The TRIple-frequency and Polarimetric radar Experiment for improving process observation of winter precipitation (version 2)

The combined TRIple-frequency and Polarimetric radar Experiment for improving process observation of winter precipitation (TRIPEx) was a joint field experiment of the University of Cologne, the University of Bonn, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and the Research Center Jülich. TRIPEx took place at the Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution (JOYCE) from 11 November 2015 until 04 January 2016. During this experiment, the X, Ka and W Band ground-based Doppler radars were used vertically pointing to observe the clouds. Here we provide level 2 of the dataset collected during this campaign. Several step processing were applied to minimize the radar offset and attenuation. In addition, we provide the attenuation correction and the quality flags for each processing steps to allow the user to retrieve the data without our correction. The raw and the level 1 of the dataset are available for the users on request from the corresponding author.

Participant observation data from local, storytelling, multi-stakeholder energy policy workshops

The SHAPE ENERGY (EU Horizon 2020) undertook 17 multi-stakeholder energy policy workshops over November 2017 – May 2018. These workshops were mostly in partnership with municipalities who posed local energy problems that needed to be ‘solved’. The workshops brought local stakeholders together through storytelling facilitation techniques. The included data herein are anonymised components of the completed participant observation templates that partners used at these workshops. In particular, the data predominately relates to the conversational exchanges in one very closely monitored session across all the workshops.

University College Dublin bird observations - 1973 to 1998

This folder holds data that CP entered from ledgers provided by K. Cathcart recording birds on the campus of University College Dublin, Belfield, Co. Dublin, Ireland from 1973 to 1998. Birds were recorded weekly with either presence/absence or abundance codes. These data have not been cleaned, and are known to have errors (e.g. some impossible dates including 31 November 1985 were written in the original ledgers and have been transcribed exactly into this dataset).

These data have not been double-checked to identify entry errors.

Data and model scripts for "Temporal shifts in iso/anisohydry revealed from daily observations of plant water potential in a dominant desert shrub"

Model code and data as used for the first revision submitted to New Phytologist, Sept. 2019.

Models are coded in JAGS and run in R via the package "rjags." Two model versions are presented:

1) "mod_SAM.R" and "script_SAM.R" run the full, time-varying SAM model, utilizing both the plant water potential ("res.Rdata") and the environmental covariate data ("cov2.Rdata") and associated initial values ("initsSAM.Rdata")

2) "mod_SIMPLE.R" and "script_SIMPLE.R" run the simple, time-invariant model, utilizing only the plant water potential data ("res.Rdata") and associated initial values ("initsSIMPLE.Rdata")

Observations and Simulations of Tin Plasmas Formed by CO2 Laser Pulses

This is the experimental and simulation data associated with an article submitted to Physics of Plasmas. It contains two folders and one data file.

Folder #1: dual probe csv files

This folder contains the data from a complete experimental run with two probes in the chamber.

Each csv file has 4 columns of data from Row 22.

Column 1 contains the time data.

Column 2 contains the laser pulse data

Column 3 contains the planar probe data

Column 4 contains the wire probe data

Please note that the planar probe is positioned only at 100 mm, 80 mm, 60 mm, 40 mm and 20 mm from the target, while the wire probe is positioned at a greater range of distances from the target.

Please see the data naming convention below which explains how to determine the distance of each probe from the target for each data file.

Folder #2: planar probe csv files

This folder contains the data from a complete experimental run with the planar probe inside the chamber.

Each csv file has 3 columns of data from Row 22.

Column 1 contains the time data.

Column 2 contains the laser pulse data

Column 3 contains the planar probe data

Please note that the planar probe is positioned a range of distances from the target.

Please see the data naming convention below which explains how to determine the distance of the probe from the target for each data file.

File: complete_541ns.plt

This is a text file which contains the simulation data for a range of parameters which were outputted from the 541 ns simulation at different edit times. All units are cgs.

Data Naming Convention

As each data sample was taken, it was important to name the saved correlated files in line with a strict convention, which would later enable the analysis of concomitant data sets and the proper association of probe-response with laser voltage and probe distances. Periods were avoided within the naming convention to avoid subsequent potential software conflicts.

The naming convention selected contained reference to the following (see Figure 1).

The base position of the probe: from 100 mm to 20 mm in steps of 20 mm. (In the dual probe csv files, the planar probe is held at this base position)

The bias on the probe: ±15 V.

The laser driving voltage: 22.5 kV, 25.0 kV, 27.5 kV.

The actuator offset. In Figure 1, posn120 indicates that the probe has been moved 12 mm towards the target, closer than its starting position 020 mm i.e. it is 8 mm from the target. (The wire probe moves with this offset in the dual probe csv files. The planar probe moves with this offset in the planar probe csv files.)

The sequence number of the shot within the group.

e.g. : 020mm_pos15_27-5kV_posn120_003.csv

Questions for clarification may be directed to Frank McQuillan at +353 87 7109085, or frank@frankmcquillan.com.
