox barbatulus in southeastern Brazil
Fig. 2. Microhabitat use by Gobiesox barbatulus in the Baleeiro Isthmus (n = 51) vs. Saco Grande (n = 13). Size in cm.
Fig. 6. Courtship movements recorded for a in Intertidal life: field observations on the clingfish Gobiesox barbatulus in southeastern Brazil
Fig. 6. Courtship movements recorded for a pair of Gobiesox barbatulus in the wild. Each cycle did not exceed 30 min of duration, and always started with one of the three "pre-mating" positions [i.e., (a, e, and h)]. After mating the pair did not stay in contact (b or f), and the larger individual performed parental behavior (b). They restarted the cycle after moving to a spot without eggs, following new approximation (c, d, and g). It is important to note that there are many sequences possible based in such events, since they can alternate.
Fig. 1 in Intertidal life: field observations on the clingfish Gobiesox barbatulus in southeastern Brazil
Fig. 1. Map indicating the location of the study area (São Sebastião Channel) on the coast of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil, and the scanned regions into the marine protected area of CEBIMar-USP (the marine station of the University of São Paulo): (a) pebbles field at the Baleeiro Isthmus; (b) pebbles, cobblestones and boulder field of Saco Grande; (c, d) examples of other scanned regions at the continental margin of the São Sebastião Channel with pebbles and/or tide pools. The big black arrow shows a detail of the Gobiesox barbatulus habitat at the intertidal zone.
Figs 7, 8 in Field observations on Milichia patrizii ant-mugging flies (Diptera: Milichiidae: Milichiinae) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Figs 7, 8. (7) Food exchange ends when the fly retracts its mouthparts. The ant briefly sits motionless following the interaction; (8) Trophallaxis food-sharing behaviour between two Crematogaster castanea tricolor nestmates.
Figs 5, 6 in Field observations on Milichia patrizii ant-mugging flies (Diptera: Milichiidae: Milichiinae) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Figs 5, 6. Food exchange between Milichia patrizii and Crematogaster castanea tricolor: (5) General view; (6) An enlargement showing details of the food exchange interaction. The ant's antenna is enfolded by the pilose clypeal membrane of the fly's proboscis. The long hairs on the fly's proboscis likely serve to capture liquids from the mouth of the ant.
Figs 1, 2 in Field observations on Milichia patrizii ant-mugging flies (Diptera: Milichiidae: Milichiinae) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Figs 1, 2. (1) M. patrizii next to a C. castanea tricolor trail on an Acacia branch; (2) A Milichia darts into the middle of the Crematogaster trail to pursue an individual ant. This attempt was unsuccessful, as the ant was able to move past the fly without stopping.

Reprocessing of Three-Decade GNSS Observations: Millimeter-Level Global Velocity Field and Plate Motion Model Refinement

The accurate and reliable Terrestrial Reference Frame (TRF) functions as a unified spatiotemporal datum crucial for solid earth research, encompassing disciplines such as geodesy and geodynamics. High-precision GNSS velocity field products stand out as pivotal foundational data for the maintenance of the TRF. This dataset encapsulates the outcomes of two GNSS velocity field refinement products: Global GNSS Velocity Model 2020 (GGVM2020) and the Global Interpolation Velocity Model 2020 (GIVM2020). GGVM2020 comprises velocity values and formal errors derived from over 3000 GNSS sites worldwide. And GIVM2020 incorporates speed values from approximately 2000 grid points on land globally, with a grid spacing of 3 degrees.

Magnetic field enhancements in the interplanetary solar wind: Diverse processes manifesting a uniform observation type?

Interlaced magnetic flux ropes are a subject of investigation in various space environments, including the solar corona, interplanetary solar wind, and magnetosheath. In this study, we utilize a Hall Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) model to replicate these interactions within selected regions. By employing plasma flow to propel two flux ropes of various parameters towards each other, we examine the effect of their relative helicity on the ensuing process. Our simulations, coupled with vector analysis, found the existence of flux ropes with opposing helicity along their axes (counter-helical) in some of the resultant interactions. These findings underscore the need to identify and study counter-helical flux ropes in space. The study presented here contributes new comprehension of space plasma dynamics and new insights into the solar wind in control of space weather.

Data for: A comprehensive dataset of forest above-ground biomass from field observations, machine learning and topographically augmented allometric models over the Kashmir Himalaya

The repository contains observed Above Ground Biomass (AGB) estimates at about 275 sample plots chosen for AGB assessment in the forests of Kashmir Himalaya. The AGB is assessed as a fucntion of dbh using various allometric equations developed specifically for the region. It also contains the AGB for years 1978, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2021 predicted using topographcally augmeneted multivariate regression model. The extent of forest, delineated using on-screen digitization using Landsat and Sentinel image collection at decadal scale is also provided for the years 1978, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2021.
