Open Access Spiel "Skill It - Unlock Your Science!"
<p><strong><em>SKILL IT! – Unlock Your Science</em></strong> ist ein interaktives <strong>Pen&Paper-Game, </strong>das darauf abzielt, Kompetenzen im wissenschaftlichen Publizieren zu vermitteln. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Open Access und freien Lizenzen. Es richtet sich an ein breites Publikum, sowohl aus der Wissenschaft als auch an Interessierte ohne wissenschaftlichen Hintergrund. Das Spiel wurde im Rahmen der Langen Nacht der Wissenschaften 2022 entwickelt und eignet sich für 2 bis 6 Spieler. Die Spielzeit beträgt etwa 20 bis 30 Minuten.</p> <p>Ziel des Spiels ist es, die Teilnehmenden in die Rolle von Forschenden zu versetzen, die ihre wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse veröffentlichen möchten. Die Spieler bewegen sich durch das Museum und sammeln in verschiedenen Stationen Wissen und Fähigkeiten, die sie im späteren Publikationsprozess erfolgreich anwenden. Der Spielablauf gliedert sich in zwei Phasen: eine „Skill-Phase”, in der Wissen & Informationen erworben wird, und einen „Publikationsprozess“, bei dem das erlernte Wissen auf die Probe gestellt wird. Würfelmechanismen und Entscheidungen beeinflussen den Spielverlauf, wobei verschiedene Fertigkeitsstufen den Erfolg im Publikationsprozess erhöhen können.</p> <p>Das Spiel bietet einen leichten Einstieg, benötigt wenig Vorbereitungszeit und wurde positiv getestet, insbesondere hinsichtlich der Vermittlung wissenschaftlicher Inhalte auf unterhaltsame Weise.</p> <p>Erstellt wurde das Konzept und die erste spielbare Version von Franziska Paech. Die grafische Umsetzung erfolgte durch Esra Woite am Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.</p> <p>Die weitere Überarbeitung und Anpassung der hier publizierten Version erfolgte durch die Koordinierungsstelle wissenschaftliches Publizieren am Museum für Naturkunde Berlin: Stefanie Paß & Clara Schindler.</p> <p>Alle hier publizierten Materialien unterliegen der Creative Common-Lizenz <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.de">CC-By 4.0 Namensnennung 4.0 International</a></p>
Chromatin accessibility landscape of mouse early embryos revealed by single-cell NanoATAC-seq2
<p>The chromatin accessibility assay using scNanoATAC-seq2 was conducted on the Oxford Nanopore (ONT) long-read sequencing platform and focused on samples related to mouse preimplantation development. These samples included preimplantation embryos, ranging from the zygote to the late blastocyst, as well as oocytes, granulosa cells, and naive mouse embryonic stem cells. The embryos were derived from crosses of C57xDBA, DBAxC57, and C57xCAST. Additionally, cell lines from humans and mice were assayed during the technical testing phase.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Note: </strong>In this dataset, 'pre-TE' denotes early trophectoderm (early TE), while 'TE' signifies late trophectoderm (late TE), as outlined in the main article.</p>

Data from: Hunters and their perceptions of public access: a view from afield
The data were collected between 2014 and 2017 and represent interviews of public lands users as they exited the location where they were recreating. Because the data represents human subjects, the data is presented as an aggregate of the original data to protect the participants. Data were aggregated at the party level and specific information about participants removed, as such the analyses represented in the manuscript may not always be represented by this data file as some analyses were conducted at the individual level, not party level, and/or included additional information that was not included here due to concerns over violating human subjects research norms. All analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. All data were collected under the approval of the University of Nebraska Institutional Review Board, approval 20120912892EX. For further information about the data or analysis please contact the lead author. Descriptions of the variables included in the data along with the survey questions used to populate the associated variable can be found in the ReadMe file.

Data from: Socio-economic impacts of energy access through off-grid systems in rural communities: A case study of South-West Nigeria
<p><span><span>The development of resilient energy systems is important for sustainable cities and communities. However, in countries with insufficient national energy supply, electricity distributors rarely consider remote communities due to their distant settlement, low electricity demand and poor payment capabilities. The United Nations has set a goal to deliver universal energy access by 2030, hence, it has become imperative to deploy clean and affordable off-grid mini-grid solutions to previously abandoned communities. Access to energy in rural communities is expected to result in unlocking their economic potentials. This paper investigates the impact of a solar hybrid mini-grid on the socio-economic growth of local entrepreneurs in Gbamu Gbamu village, Nigeria. A total of 83 Micro and Small Enterprises has been surveyed, descriptive statistics, paired-sample t-test, cross-tabulation, and Chi-square test, were used to assess the performance of businesses before and after electrification. The outcomes include the number of business enterprises created, employment statistics, energy expenses and income generated. Regression analysis was conducted on the relationship between the average income generated by businesses and independent socio-economic variables such as gender, marital status, household size, age, education level, years of business establishment, hours of operation, building tenure, capital source, number of employees, generator ownership and the days of operation. </span></span></p>

<ul> <li>The replication package contains data that we are making publicly available.</li> <li>We use two main datasets: census data (Swiss Federal Statistical Office) and taxpayer data (Swiss Federal Tax Administration).</li> <li>Census data are aggregated at the municipality level.</li> <li>Taxpayer data are proprietary. We aggregated these data into four income bins for each municipality. There are fewer than 5 observations in one of these income bins for a bit less than a third of tax data units (municipality-year) and the Swiss Federal Tax Administration asked us to code these bins as “missing” in the dataset we are making publicly available. Hence, the full dataset we are using and the dataset we are making publicly available differ slightly.</li> <li>The ReadMe file includes an Appendix with all Tables and Figures of the paper produced with the restricted, publicly available data.</li> </ul>
