Correlation Between Insulation Resistance and Temperature Measurement Error in Type K and Type N Mineral Insulated, Metal Sheathed Thermocouples
<p>Mineral insulated, metal sheathed (MI) Type K and Type N thermocouples are<br> widely used in industry for process monitoring and control. One factor that limits<br> their accuracy is the dramatic decrease in the insulation resistance at temperatures<br> above about 600 °C which results in temperature measurement errors due to electrical<br> shunting. In this work the insulation resistance of a cohort of representative MI<br> thermocouples was characterised at temperatures up to 1160 °C, with simultaneous<br> measurements of the error in indicated temperature by in situ comparison with a reference<br> Type R thermocouple. Intriguingly, there appears to be a systematic relationship<br> between the insulation resistance and the error in the indicated temperature. At<br> a given temperature, as the insulation resistance decreases, there is a corresponding<br> increasingly negative error in the temperature measurement. Although the measurements<br> have a relatively large uncertainty (up to about 1 °C in temperature error and<br> up to about 10 % in insulation resistance measurement), the trend is apparent at all<br> temperatures above 600 °C, which suggests that it is real. Furthermore, the correlation<br> disappears at temperatures below about 600 °C, which is consistent with the<br> well-established diminution of insulation resistance breakdown effects below that<br> temperature. This raises the intriguing possibility of using the as-new MI thermocouple<br> calibration as an indicator of insulation resistance breakdown: large deviations<br> of the electromotive force (emf) in the negative direction could indicate a correspondingly<br> low insulation resistance.</p>
Dataset for the publication: First-principles studies on the atomistic properties of metallic magnesium as anode material in magnesium-ion batteries
<p>This dataset contains the input and output files from the calculation of the atomistic properties of metallic magnesium, such as bulk, surface, adsorption, and diffusion properties.</p> <p>The discussion of the results were published in the ChemSusChem article: 'First-principles studies on the atomistic properties of metallic magnesium as anode material in magnesium-ion batteries' (<a href="https://doi.org/10.1002/cssc.202200414">https://doi.org/10.1002/cssc.202200414</a>). A preprint of the publication is further available under: <a href="http://doi.org/10.26434/chemrxiv-2022-qz055">https://doi.org/10.26434/chemrxiv-2022-qz055</a>.</p> <p>All calculations were performed using the density function theory code Vienna <em>ab initio</em> simulation package (VASP).</p> <p>The dataset contains all raw data for the performed convergence studies and calculated bulk-, surface-, adsorption-, and diffusion properties. Non-genetically-based intraspecific differentiation for heavy metal tolerance in the copper moss Scopelophila cataractae
<p>We used next-generation sequencing to study DNA methylation and gene expression changes in plants from four clonal populations of the metallophyte moss <em>Scopelophila cataractae</em> experimentally exposed to either Cd or Cu. For this we performed reduced representation bisulfite DNA sequencing and RNA sequencing. </p>

Mitchell</a></p> <p><strong>Abstract:</strong> We describe micro-fabricated rubidium vapor cells with integrated temperature-control functionality and demonstrate their suitability for use in miniaturized ultra-sensitive magnetometers. These functionalized vapor cells (FVCs) embody a dual-chamber design in low-conductivity silicon with anti-permeation coatings and micro-structured thin-film platinum surface traces as resistive heaters and temperature sensors. Thermal tests show our ability to control alkali metal distribution within the FVCs, ensuring a clean sensing chamber for optical measurements. Optical absorption spectroscopy is used to correlate the temperature readings with vapor density and to measure buffer gas pressure, of interest for optimizing sensitivity. Finally, we demonstrate zero-field resonance magnetometry with 18 fT/√Hz sensitivity in the 10 Hz to 100 Hz band, limited by laser noise and magnetic shield noise, which indicates that the functionalization does not introduce significant magnetic noise.</p>

Each data set consists of p rows and q columns, DT250s denotes the time resolution of data points, which is 250 s along both row and column values.</p> <p>The data set called "Time_Contrast_1to30s.txt" states the start time in seconds of the first data point of each of the thirty contrast data set.</p> <p>The data set called "ScatteredIntensity.txt" states the scattered intensity at full time resolution, i.e. 2.5 s.</p> <p>The files are plain text files with the data points separated by "space" along rows and "new line" along columns.</p>

Estimating heavy metal deposition in Germany using model calculations and biomonitoring data, link to research data and scientific software
<p>Research data and scientific software related to an investigation dealing with modelled data on Cd and Pb deposition (LOTOS-EUROS, EMEP/MSC-East) and monitoring data from the International Cooperative Programme on Effects of Air Pollution on Natural Vegetation and Crops (ICP Vegetation Moss Survey) and the German Environmental Specimen Bank (ESB) providing corresponding parameters on HM concentration in various biota. The study aimed at examining, whether an integrated use of model calculations and monitoring data can extend established methods for estimating and evaluating spatial patterns of atmospheric Pb and Cd deposition across Germany.</p>
