Test and validation data for Robbie: A Batch Processing Work-flow for the Detection of Radio Transients and Variables

Robbie: a general work-flow for the detection and characterization of radio variability and transient events in the image domain.
Robbie is designed to work in a batch processing paradigm with a modular design so that components can be swapped out or upgraded to adapt to different input data, whilst retaining a consistent and coherent methodological approach.
Robbie is based on commonly used and open software, and is encapsulated in a Makefile to aid portability and reproducibility.
In the description paper we describe the methodology behind Robbie, and demonstrate its use on real and simulated data.

This repository contains the observed and simulated data that was used in the description paper.

Traffic flow formation in termites

The material shared here is part of the research project on the mechanism of traffic flow formation. We use termites as a biological model and their natural foraging activity as a method. Here, we present some video fragments extracted from the recordings of the full foraging process of the termites Constrictotermes cyphergaster at laboratory conditions. This research project is supported by the Brazilian Government through the Minas Gerais State Agency for Research (FAPEMIG), the Brazilian Council for Research (CNPq) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).

Details of the videos: Each file recording is named with the ID of the nest used for each test. A test consisted of the passage of the termites from the box containing the entire nest to the foraging box through a bridge. The width and the form of the bridge were modified between tests. In the fragment, 2018-IX-07-RCB-N09 we tested a bridge with a constant width of 7.5 cm, while in the fragment 2018-IX-07-RCB-N18 we tested a "bottleneck" bridge with a hybrid width of 2.5 cm - 1.5 cm - 2.5cm.

For aditional information, please contact us: Julieth Castiblanco (castiblancoq.j@gmail.com), Og DeSouza (og.souza@ufv.br).

Large repeated measures experiments of acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) streamflow measurements under steady flow conditions (Chauvan 2016 regatta)

From 8 to 10 November 2016, 50 laboratories or teams (from 8 different countries) with 50 ADCPs, simultaneously conducted more than 600 ADCP discharge measurements in steady flow conditions (around 14 m3/s released by a dam), during three half-days, over 500 m along the Taurion River at Saint-Priest-de-Taurion, France. 26 cross-sections with various shapes and flow conditions, and more or less favourable conditions, were distributed along the river. A specific experiment procedure, which consisted of circulating every team over half of the cross-sections, was implemented in order to quantify the impact of site selection on the discharge measurement
uncertainty.

The experimental design is presented in Despax et al (2017) available at https://irsteadoc.irstea.fr/cemoa/PUB00055007

Despax, A., Hauet, A., Le Coz, J., Dramais, G., Blanquart, B., Besson, D., & Belleville, A. The dynamics of bi-directional exchange flows: implication for morphodynamic change within estuaries and sea straits

Environmental and geophysical flows, including dense bottom gravity currents in the ocean and buoyancy-driven exchange flows in marginal seas,
are strongly controlled by topographic features.
These are known to exert significant influence on both internal mixing and secondary circulations generated by these flows.
In such cases, uni-directional or bi-directional exchange flows develop when horizontal density differences
and/or pressure gradients are present between adjacent water bodies connected by a submerged channel.
The flow dynamics of the dense lower layer depend primarily on the volumetric flux and channel cross-sectional shape,
while the stratified interfacial flow mixing characteristics, leading to fluid entrainment/detrainment,
are also dependent on the buoyancy flux and motion within the upper (lower density) water mass.
For submerged channels that are relatively wide compared to the internal Rossby radius of deformation,
Earth rotation effects introduce geostrophic adjustment of these internal fluid motions,
which can suppress turbulent mixing generated at the interface and result in the development of Ekman layers that induce secondary,
cross-channel circulations, even within straight channels.
Moreover, recent studies of dense, gravity currents generated in rotating and non-rotating systems,
respectively, indicated that the V-shaped channel topography had a strong influence on both flow distribution
and associated interfacial mixing characteristics along the channel.
However, such topographic controls on the interfacial mixing and secondary circulations generated by bi-directional exchange flows
are not yet fully understood and remain to be investigated thoroughly in the laboratory.
Also the effect of mobile bed for bi-directional exchange flows generated in deformable channels along with the physical interactions
between the lower dense water flow and the erodible bed sediments
will have a strong influence in (re-)shaping the overall channel bed topography (i.e. bed morphodynamics).
Consequently, the resulting temporal changes in cross-sectional channel bathymetry (i.e. through erosion and deposition processes)
would also be expected to have associated feedbacks on transverse asymmetries in the bi-directional exchange flow structure,
as well as on the internal flow stability.

Data from Figure 4 and Figure 6 of "Small-scale universality in the spectral structure of transitional pipe flows", Science Advances (2019). Included are spatial spectra normalized with the Kolmogorov scale and viscosity. The collapse of the normalized spectra is indicative of the small-scale universality predicted by Kolmogorov. The data are taken from turbulent and transitional pipe flows at different Re and different positions from the wall from both experiments and simulations (experiments are at the centerline only).

Growing Malaria Parasites at a Critical Shaking Speed Mimicking Physiological Flow Reveals New Phenotypes for Invasion Ligands, Supporting Information

This repository contains the dataset and analysis scripts associated with the upcoming publication titled Growing malaria parasites at a critical shaking speed that mimics physiological flow conditions reveals new phenotypes for EBA and RH invasion ligands. The repository includes a comprehensive collection of data and scripts used to generate all the plots, along with videos showing how the red blood cells behave in culture media for different shaking speeds in the different shaking vessels. The growth assay data used for this experiment was collected in four batches, labelled GA1 to 4:

GA1: compares the different knockout lines.

GA2: compares different hematocrits.

GA3: compares different growth vessels.

GA4: contains more repeats of lines from GA1.

This repository offers all necessary resources to replicate the findings, including the complete codebase, raw data, and graphical representations of results. Researchers are encouraged to explore the included notebooks and datasets for detailed insights. Movies S1 to S4 show a top and side view of each type of plate/plask used on an orbital shaker as the shaking speed is increased.
