Initial auralization of a distributed propulsion system equipped with 26 ducted low-speed fans

Illustration of engine noise auralization by DLR Institute of Propulsion Technology obtained with the framework PropNoise, VIOLIN, CORAL. Data associated with the following publication: S. Schade, R. Merino-Martinez, P. Ratei, S. Bartels, R. Jaron and A. Moreau, "Initial Study on the Impact of Speed Fluctuations on the Psychoacoustic Characteristics of a Distributed Propulsion System with Ducted Fans", 30th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference, Rome, Italy, 04-07 June, 2024.

Selected binaural audio files to illustrate the impact of rotational speed fluctuations on the noise characteristics of a distributed propulsion system equipped with 26 ducted, low-speed fans. Please note that the sound pressure amplitudes are normalized to 110dB for the reference turbofan case and to 90dB for the cases with distributed fans.

The corresponding time signals and spectrograms are available in the associated conference paper in Figures 4-6.

Dautan et al 2024 " Gut-Initiated Alpha Synuclein Fibrils Drive Parkinson's Disease Phenotypes: Temporal Mapping of non-Motor Symptoms and REM Sleep Behavior Disorder"

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is characterized by progressive motor as well as less recognized non-motor symptoms that arise often years before motor manifestation, including sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances. Despite the heavy burden on the patient’s quality of life, these non-motor manifestations are poorly understood. To elucidate the temporal dynamics of the disease, we employed a mice model involving injection of alpha-synuclein (αSyn) pre-formed fibrils (PFF) in the duodenum and antrum as a gut-brain model of Parkinsonism. Using anatomical mapping of αSyn PFF propagation and behavioral and physiological characterizations, we unveil a correlation between post-injection time the temporal dynamics of αSyn propagation and non-motor/motor manifestations of the disease. We highlight the concurrent presence of aggregates in key brain regions, expressing acetylcholine or dopamine and their functions in sleep duration, wakefulness, and particularly REM-associated atonia corresponging to REM behavioral disorder-like symptoms. This study presents a novel and in-depth exploration into the multifaceted nature of PD, unraveling the complex connections between α-synucleinopathies, gut-brain connectivity, and the emergence of non-motor phenotypes.

Perceived increases of fish species in the Mediterranean sea: data from a joint LEK initiative.

The dataset was collected with the the Mediterranean LEK initiative. The initiative was initially conceived by the international basin-wide monitoring program CIESM Tropical Signals (funded by the Albert II of Monaco Foundation) and subsequently adopted by the projects BALMAS (Ballast Water Management System for Adriatic Sea Protection, IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation Programme; FAO-AdriaMed and FAO-MedSudMed. This action was recently supported by the Interreg Med Programme (Grant number Pr MPA-Adapt 1MED15_3.2_M2_337) 85% co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which implemented the use of standard LEK protocols for Marine Protected areas and partially supported the writing of this publication.

Data refers to self-reported trends of various fish species, which were regarded as increaseing by a sample of fishermen from various Mediterranean countries. Interviews were elicited from fishermen through semi-structured protocols (see Azzurro et al., 2011).

MeSDiCon - Medical Spanish Disease and symptom name Collection lexicon (unfiltered initial version)

The MeSDiCon - (Medical Spanish Disease and symptom name Collection lexicon) consists of a list or gazetteer of candidate names of diseases and symptoms mentioned in Spanish clinical texts. Thus MeSDiCon serves as a lexical resource or dictionary for automatic detection of disease/symptom mentions, as well as indexing or classification of medical texts with such concept types.

This collection was generated in a five step procedure:

Automatic detection of mentions of disease/symptom terms in biomedical texts in English (including mapping/normalization to MeSH terms or OMIM identifiers).

Generation of a unique name list from the detected concept mentions.

Basic filtering of non- disease/symptom names or highly ambiguous mentions-abbreviations using basic characteristics like name morphology and length criteria.

Automatic translation of name lists form English to Spanish using a medical machine translation system (see Soares, F. and Krallinger, M. BSC Participation in the WMT Translation of Biomedical Abstracts. In Proceedings of the Fourth Conference on Machine Translation, Volume 3: Shared Task Papers, pp. 175-178 2019; https://zenodo.org/record/3346802)

Automatic mention lookup of translated names in a collection of 20 million Spanish clinical notes (primary care and pediatrics).

Every term in MeSDiCon is identified by a text span (in Spanish), a target terminology namespace to which it was automatically mapped (MeSH or OMIM) and its corresponding concept identifier in that target terminology. Moreover, we provide for every text span the absolute term frequency, i.e. the number of matches in the corpus of 20 million clinical notes and the number of documents or notes in which it was automatically.

Important note: no manual filtering of the MeSDiCon was carried out, implying that some entries might comprise errors, either due to the initial name recognition and concept mapping in English or due to wrong automatic translations into Spanish.

The MeSDiCon resource is provided in two formats:

TSV. Data is separated by tabs (\t). Every row of the file has the following fields:

terminology identifier translatedTerm termCount documentCount

JSON. Records are stored as a list of JSON objects. They have the following fields:

{ "terminology":"MESH", "identifier":"D025861", "translatedTerm":"Trastornos de la coagulación", "termFrequency":9, "documentFrequency":9 }

Copyright (c) 2019 Secretaría de Estado para el Avance Digital

University of Kansas Field Station: Forest demography, 1980 – 2015. On ten study plots established on three management units all live trees with a dbh > 7.5 cm (3 in) were identified to species, measured, and tagged. Trees were initially measured in 1980/1981 and re-measured in three successive time periods: 1993/95; 2002/03; and 2014/15. Trees will be measured again in 2025/26.
In 1980 researchers at the University of Kansas initiated a long-term experiment monitoring the composition of oak-hickory forest communities at the University’s field station near Lawrence, Kansas. The purpose of the study was to determine how forest species composition varied temporally across distinct habitats that varied in topography, elevation, sun exposure, management history and successional stage. Ten permanent sites were sampled approximately each decade with data collection periods of 1980/81, 1993/95, 2002/03, and 2014/15. Trees with a minimum diameter at breast height (dbh) of ≥ 7.5 cm were tagged, identified to species and measured. Trees will be measured again in 2025/26.
